- September 27, 2021, marks the 35th anniversary of the tragic accident where there world lost Cliff Burton. We’re left with his legacy, inspiration and beautiful music.
For this I decided focus on getting as much detail possible into this performance. Even though I’ve recorded this song before, I felt I hadn’t done it justice yet (no pun intended).
Thanks to Alfredo Le’Roux from Mexitallica Chapter for inviting me to pull this off.

If I am correct, this is the song that Kirk and James heard when they decided to ask Cliff to join Metallica. If I remember correctly, James and Kirk heard Cliff play it at a bar and Kirk said to James something along the lines of "We need that guy!". That was a great cover!
He must have been soloing some other awesome licks. I believe Anesthesia was mostly improvised in the studio. One of those takes is what ended up being what we hear on the record. 👊🏻

Everytime i hesr the bass solo anesthesia pulling teeth i get steamy it chokes me up cuz i seen cliff play this right in front of me when i was 15 it was my 1st concert my uncle took me to....cliff died not long after I could feel sweat flying off cliff I can remember it like kt was this morning...it left a huge impact on me I like nonody else knew he would leave this world in sept 1986 i am so thankful for getting to see a true legend right before me it was incredible I still am partly deaf as they played so fucking loud I still have whiplash also lol thanks for the memories cliff may you rest in metal heaven!!! Peaceful. We miss you!!!

For many years, I thought this spectacular bass solo was a guitar solo. He truly was a master considering how young he was. Kudos to the player and thanks for the upload!

@@kellogc Cliff was my idol. I was in 8th grade when he passed. I was learning to play bass and could play all these songs, nowhere near as badass ass you though. I haven't played since about 1988. Just picked up a bass recently because your videos and I can't even play anymore...lol... Forgot how hard it was...
