@@trashpanda3040 well Karen Travis‘s books she state what happens on E-DAY is that Dom lost his kids, His mum and dad are presumed dead and it’s never stated but it’s more than likely they were killed because they don’t make an appearance ever again and his mother and father-in-law died on E-Day at the same time as his kids because they where Looking after the kids, so Don and Maria could have some quiet time together

Marcus was basically living with Dom, his brother and the santiago family since childhood because Adam Fenix was way too into his research. Their unbreakable bond happened way before E-Day

Fun fact, the reason why they made a MK2 lancer (aka chainsaw lancer) is because the bayonet wasn't strong/sharp enough to easily pierce the skin of the hard skinned locusts. Someone (I forgot who) had made a suggestion that a chainsaw weapon would be efficient at getting through the skin thus making the lancer MK2.
Not quite. Tai killed a grub with a chainsaw with ease. Marcus saw it happened and took note of it and went to Adam Fenix about it for an idea for weapons. The Lancer Mk II was born.

Marcus suggests the idea to his Father who subsequently invents the Chainsaw Lancer that we slay with today.
although the retro lancer bayonets weren’t that effective they did come to realize that if you just run really fast & hit the locust hard enough you can pierce the skin, but a chainsaw lancer is always more efficient, effective & badass for killing grubs.

I recently started playing through the Gears series, and honestly one was SUPER short, but I can see why it took off, especially back in 2009. The sequels are much better than the first, and it really makes it feel like you are just bred to kill Locusts.
I’d say play all 5! As someone who grew up only playing the campaign bc my family couldn’t afford internet I replayed them all last year and it was great!:)

Man I hope this saves the gear franchise because I hadn’t liked a gears really since 3, I felt like 4 and 5 were just forgettable and the direction they were going in didn’t help either.

Hopefully there is some flashbacks of pre Locust stuff, and it follows the books. Like in Gears 4 but better, in the fact the Aspho fields section completely forgot the Pesanga people, like Bai Tak.
Could be the scene with Marcus and Carlos at the pipe line or when Carlos slots the Indie
PC Remaster release of GoW 1-3 to go along with this game would legit just print money.
Maybe we'll see when Tai got captured and tortured. Cole Train as an athlete and the Original Carmine as a rookie
This is E-Day, 14 years before Tai gets captured. And the original Carmine (Anthony) was a little kid when this happened. Might have a cameo of Cole as a Thrashball star, though.
This probably also means that we’re going to see young Tai as he was also the creator of the M2 lancer

I’ve just realized we won’t be seeing the ole crew we’ll most likely get introduced to new people and from what all the comic books show E-Day was a dark day indeed so I kinda expect a lot of people to die along the story and the only familiar face we’ll see if they didn’t re design him is RAAM he’ll be younger and a lot more blood thirsty I wouldn’t be surprised if they give him the Darth Vader treatment where you come across him and you have no choice but to run and hide straight up horror man I hope this games good

I have waited so long for this portrayal.
It’s not impossible that we may see Clayton. He is the oldest Carmine brother after all. And he does seem pretty old in gears 5. I’m not saying he has to have a big role. But in Raam’s dlc for gears 3 we get to see a young Jace take up arms with Barrack and all them. Would just be cool to possibly see Clay fighting off grubs before he became the unit he is
Anyone else really want a spin-off game where you play as The Locust? A game where you battle the Lambent in The Hollows and it eventually leads to E-Day.
There should be a gears of war game that explores the events that happened on the day the hammer of dawn satellites were used on the locust horde , it would explore the pov's of different squads and maybe afew civilians trying to escape the chaos and it should be called something like Gears of war : Hammer down
I hope they return the struggle feature here just to show how strong the locust were on E-day
Marcus and Dom were buddies before EDAY because there's a comic of them near the end of the pendulum wars because Dom's brother died at the battle of aspho fields and there's a mention of marcus being buddies with both of them ❤which as a diehard gears of war fan I adore I grew up playing these games I wish they could retcon gears 5 and 6 because gears of war 3 was supposed to be the ending 5 and 6 makes Dom's death feel like he died for nothing but to save his friend😢
Prequel makes more sense than a sequel at this point imo. Would love to see the world properly and watch it go downhill from ground zero.

