This one was definitely more a love letter to the old Adam West Batman series. It's funny how the Burton/Schumacher Batman movies progressed like the classic Batman comics where it started out the dark, gothic noir style and morphed into the bright, colorful campy style.
Not even. This movie was crafted to sell toys and cereals. That’s it. And to that end, it did a pretty stellar job. Like most kids at the time...i had every toy.
When they interviewed Joel Schumacher, he said he was making a "comic book" not a comic book movie. But you can tell he's definitely a fan of the Adam West Batman.
The Dark Knight RISES is Great it's not Boring at all The same thing with Batman Begins and The Dark Knight and Tim Burton's Batman All 4 of Those Movies are Incredible Masterpieces
I don't think Batman & Robin is the worst ever made! That title for me has to go films like The Room, Scary Movie 5, Epic Movie, 50 Shades of Black, Disaster Movie etc. However I do think Batman & Robin is the worst ever made by a highly competent and proven director!! Joel Schumacher was actually a very talented and proven director. He directed classics such as The Client, A Time to Kill, The Lost Boys, Tigerland etc.
I love The Dark knight rises but man those insecure, loser, fanboys are scum for sending you death threats. Sorry you went through that crap. Keep up the good work Matt.
Honestly, Batman & Robin was the only Batman film (from 1989 and onwards) that didn't bore me to pieces. Heath Ledger was the only reason I found The Dark Knight interesting (Tommy "Tiny" Lister was good in a brief part, too).
Batman & Robin is a bad film Matt but it's not the worst fillm I seen there's worse films I seen like Freddy Got Fingered, Epic Movie, Love Guru, Going Overboard, Movie 43, Left Behind Remake, Die Hard 5, Halloween 2 2009, The Wicker ManRemake, Fat Slags & Ultraviolet

Recently, he has been jailed for it. With the review I generally agree, it was truly terrible and the worst Batman and worst Joel Schumacher film ever.
I liked this film when I was a kid. I believe I saw it in the theater when I was kid but I don’t remember. I grew up with this film like the other Batman films but unlike Batman Forever, I grew to hate this movie. It’s crazy how similar the first 4 Batman movies are to the Christoper Reeves Superman films. For both franchises, most people enjoy the first two and mostly everyone hates the last 2. And for me, I can’t stand that people lump Batman Forever with Batman And Robin just like how I don’t like when people lump Superman 3 with Superman 4. Good job reviewing these films again Matt.
"Superman III" actually wasn't that bad. Not as good as the first two, but still enjoyable. It was interesting that they got away from Lex Luthor and Lois Lane & Robert Vaughn made a good villain. However, Richard Pryor was useless and the blonde woman crony & *especially* that darn kid got *right* on my nerves. Like you *just wanted* the harvesters to crush him! I've never seen the fourth but, by the sounds and looks of it, it was the worst.

Personally I don't like Batman & Robin but the only thing I thought was funny I like is the dialogue throughout the film & I thought Arnold Schwarzenegger was the Funniest part of the movie as Mr. Freeze I thought he was the only good thing in the movie the rest is Shit I think Dark Knight Rises is the Worst Film in the franchise its boring & mediocre, lame story, & worse than Batman & Robin cause that's at least very funny at times
Canon wise they screwed up more characters. I mean Mr Freeze was accurate to the comics for the most part, but Batgirl is Barbara Gordon, daughter of commissioner Gordon. She's not Alfred's niece because that would make her Barbara Pennyworth and that's a whole different universe. But yeah 🖕🏽 this movie.
I like when Arnold said " I hate when people talk during the movie." I have to agree with him because I don't like that either. But the rest of the movie just plain sucks Great rant, man :)
That R Kelly parady was better than the movie great review Matt . What did you think what would have happened if they made a 5th film Batman Beyond which I believe was supposed to come out. in like 2001
But the big budget kinda makes the film a little bit more insufferable, because give the Adam West show credit, at least it was cheap. At least you weren't blowing Scandanavia on it. Batman & Robin though, so much money goes into it, and... I just don't think it's funny!
George Clooney has said countless times how he absolutely hates this movie, I recall what inspired Joel to cast him in the role was a print ad of him in From Dusk Till Dawn and he drew a bat-cowl on the picture. Clooney certainly has proven to be a good actor, but even he admits that this wasn't his best. And the picture of Mr Freeze in the slippers is the very first Batman and Robin image I ever saw, it was from one of those 'official movie mags'. I have to agree on the Nolanverse Batman movies, too dark and serious.
With this one they tried to repeat the Hit that was Batman Forever they figured if people liked Forever being a popcorn movie why not make an even bigger popcorn movie. This movie suffers from overdoing everything that worked in Forever to the point of extreme insanity. Arnold got the role as Freeze because they were trying to get someone that could equal the comedy of Jim Carry they wanted Arnold to bring his funny PUN delivery to the character. The problem is Ice is the only joke that Arnold gets in the entire film it's overkill everything is overdone here. George as Batman here is super plain and lifeless Chris as Robin is doing fine for what he's told to do and Bane is just there he does nothing. Poison Ivy is also just there I have never been a fan of that villain and her plant gimmick. This film suffers from what most sequels do excess going too far with it. Had the film kept a similar or same tone as Batman Forever it could have worked as just popcorn fun like that one. People like the Nolan films because they like that he treats Batman super seriously like the comics while making him feel like a real-world character. This movie takes the exact opposite approach it's a cartoon that could have worked if it was fun but it overdoes everything. Part of me wonders though if someone could like this movie if they did love the 60s show I have no idea because I also like the 60s show always found this lesser and dumber and less well executed in the camp variety.
I didn't see it until I was 23 or 24 on DVD borrowed it from the library I knew it was a shit film before seeing it. Only good thing Alicia Silverstone was sexy in this film.

To me, George Clooney was a quite a good Bruce Wayne, but as Batman, he was hopeless! To pull off the character, you need to successfully juggle the two personalities. Not just play yourself the entire time in or out of the costume.
Don't worry Matt, I'm not a fan of The Dark Knight Rises either. Granted, I don't hate it anywhere near as much as you do, but it is definitely one of those movies that gets worse and worse every time I think about it.
