- "The Guyver," known as "Mutronics" in Europe and South America, was released in 1991. This movie was directed by Screaming Mad George and Steve Wang, with Brian Yuzna as the producer. It draws loose inspiration from Yoshiki Takaya's Japanese manga series of the same name and was created in collaboration with Shochiku Films. The cast includes Mark Hamill, Vivian Wu, Jack Armstrong, Jimmie Walker, and David Gale.
The film centers on Sean Barker (played by Armstrong), a young man who stumbles upon an extraterrestrial artifact called "The Unit." This device transforms him into a hybrid super soldier known as "The Guyver." Barker soon discovers that a powerful corporation called Chronos is determined to obtain the Guyver unit and is engaged in the genetic engineering of monstrous creatures. The film received a mixed response from both critics and fans. A sequel titled "Guyver: Dark Hero" was released in 1994.

Thanks so much for uploaded this! Tonight I just randomly remember watching this movie over and over as a kid and so happy to find clips of it on youtube.

I thought it was just some one off sci fi movie. Will have to check it out the sequel when I get a second and 100% buying the 4k when I have spending money.

That Monster doesn't look like a Zoalord it more looks like a T-Rax Dragon Hybrid Zoanoid
haha, there are a few Zoanoids later down the line that are more "beast-like" than humanoid in the manga. What impresses me is the complexity of pulling that creature off on such a small budget!

Real talk, even if Dark hero is better in almost every way, the cinematography of the transformation along with the delivery of the line "my powers will be magnified beyond belief" are genuinely amazing and capture the tone of source materiel without being too much of a caricature of an anime adaptation.
If only we got more of Guilot in Dark hero.

Zoalord model was created by Screaming Mad George and he did a GREAT job. Check out "Budget Biomoprhs: The making of the Guyver Films" by Dom O'Brien to learn more about these special movies!
I wish the guyver movies were more accurate to the comics. Like scene of guyver getting defeated by regular zoanoids. A guyver can drop regular zoanoids with no effort. Also, zoalords can block the megasmasher and other guyver weapons. Guyver movies need remakes.
I agree we need remakes for sure! As far as accuracy, I totally understand, but they also were a small independent feature in the early 90's, so there was some "give and take" and some tonal issues (mainly with the first). But I think today we could get a fairly accurate adaptation if the right Guyver Geek came along. :)

The Mega Smasher is like the Kamehameha. But only coming out of the chest and not the hands.
Def that way in the movie. In the manga, the Guyver also has gravity orbs he can shoot from his belt, controlled by his hands.
Always using the Mega Smasher as the last resort.
yeah, it's pretty OP in the live-action universe. In the anime/manga, it's used much more frequently as there is always way more zoanoids to deal with. Also, easier to animate/draw than use for movie budgets in the 90's

This movie needs a remake, wow! I just saw a bunch of comments that agree with me too! Haha awesome. Such huge potential for The Guyver. I vote the Same people from the new DUNE movies, they could make this the next big thing. For real!
