I have a full-blown haor algae problem in my 75 gallon tank. Much like the video you have of yours. I didnt know it was hair algae because my Red Sea lights make it look red. All along I treated the tank for cyano. My problem is 75 gallons is too small for any of the fish you mentioned. I dont want to treat with chemicals like flux rx, but I might. Everytime I do a water change the algae goes wild growing even though I syphon a lot of it out.😭
Not that you need more tangs but there is non HI Kole tangs but less colorful, I had a HI one around 20 years ago that put in work. Foxfaces are a solid choice but I havnt had luck with them. My Coral beauty is a lawn mower including Coral and so Far worse then my Butterflys and Koran Angel etc. But she has eased up on the SPS some. I currently have a Mimic and Pacific Sailfin in the 180 amoung Angels and Butterflys etc. My mimic barely eats prepared foods, is super fat and is too busy eating Algae, i like the adult colors also, I got mine with no blue remaining and is now becoming an adult. I would recommend a good UV with proper flow rates if the tank has ich, mine had it every 3 weeks until I replaced the bulb. Im going for a Fish Only With Coral approach vs a Reef tank so I try not to spend a fortune on corals incase they become food.
You didn’t miss it! I’ve heard those are great, I just can’t personally speak to them as I’ve never owned one 😅 this list is of fish I’ve personally owned!
@@tylerhuxford3440 gotcha. IME best fish at clearing hair algae. Almost too good in some situations. We got hit by a bad storm and my blenny didn't survive the outage. I just had my wavemaker running for oxygen. It died about a week ago and in that week I have gotten some pretty bad hair algae. Definitely lives up to the name
I got a salt water tank 2 months ago now I have brown stains on my reefs and glass , is there a lawnmower fish I can get to keep this from happening
For the glass, snails are usually best! But the fish on this list are good at glass grazing too! I just think snails are best

If it helps, I used flux rx in a 40 gallon tank, and it did WONDERS. And that was in a full blown reef, nothing died

Im going to checkout the non HI Kole tangs! Wasn’t aware those existed. Are those the ones with the white tails?
@@tylerhuxford3440 I think Shri Lanka ? Colors arnt as good but should still put in work
@@tylerhuxford3440 i guess any tang in the bristle tooth fam should be decent , I ordered a Twin Spot with the Mimic but it was DOA
Whats youre aqaurium size ?
I’ve got two! A 119 and a 40
My yellow tang loves nori and short brown and green algae but hair algae ain’t on his mind

Did I miss it or was lawnmower blenny not on the list? Lol

@@keithwicks9103 I’ll keep this mind for the future!
Turn off lights?
Works until you have corals which need the light 😕

Snails are definitely best for glass! But every fish on here will graze glass as well; but in my experience, fish prefer to graze rocks
