I've ordered his book. What a great talk and consideration of the precious miracle of this country!

I am listening to the audiobook, if I were a social studies teacher I would make all my students read it and we would have such interesting discussions! Alas I am just a homeschool mom. This is such a great read, no matter where you come from, “if you can keep it” explains the behind the scenes, things we have taken for granted about our country, what liberty really is and why it worked here and could not work anywhere else. I love it and will recommend it. It is already a required reading in my homeschool, 😊

You are a blessing! While visiting Toronto recently, I first heard about "If You Can Keep It" when you were being interviewed on WDCX radio. I took notes ... "to keep it is to look after it" and "blessed to be a blessing". God bless the U.S.A. May God keep on blessing you, Eric Metaxas! With much respect and love from Canada, Evy

In this crazy election year, it did me good to be reminded why America is exceptional and that we must preserve virtue. We cannot lose sight of who we are despite the shrill clatter of demagogues. Thank you for your voice of reason. I ordered your book and can't wait to read it! God bless you!

The pledge of allegiance moment brought tears to my eyes like so many patriotic symbols are doing now days. The flag passing in a parade, The missing man formation is our fly overs just kill me.

"I submit to you, for the last 40 years or so we have forgotten what it takes to keep it and we have forgotten how important it is for us to keep it. And so I really think we have come to a place where we are in trouble, we aren't keeping it. It's like a cut flower, it looks nice but its dead in a couple weeks its not going to look so good because its divorced from its roots." Eric Metaxas

I really like Eric's presentation. But I ask myself where in Europe do you go to jail for going to the wrong church?

Emanuel Schellner I'm sure he was referring to the 17th or 18th century, when Catholics or other religions were persecuted in countries like England for not being Protestant or whatever the case may be

I love the title and the idea of your book. The USA is the only country that has a true republic and the willingness to let it citizens be free dictatorship and anarchy. We should have a national language, ENGLISH because if you visit other countries most of the time you have to do business in their language. Your presentation was some what disappointing because it didn't stay on topic and provide a lot of /some details from your book. I'm sure your book is fantastic. Yes, one must understand history so that it isn't repeated but acknowledging wrongs is a huge step in recognizings ones mishaps and reconciliation with other people. What happened to the minorities in your audience? People must grow thick skin in order to have tough conversations so that we can become productive, rational, and objective citizens. You can say that parent choice schools are fantastic, but for who, for certain folks? In those choice schools in certain neighborhoods, do you think the the children are doing better than the public schools , besides the co operations making and embezzling millions from the students? Do you really think that all public school teachers are horrible, ineffective , lazy, and complacent ? You struck a nerve with me and countless other hardworking teachers. We spend a lot of out of pocket money to purchase materials for our students in which we never get reimbursed. We don't nor can't decide who we will teach. We teach whoever comes through the front door regardless of their ethnicity, background, income, religion , and parents. It would be a luxury to pick and choose students who aren't dyscfunctional with bad behavior problems and parents who aren't willing to help their children succeed. You seem to think its all the teachers fault. Well, it's not ! Why don't you look at the administration? They are the ones who make all the decisions in which they don't have daily contact with students. They tell teachers what to teach, how to teach, which hoops to jump through, it's a real nasty political system just like the election process. You have failing schools just like you have failing government systems in certain states. Everything starts from the top and flows to the desperate bottom. DON'T TEACHER Bash ! You're right, you can keep it, if you know how the game is played . Why should other people from other nations come to the USA and tell us what to do and how to operate our government system? Saluting our flag is patriotic and it gives us a sense of pride and humbleness. How do you think you got as far as you did today? Learning the basics and building on that foundation to flourish into the current author/Yale graduate. Some opportunities vanish. Don' t take things for granted because everyone is not given the same opportunities.

Actually George Whitefield believed that man does not bear the true image of God because of original sin.

It's scandalous that Eric Metaxas failed to mention that after slavery had been abolished in Georgia, George Whitefield fought to legalise slavery in Georgia because he thought of African Americans as "subordinate creatures", and George Whitefield won the battle to re-legalise slavery! All because he wanted to run his orphanage cheaply! I'm surprised that Eric Metaxas would speak highly of such a wicked man. Even at his death, George Whitefield didn't let his slaves go free but gifted them to his benefactor.
