@@tylerhuxford44 Oh that was 30 years ago. I learned that it was a miracle that reef fish even existed due to how they are spawned into the water. Being consumed as with plankton. Then only a very few of the millions spawned would even survive to make it back to their region of a reef system. To continue the next generation of that species. Then man came along and started stealing them to sell into the marine aquarium hobby, only to die with in 6 months. So I decided to learn all I could about the hobby so I could at least provide a home few just a few to live out their lives. I bought a copy of a book called marine aquariums from beginner to breeder. After many trials and errors I was sucessful. I was able to set up a fish only 150 gallon aquarium. The avaliablity of equipment needed was not so readily avaliable. So I had to make most of the equipment like a U.V. sterilizer I got from a wtater treatment company and modified it. I didn't have access to live rock so I purchased pieces of dried corals and created a reef structure. That could be taken down in sections and cleaned the placed right back into postion. I used simple materials and made a protein skimmer and bulit a multi chambered wet/ dry sump filter. system. The biggest problem was aquariums back then only use clear silicone that would dry out from the salt and leak. So I had to change them out several times. Long story short I was able to keep a Powder Blue Tang, a group of 3 Blue Hepo Tangs as well as many other reef fish species for 8 -10 years. I got out of the hobby do to employment reasons, however I resently got back into it. At the moment I have a 60 gallon cube fish only with a dried live rock reef. It containes a Darwin Black percule clown fish, Yellow wrasse, Flame angel, Tomini Tang, Randels gobby with a Tiger pistol shrimp, and a good clean up crew of blue hermit crabs and Nitrous snails. I still utilze a manufactued U.V. sterlizer, Protien skimmer and a set of hang on filters. Because there easier to service. It has been doing great for several years now out side of replinishing my clean up crew I haven't lost a thing. Sorry for the long winded response.

You can add acanthurus group tang together
Rule of thumb : put 2-3 or more together at the same time
So none of them are established before, as these fishes are highly territorial once established, also having other large fishes of similar temperment may help to keep and divide the aggression level down
Lol I can't even keep my power blue with my blue tang in my 5 feet tank . Both were introduced together, it was good and well for months ..
Then suddenly they powder blue started attacking my blue tang constantly!! So I have to divide them , and finally rehome the powder blue!!!
Note : I only have powder blue, blue tang and few clownfish that time .

I’m not a saltwater hobby enthusiast by any means, but the powder blue tang has always been a favorite saltwater fish of mine.

I would recommend an acclamation box for any introduction but especially tangs, I have 17 tangs in a single tank including a number of acanthurus tangs in the same tank, a powder blue, achillies, convict and a dussumieri so they can be kept together QT and tank size is key.

We have a 30+ year old 125G acrylic tank that I brought back from Japan when I was in the Air Force. So a Japan Surgeon fish was a must :). Took our LFS about a month to get one for us. Went to pick it up and noticed that it was flashing :(. But it looked healthy and was eating like a pig so we brought it home. We QT everything wet, CUC, coral and even liverock before it goes into our DT. After being in QT for 60 days, we added the powder brown and it's been healthy with our other tangs, yellow, purple and Desjardini for over two years. Setting up an 96" 310G and plan to add an Achilles when everyone goes into the new tank :).

I’ll never have another one again . Mean Fish got ich and died. There’s so many other tangs that are that are beautiful. You don’t need to get a powder blue or brown. But with any other tang, you should have an oversize UV sterilizer makes all the difference in the world!

I have to sell my power blue
Because it killed my copperband butterflyfish
Bullied my blue tang so much , it almost stopped eating
Even after introduction of 7 large new fish ( including tang , foxface , angels ) in hope to divide aggression - it wouldn't stop to be tank boss and harassing
So It was a must go fish . Such a shame for such a bold and beautiful fish ❤❤ u can watch my channel to get a view of the beauty
Lesson I learn: never add acanthus group fishes fish
Mainly power blue, powder brown , sohal tang , etc . They should be introduced last !! Less aggressive fishes should established their territory first
