I can so relate to this scene. Back in 2001, I lost mom and dad (about a month a part for different reasons) I was only 22 at the time and didn’t really know much about death and grief. We live in TX, but mom’s family is from South Carolina. She always said that she wanted to be buried there if anything happened to her. The day after the funeral, I drove back to TX. Looking into the darkness of the night, I wondered, “What am I driving back to?” What would life be like without my parents? I had all these memories and thoughts rolling through my mind and had no answers. I’ll never forget this road sign, as I hit the highway. It said: “Rough Road Ahead” Nearly 22 years later, that sign was so correct. 💔🌹
Such a bittersweet reflection❤ Ill be 40 next year. My parent's are still well, but theres always the inevitability of death, even my own. Im sorry you lost your parents at such a young age, but hopefully that made you appreciate life more.
Man, 4:05 just look at the difference in their expressions. Kevin's still a kid, he's had a brush with death but can find a way to fall back into innocence. Jack, on the other hand, knows it's coming sooner or later, and knows he's lying in this moment. Masterful.
Life is a treasure for anyone during any point in time. For you it was the '70s, for others it was the '50s, '60s, '80s and so on... and for some, even a full lifetime.
John 11:25-26 NASB [25] Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, [26] and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?" Sent with respect and love.👍🏻
In retrospect Jack died 2 years after the last episode, Kevin was 18-19, so about 21 years old when his father passed. My father passed away when I was only 22 and when your 12 you think your parents will live until your about 50 at-least and it's sad because you think you have time to have those deep meaningful conversations later in life when your too busy with girls and partying in your teens to care for that stuff until it's too late.
When my great aunt died and cousin gave the eulogy, I realized I would be doing the same thing some day. That day came 3 months later. Then, it was very hard to do the same for my grandpa, my mom and my nana. Being an only child makes you realize that The Buck stops with you. It seems these many clips make me cry every time, but they are so universal.
I'm an only child as well. When I lost my dad as an adult (i was 39) I felt a very sudden jarring sense of responsibility. My dad and I didn't get along all that well when I was young, but he took care of things. Once it was just me, I felt the awesome weight of truly being the safety net for my immediate family. It also dawns on you that if all goes well you're next. Your kids are going to feel this same sorrow when it's your turn.
I love the part of the episode where grandpa kicked them out of the car when they were on the road and made the walk the rest of the way to the cemetery.

I’m fairly my mother never foresaw how much I would fall apart after her passing. It took me five years to find my feet again.

One of my favorite shows growing up.
Mine to.

Yeah. He would die a few years later. As it is stated in the final episode that he passed away 2 years after the events in said episode.
I loved this show, I had an Aunt Rose. True, life was a treasure back then in the 1970s compared to today. Yes, thanks for posting this.

@@BeverlyM True, I just meant violence and loss of faith present today seemed absent which makes life less enjoyable
@@sallymiller1359 Agreed!
This scene is even sadder after you remember what happens to his dad in the epilogue of the series.
Sucks that we can't live forever on this beautiful 🌎.

You said it. I wish i had known...b4 it was too late.
Lost my dad at 22 also, could not have put it more clearly.
Kevin was my crush whn i was young...❤❤he was so cute

Awwww RIP David Huddleston. I knew him first as Santa Claus, then the Big Lebowski.
And one of the many Johnsons in _Blazing Saddles._ My thoughts came here immediately when I heard he had passed away
Dad don't ever die love it.
I love the part of the episode where grandpa kicked them out of the car when they were on the road and made the walk the rest of the way to the cemetery.
Mr. Lebowski himself
That was good enough for Kevin until the final episode, where he mentioned Wayne took over the furniture business after his dad passed.
The grandfather reminds me of Philip Seymour Hoffman.
Well, Philip was his assistant Brandt in _The Big Lebowski_
Mom kept the peace
"Don't ever die, ok?"
Dan: Ehh, I'm not gonna die, Narrator as adult Kevin: Right now that was good enough for me.
@@bonnieriffle8371 I lost my Dad since my original comment and this scene hits differently
I'm so sorry for your loss. 😥😥😥

How can it be Aunt Rose if his granddads wife has passed away? Surely it would be Grandma?
Second wife.
They never said it was his wife. Aunt Rose was probably his granddad’s sister.
@@joshmg25 Grandad's sister would be great Aunt
@@CityStarrzz Let me make is even simpler, Your Granddad's WIFE is YOUR Grandma.
@@nigelbenn4642 same deal. I always called my parents’ aunts/uncles Aunt or Uncle (whatever their first name was).
