    It's like to see a video of taking a mature philodendron and selecting the right spots to cut to start the tc process. These videos are great. I have a lab and I already do most of this with mushroom cultivation but it's interesting seeing plants in agar.

    This is perfect! I'm trying to tissue culture philodendrons as well. One question, have you ever used keiki paste instead of the 6-BA? I know they are both cytokinins but I didn't have any 6-BA on hand so i put a tiny bit of keiki paste in it... also I like your more relaxed approach to the instructional videos, gives me more faith in doing this at home!

    Great videos, do you use storage solution for you ph meter? if not it will have a short life, small piece of sponge in cap and a few drops of storage solution. I upgraded my ph meter due to frequent calibration issues with that model, mostly bumping or not delicate handling throwing off the metering. Thanks for the videos, inspiring.

    Question: how do you figure out that your media sterilized in the microwave? In your previous video you mentioned that it takes you 7 min but that we need to figure our time out with our microwave. How do you understand what is the optimal time?

    Hello Tatum! Thanks so much for making these videos, they have helped me so much. I have just made my first batch but I made one mistake. I forgot to top it off with the distilled water to reach 1000ml (1 liter). I did not realize until after I did everything. Do you think I should still leave my plants in that media or make a new batch?
    Also, I was wondering if tissue culturing anthuriums is possible. If so, do you have the protocols for that?
    Thanks so much.

    • @TatumSweet
      @TatumSweet  2 года назад +5

      Hey Emily! I’ve totally been there before. Happens all the time! I would probably go ahead and make a new batch, unfortunately. Without topping it off, it will make the concentrations of the PGRs higher and the pH can also be off. It sucks when that happens, I’m so sorry🥲 also, yes! You can TC anthuriums! I never have, so I don’t have a protocol for it on hand, but I’ll see if I can find one for you:)

    I've been binge watching your videos and was wondering if just MS media will help to grow plant tissues without the hormones?
    Thanks you so much for uploading the videos and informing us about tissue culture. I've known about TC for a long time now but wasn't exactly sure of how to start. Watching your is really informative and helps make me less afraid of trying to start my own plant tissue culture.

    When you get a 10pc bag of philodendron from your supplier, and you want to start creating more.. Do you use the "shoots" protocol and place 1 pc per container? Basically I'm missing a link between what to do when you get TC philodendron in and want to make more.

    • @TatumSweet
      @TatumSweet  2 года назад +1

      I’ll go more in depth in the sterilization video and the show you the entire process, but yes! I usually pick out about 5 out of the 10 to put back into TC, then I sterilize, then I put them into the “shoots” media. Sometimes I put every single one into their own container and sometimes I put 2-3 in the same one. No rhyme or reason there, just sort of depends on what I have on hand:) hope that helps!
