    I bet most people here are considering or already have purchased the S20 FE
    And while they were waiting for their product (like me), simply watched every single RUclips video about it, feeling blessed that it is basically approved by reviewer
    Then it came to a point where they ran out of reviews, but they wanted more content, so they just clicked on the teardown video :')
    great content though, necessary content honestly, new sub for sure

      Hopefully your screen display doesn't bork like mine apparently has. It just blacks out randomly and at times gives a green static image like you would see on an old tube TV. I came to watch this video because I was considering doing a replacement myself. Think i'll skip it and just have someone else do it. Looks pretty complicated. Conveniently enough it's exactly 2 years since I got it.

I recently purchased this phone and the power button completely fell off and Samsung won't cover it and wants to charge me $200 on top of it to fix it. I'm just gonna order a replacement button and do it myself. How far do I have to go into this process to be able to reinstall a new button? If necessary at all. Do the buttons just pop or do I definitely need to take the back off and some parts to get access to those side buttons from the inside. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

      Also, do you recommend any phone repair kits that include those tools you used to remove the back, screws, wires, etc.. they look very helpful to have down the road and the mass amount of knowledge I've gained of phone construction throughout watching this video. It all seems so simple now I'm 100% confident I'm able to do any phone part replacement now, so thank you mu friend!

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  Год назад +2

      Thanks. Some buttons can be pushed in/popped into place from the outside and some have to be inserted internally so not sure you can try the first method and if it doesn't work then try from inside. As for internally, you would need to remove the back plate, the screws and cover over the motherboard, and disconnect the cables on the motherboard and remove it since it is seated on the flex cable for the power button. Then you can pull up on the metal bracket in the slot on the frame to pull out the power button flex, giving you access to the physical button itself.

    • @jamesSmith-hg1tf
      @jamesSmith-hg1tf Год назад +1

      Ok. I appreciate it. Hopefully it just pops right in but if not I'm pretty confident I can get to it internally with the help of this video if I have to. Samsung warranty is a joke so I'll definitely be fixing it myself. Thanks.

      Hi, you're welcome. Yes in most cases if its taken apart, it looses the ip68 or water resistance. May I know that what's the difference between (ghapite film) & the (heat pipe) as seen on the recent Galaxy A72? Which type of these dissipates heat faster?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 года назад

      I have yet to see the A72 internals, but graphite film is usually used on the main board parts or over the battery, and the 3D layer of graphite is what you see on the midframe right under where the processor of the main board would lay. The 3D layer of graphite does just as well if not better than the copper heat pipes. It lasts longer also since the small droplets of liquid in the heat pipe can evaporate over time.

    Have a question? Had an issue w the screen doing bizarre stuff even not responding properly. Now, there was a loose cable but after fixing that and putting everything together, i wanted to try to see if it works so I didn't put the screws back. Now, it charges and I can actually see the screen, but it won't power up. Is there any connector that affects the power button or is it not powering on because of not being screwed back properly? I'll answer the second as I assume the answer will take time. So, any other reason it wouldn't power on even w a charge?

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  10 месяцев назад

      Yes the motherboard sits on the flex cable for the volume and power button and makes a connection. So if its not screwed down, the power button wont work. You can always hold down the motherboard to the frame to make it touch and have a connection without screwing it down.

    It's really infuriating how hard they make it to remove the battery. I'm mostly talking about the glue, but so much else could have been done to make it easily replaceable. Even in an airport without tools! I do like how easily removable so many other parts are (apart from the heat gun parts). So that's a good thing. But the battery part is the deal breaker for me.

    • @PBKreviews
      @PBKreviews  3 года назад +3

      Yup, now a days you can also use isopropyl alcohol to loosen up the adhesive underneath making it easier to pry the battery off but ya you would not be able to do it at an airport :). I don't mind these type of internal batteries but if at least they provided some sort of contacts on the back like how the moto z line of phones had attachable accessories and add on's, one would be able to put an external battery on even if the internal battery stopped working or went bad. Or they can just make it a tad bit easier to replace the internal batteries :)

    If anyone happens to see this video and comment because they are looking for an older model or used phone to buy, the power button is a major flaw.
    It fell out regularly starting about half a year after purchase, I always got to push it back in with some trying, but eventually lost it on a trip last week. Repair shops told me that they would need to replace the entire display to fix the button, which is also a statement I found in other reports online. If at all, get a silicone cover that covers the buttons from the start. Otherwise, you will end up like me: The moment my battery dies, my phone is dead as well, unless I invest half the value of a new phone into it.
    I now ordered a replacement button, I am not sure if those are really official but they look the same, and they have some plastic to hold them into place so you can't just push a new one in from the outside. I am not confident to try to fix it on my own, especially since that part looks really difficult to reach.
    Also, I have recently had people telling me that they can't understand me when making calls. Someone described a knocking sound. At first I thought it might be the connection, but by now everyone told me they had issues understanding me. I have only had the phone since August 2022 and had it constantly covered in an official flip case (EF-ZG780), which however does not cover the buttons. There also hasn't been any fall or water damage, so I have no idea why that would have happened. I couldn't find any other reports of this happening, though.

      Its possible you might have pierced through the filter covering the hole but the mic sits on top of the hole so you would not hit it to damage the mic. The memory chip or ROM is soldered to the main board and is not user replaceable. You can try finding a repair shop that may have expertise in soldering which can de solder and move over the ROM to another motherboard of the same make n model but I don't think it would be cheap.

    Idk if I'm stupid and should've just known about this beforehand or not but I thought that my charging port needed to be replaced/cleaned so I took the phone apart to do so and some screws touched the motherboard and short-circuited it, causing my phone to be rendered useless. At the time I didn't know that though, I tried (and failed) to clean the charging port, then tried (and failed) to put the phone back together. I took it to a store that fixes phones the next day. Employee puts it back together and looks at it for 5 seconds. "You just needed to clean the charging port." He cleans it for me, and comes back. Then he tells me about the motherboard, and how it would be more expensive to replace that than to get a new phone. He also told me I should've just brought it to them first, and... yeah. I should've. But he commended me for trying at least, so, that's something.
