  • Stop counting rep when doing calisthenics! question is why why should we stop counting our reps when working out, what are benefits to not doing that. In this video me and Ryan from minus the gym discuss the idea of not counting our reps and why doing this every now and then could lead to more gains. Does counting reps hold us back, does it impact our performance , do we sacrifice what is actually important? these are important questions and hopefully the idea makes sense after this video
I highly recommend checking out Ryan's channel here to get more information and calisthenics and plant based eating

I like this thinking. I remember Athlean X doing a video on this topic probably 10 years ago that was my introduction to auto-regulation. Definetely changed things for me.

It’s a great variable to add in to switch up your focus on your training which can be useful and make people focus on what’s important

I realized counting hindered my push ups and pull ups as soon as I stopped I went from 10 pulls up to 25 and 20 pushups to 50

That’s a awesome result, is it something you still do or use every now and then?

@@LeeDowningKeat every now and then if I have someone with me I get them to secretly count my reps while I just focus strictly on the exercises

This is an annoying format. I'd rather listen to the whole thing in one go. I understand increasing the number of videos on the channel, but, meh...the long video on Calisthenics programming you broke up after it was over was a better way to do it. I still went back to the shorter videos for the bits I wanted to review. But, hey, it's your channel.

I understand that, the reason for it is most people won’t be interested in watching a 90 mins video and would perhaps miss bits that were actually interested in. This way people can tune into what they actually want. The full version is uploaded and will go live after . I did put an intro video asking if people wanted the full version to comment and like the video, so far you are the only one wanting to see the full version. I appreciate your comment and feedback , after releasing the full version and then breaking up to smaller ones, the views and retention wasn’t as good so this was a test to see if it would be different this way. Sorry you find it annoying but hope you stick around for the others or if you prefer the full version. The full version will be live 17th of September, it will also have clips that I didn’t feel would be enough to have videos for themselves, maybe shorts in the future but more overall content there. Hope that answers your question 🙏
