      Messianic Jews are a thing. Prager is obviously pretty knowledgeable, and I feel it's useful to Christians to inherit the way Jews understand scripture in order to help us in our own understanding of it. Jew and Gentile have much to teach and learn between one another, and we need more conversations like this to discuss interpretation and doctrine.

      I think you misunderstand. There are good fruits when obeying God (the Holy Spirit) and we can’t care about the criticism we get for it. Lots of examples of that in today’s godless world.
      Hitler contemplated evil, which he carried out, and those results (fruits) were anathema to God’s law.

    As a Christ Follower, I CAN'T separate the God of Creation, that included Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, and the God who sacrificed himself in Human form, to allow the sinful Mankind, a pathway back to God. A Holy God cannot abide sin. When Mankind sinned, God ALREADY had a plan of Salvation. Genesis 3:15.
    When you are caught up in the rules and regulations of your "Religion", you do not honor God, but Man. When you accept the Gift of Salvation, knowing your "good works" alone, DON'T save you, {so no one can boast} you Honor God by doing those good works. God alone has planned for your life, the things that honor HIM. Our helper, The Holy Spirit, guides us, and pricks our heart when we do wrong. We feel joyful when we do right. We know the voice of our Lord.

    God knows the intent of our hearts so if our heart really isn't into what good we're trying to do God sees right through that and He said it's like dross and will be burned up on the day of Judgement. Evil thoughts dwelled on lead to sinful actions.

    Eric, I hold you and Dennis both in great esteem and appreciate you discussing your thoughts on this most critical area of everyone’s life (mind).
    Might I ask how the two of you reflect on the statements of David in the Psalms; “Who can discern his errors? Acquit me of hidden faults. Also, keep back Thy servant from presumptuous sins; Let them not rule over me; then I shall be blameless.
    David seems to share this position with several of his peers (other prophets);
    Are we not able to understand our own minds completely?
    Are we just so perverted by our sinful nature we have difficulty seeing how dreadfully sinful our minds and behavior our natures are?
    When I reflect on the numerous encounters Jesus had with his disciples regarding their thoughts it appears so. Some are told they are thinking like Satan, get behind Him (focused on living vs God’s plan for X to die). Others he explained how flawed (temporal) their thinking was because they wanted reward for service after death. He then shared He didn’t control this and the structure of God’s reward system was almost diametrically opposed to human (again temporal) thinking.
    What has always intrigued me was Davids comments, after many years of struggling to simply survive king (Saul) trying to kill him and he himself needing to turn down multiple opportunities (tests) to kill Saul not to thwart Gods plan. Yet, he was lying and deceiving gentile kings (acting crazy and appearing to be a partner, yet not) and committing genocidal acts on raids (killing all children, women and aged men [non-combatants], to not leave witnesses).
    Then later Paul gives direction as to what we ought to think on and what not to meditate (reflect) on (good vs bad). Capturing our thoughts and bringing them captive to Him.
    I do ok some days, but when fear permeates my noodle and worry overwhelms me (usually when I perceive my troubles are beyond management), I find it near impossible to capture, surrender, manage anything much less my thoughts.

    Lust is not of God. Lust is self-focused, meaning that one's primary objective is to satisfy their own physical desires. Love, on the other hand, which can include physical affection, is of God. Love is others-focused, meaning that one's primary objective is to do what will make the other person happy. There should be no place in a person's heart, either before or after marriage, for lustful feelings and desires.

  • @JadeDragon407
    @JadeDragon407 Год назад

    Would love to see you and Prager together in a SitC session; that's a great idea! The discussion y'all were having definitely could've went on for hours if it were allowed to. There was yet a whole 53' moving truck of knowledge and debate sitting out in the driveway awaiting to be unpacked. The thought-sin is something I frequently struggle with, unfortunately. There are thoughts I have that I know good and well aren't good to have (some relating to other sins of the 10), although I try to keep my mind such as these kinds of thoughts don't creep in, and if they to, to send them on their way before they set in.
    Now, in regard to the lust thoughts, I'm glad this came up. Covet and lust are two entirely different things, and part of the struggle I've had when it comes to the maidens is if lust = sin, then desiring even a single gal would be a sin by that definition. It's an unfortunate conceptual translation of God's Word, because it leads Christians to believe that one shouldn't even think about or desire in ANY kind of special intimacy before marriage [obviously we're not to DO it], but... attraction is an inherent thing, and hence, the struggle I think Christians face.
    Honestly, this may also be why there is a high rate of teen pregnancy (esp in the South) among Christians, likely with the mindset of if it's a sin to even think about it, may as well do it. Maybe something along those lines could be addressed in another talk/video. In my own case, it may be a 20% of the reason why i'm in my mid-40s and single [but there's a lot more reasons in my personal case such as modern female desire for fashion and other consumerism, the looks aren't "all that" to attract them, and the risk of a lady can leave at ANY time after marriage, and the courts simply are going to take her side no matter what, which gets additionally problematic and painful when younguns are involved].