Just watching the E-Day Trailer and seeing a low-mid tier Drone absolutely tossing a young and otherwise fit and healthy Marcus Fenix around while he is literally fighting for his life is how want to see the locust portrayed

Its easy to forget that gears 1 takes place 14 flipping years after E-Day and 2-3 takes place after fifteen. Then gears 4-5 takes place a solid 27 after that.

I hope that the prolouge is kinda of like Gear 4 where it starts off in the pendulum wars battle of Aspho fields but with Carlos as the 2nd player character until he dies. Also Marcus and Anya would still be just starting their relationship.
I hope that we get a reference to the incident that landed Marcus in Prison at the beginning of Gears of War 1 only to be set free by Dom.
I wonder if we’ll see the second oldest carmine brother that Benjamin mentioned in Gears 2. I hope he stays alive since in 2 Ben said that there’s four of them, “well three now” since Anthony passed
Im soooo pumped to see and play this. Im so interested in how different the fighting is going to be. Since its only the mk1 lancer it looks like we get. But hey it was e-day. The beginning of it all with the locust. This is gonna be one hellva ride 😊

Im gonna take a shot in the dark and say this game will end with Marcus getting locked up in the Slab. If memory serves, he was sentenced for 40 years, but served 10 years before everyone was pardoned, which was the start of Gears 1.

Going through the whole series on Insane again , can't wait to play Eday. Id say the most annoying battle so far has been the first Swarmack fight in GOW4. Its all fine until the rocket barrage decides to path find around cover

Man the gears of war universe is up there with 40k levels of a grim dark future when you realise that the pendulum war ended 6 weeks before e-day and that war lasted for almost 80 years
Hopefully we switch between delta and alpha squad mainly cause I know Marcus doesn’t see a berserker until gears 1 so Baird first encounter not knowing how to kill it
Happy we get to see this and play as Marcus again but is anyone gonna talk about how E-Day is the devs copping out of FINISHING the Fenix storyline?

@@TezKingboom well I mean the gameplay itself. The game has always been designed with the lancer in mind, everything is balanced in a way that the Mk ll will be the most all round weapon in the game, so I wonder if anything changes in its absence.
They'll probably get it halfway through. Adam knew E day was coming so bet he had the MK.II in development already
@@NipplWizard well in the lore (as it stands now) they developed the MK II after I believe Tai used a chainsaw to defend himself against a drone and found it incredibly effective.
So if they follow the actual canon timeline I’m pretty sure the MK II wasn’t built until around 2 years after E-day.
The only reason the MK1 lancer was ineffective was the bayonet and its accuracy. But trust me, it could absolutely SHRED a drone if you use it right

Back when GOW was on Xbox live was my fav. The controls and response time of your character and actions was also my fav. I hope they don't slow it down like GOW2. 💩 It was fun to have sniper battles and ppl would even know your gamertag and know your about to pop some heads when you enter the game. 🤘

I don't want to spoil anything. But I'm picturing the game ending with Marcus being court martialed. As that's how Gears of War 1 started off.
Gears 1 started off with Marcus in prison a few years after EDay. It'll probably end where gears 3 started (the flashback sequence )with Marcus defending East Barricade Academy, Defying his orders, left believing Adam died and with the swing of a gavel. Cut to black, credits.
Anyone else notice Marcus and even Dom look significantly smaller? Seems like a nice touch that they literally had to change physically (aka muscle mass) to better face the new threat. Granted they are still absolute units but gears 3 Marcus was fucking house of a human.
They aren't really smaller, it's just that the Locust are actually to scale in the trailer.
