Hello..I appreciate your videos so much..!! I had ileostomy surgery 8 weeks ago. I Have had a lot of complications to deal with. I have mucosal separation and granulomas .. Now my Dr. tells me I have a parastomal hernia. ..I am so overwhelmed. In addition to all of this, I have a very large midline incision that has been infected and draining and I have to pack it twice daily. I am having some problems with it and issues with that. I have a scheduled CAT scan as something is going on ..This is all been very overwhelming and I can’t wait until the day when I can just get on with my life. Your videos have helped me a lot and been very informative. I know that you have been through a lot as well and you have been through many surgeries. You give me Hope.. !!. I’m 65 and have had bowel issues for over 30 years and I’ve had many many surgeries. Finally had the ileostomy which I was in the hospital for 2 1/2 months and had 2 major surgeries due to complications then… I was so excited to finally come home, but have had all these other complications sense. I love your videos about all the different bags as it can be very confusing and overwhelming. And everything else that you cover. Thank you so much. !! Thank you for the help that you give me and give to others and for sharing your story… THANK YOU..

Great video. Good to see you back. Missed you. You look great. I'm going through hernia problems right now. My doctor doesn't seemed to worried about so I just have to keep an eye on it. Can't wait till the next video.

Thank you so much! You’re so kind, I really have missed you all. I’m sorry to hear about your hernia...I’ve had the same response from doctors. They usually want to wait to act, which is so frustrating, but sometimes less is more when it comes to repair surgery. I’ll be here for you if you need a chat. I hope that hernia doesn’t get worse. Please be careful and stay safe. ❤️

Hi .. any chance in the future of doing a video on how to strengthen the abs to prevent hernia, based on prior physio that helped you? Stay safe 😊😊

I get to go home tomorrow. Would love another Ostomy supplies video. I am trying to make sure I have enough supplies. Ordering a Stealth Belt tomorrow. Do use wraps to make sure you don’t get hernias??

I'm thrilled that you're going home soon. I will absolutely do another ostomy supplies video! That's a great idea. I have a hernia belt and sometimes use Kinesio tape to support my abdominal muscles. It isn't a perfect way to prevent hernias but I find it helpful. Since you just had your operation, a hernia belt is probably the best way to go because the tape can be painful to pull off while you still have staples (and probably a lot of tenderness) in your belly. I'll list the most essential supplies below (hopefully they'll send you home with most of these items):
Ostomy bags, if two-piece make sure the flanges match the bag
Barrier rings to put around the hole you cut in the bag
Cavilon pads (or some other skin-prep agent) to prevent peristomal irritation
Stoma powder, which you'll need to cake on with the cavilon/skin prep agent on the area directly around your stoma
      Alcohol-free adhesive remover wipes/spray
These are my must-haves, so feel free to use them as a starting point when ordering supplies:
Coloplast Sensura Mio Ostomy Pouch REF # 10471 (I usually use convex bags but since you just had the operation and probably aren't retracting I'd recommend non-convex)
Coloplast Moldable Ring REF # 120307
Coloplast Brava Adhesive Remover Spray REF # 120105
Coloplast Brava Stoma Powder REF # 019075
Coloplast Brava Elastic Barrier Strips REF # 120700
If you want to see exactly how I put my bag on, here's the link: ruclips.net/video/0XGArku0OnU/видео.html
Wishing you luck and a safe trip home!!! 💕

Cecily Living_Beyond the Bag a month and a half of supplies from Coloplast and set my insurance up. So the will send me three months of supplies ahead of time. Just need to call them and discuss what I like. Going to get one and two piece appliances and decide after that.

Good call! It’s hard to decide which system is best. Don’t be afraid to try new products because you’ll probably find some that you end up loving! So glad you’re set up with supplies. 😊

Cecily Living_Beyond the Bag it’s been a rough couple of days. The drain tube causing lots of pain, but still keeping it in a couple more days. Stoma looks great and I am already a pro changing appliance. So no problems there. Got 47 staples stomach.

I’m sorry to hear that you’re struggling, but I’m so impressed that bag changes have been going smoothly-that’s the hardest part for many people. 47 staples sounds so painful, I only had about half that for each of my operations. Is the tube permanent? I’m praying for you and I’m soooo glad that the stoma looks good. You’ll have to think of a name for it! 😊

Cecily Living_Beyond the Bag Yep permanent Ileostomy, Barbie butt. I am having a hard time coming up with a name so far, they took the JP tube out an hour ago and I feel great. Still sore but manageable. So excited for when they tell me to go home. The weirdest part has been completely losing the sensations to go to the restroom. Will keep ya updated.

Yay! The tube is out. It sounds like you're progressing really well. Losing the urge to defecate will become very normal soon. Personally, losing that urge was a god-send to me.