    I LOVED this conversation! For most of my adult life I have been disenchanted with religion. I now realize that was because most of the teaching I received was so watered down. Conversations like this one are what was missing. My own 2 cents: the reason Jesus said that lust (covet is a much better word) is equal to committing the act is that coveting leads to jealousy, anger and resentment, which are all opposite of loving our fellow man.

    Good intentions that are not examined for their effects is a form of pride - you refuse to look at the results in a humble way. You may think you understand the situation but what if you are wrong? There is an inner laziness to unexamined good intentions - not being willing to look at results or contrary evidence is not having a deep-seated good intention. Loving truth is the only valid ground for good intentions.

    Dennis Prager, you actually made Jesus's point regarding his statements in the gospel of Matthew about man lusting in his heart. Men's sinful nature keeps him separated from God. God sent his only son to be the perfect sacrifice to atone for our sins. We have a sin debt we could never pay, but Jesus paid it in our stead. Re read John 3:16 through 18. Then choose to believe, and put your life in Jesus' hands, Who is The Perfect Jew, the Jewish Messiah, and be saved and forgiven from all your sins.
    Every Jew that has come to Faith in Jesus said it was the most Jewish thing they had ever done in their lives, and the Bible exploded and opened up for them in ways they had never known before!

    Fun conversation. To speak on the part of Judaism, Rabbis in the mussur movement articulate and differentiate between cognitive changes and changing ones thoughts as means of changing your demeanor vs following the rule of the law in order to better yourself. Both are actually integral components to character development. Nonetheless the Rabbis teach us that good actions which are done with non altruistic intentions will eventually lead to good actions being done with altruistic intentions ....

    Jesus in Matthew 5:27-30 mentions the issue with lust. What Jesus did, was showed us even if we think and contemplate these things and other negative and destructive thoughts we elevate it onto a SPIRITUAL PLANE. That's why it's SPIRITUAL WARFARE (in Ephesians) and we called to put on the ARMOUR OF GOD - EVERYDAY. Jesus does not want us to contribrute to this even via our thoughts. When in Jesus, we pray for purity and being transformed by our Lord and Savior - day by day. And this is why we strive for His transformation in us.
    God bless.

Jesus was a carpenter, He built our home to house His Holy Spirit this is why we must receive Him as Lord and Savior with our own free will to believe He is Lord. His Spirit will lead us to repentance because His Holy Spirt working in us is truth so we can walk in truth and live in freedom which aligns with His Word. Sin is not freedom.
    Those who do not love Jesus do not love God the Father because if you have seen Him, you have seen the Father. Such a beautiful mystery even in the 1st 5 books of the Bible.

    Here the reason not to covet is the damage it does to you, not the fact that it belongs to someone else.

    Why don't you ask this guy why the rabbis removed one chapter from the Old Testament that prophesied Jesus? You know, witch one.

      Yup, Isaiah 53. My Jewish dentist told me that years ago when I asked him about it. He said, "we just ignore it". That will not serve you well in the end sir.

    First of all, there is no such thing as Judeo Christian concept of God. Throughout the Old Testament, there is the Father the Son and the Holy Spirit. If the jews were ever to read the Old Testament, they would believe in the true God. But they don't. They read the Talmud instead. There is no Father without the Son. That is why they have a different religion.
    Isn't this guy that said his father used to watch porn and he had a successful marriage? Why do you think he said that? There are two reasons. If you were a truthful person, you would address it.

    Eric, i see you are a big supporter of Dr. Tour and creation, but at the same time you also seem to believe like him in the infinite universe and everything space related, as a given afterthought.
    I will give you the benefit of the doubt , however i have a simple question for you:
    If i have never seen a real photograph of the earth taken from space and neither have you, even if you prefer to deny it or claim ignorance or be indifferent, then how can we be sure that the space "they" are teaching us is a real thing just because it looks real, all the evidence or lack of points to the possibility that this hoax is all made up.
    Hope that if you are sincere you will have an answer or maybe the photographs, it will really solve for me a lot of the mysteries of life, probably more than debating who created this, without even knowing if this is real or a simple construct.
