This song is one of my favorites from Patti. She was the first concert I saw at at age 19, and I’ve seen her serval times in the past 30 years. Try her song “Stir It Up” from the movie Beverly Hills Cop.

A very super hype reaction 🦸🏾‍♀! Yes, she worked them shoulders out 😁! I see 👁👁 that you have reacted to Patti LaBelle before: Lady Marmalade, On My Own and Somebody Loves You Baby. New Attitude was released as the second single from the 1984 film: Beverly Hills Cop, movie soundtrack. It was written by Jon Gilutin, Bunny Hull and Sharon Robinson. It was produced by Peter Burnetta, Rick Chudacoff and Howie Rice. The Sweethearts Of Sigma aka The Sweeties (Carla Benson, Evette Benton, Barbara Ingram) provided the backing vocals. They also recorded and toured with Patti LaBelle in the 1980s. The song reached #1 on the Dance Club chart, #3 on the R&B chart and #17 on the Hot 100.
The music video was directed by Greg Gold and David Hogan and filmed at a fashion store in LA. It was Patti LaBelle's first ever music video. Patti LaBelle enters somewhat modestly dressed and as she sings the song, she is confronted by a critical sales clerk who examines her. She enters a changing room, and exits wearing a high-fashion outfit. She continues to appear in various outfits, including a white jumpsuit and headband in an East Asian font print while other women dance and sing backing vocals. She exits the store at the end of the song, having achieved her "new attitude" thanks to the fashion makeover.
The song was a huge career boost for Patti LaBelle, whose trio Labelle, famous for their hit "Lady Marmalade", broke up in 1977. Recording as a solo artist, Patti LaBelle had released six solo albums but had yet to place a song in the Pop Top-40. The MTV era was passing her by, as she was having trouble gaining new fans. This song and music video garnered her a new fan base by making the MTV rotation thanks to the success and popularity of the film: Beverly Hills Cop. A second song she recorded for the film: "Stir It Up" reached #5 on the R&B chart, #18 on the Dance chart and #41 on the Hot 100. A music video was produced for that song as well.

    Miscellaneous Info 🗃:
Around 1964 Patti LaBelle was engaged to Otis Williams, founding member of The Temptations. The engagement lasted a year before Patti LaBelle broke it off after fearing that Otis Williams would force her to move to Detroit and retire from performing on the road.
Members of Patti LaBelle's immediate family have passed away at young ages. Her mother Bertha passed away in October 1978 from diabetes at the age of 62. Her father, Henry Holte Jr, passed away of complications from emphysema and Alzheimer's disease in October 1989 at the age of 70. All three of LaBelle's sisters passed away young. Eldest sister Vivian Hogan Rogers passed away of lung cancer in October 1975 at the age of 43. Seven years later, in October 1982, her elder sister Barbara Holte Purifoy passed away from complications of colon cancer at the age of 40.
In July 1989, three months before her father's passing, Patti LaBelle lost her youngest sister, Jacqueline "Jackie" Holte-Padgett, to brain cancer at the age of 43. A day after the singer buried Jacqueline Padgett, an emotionally-wrecked Patti LaBelle shot the music video to her song: "If You Asked Me To", where she was seen crying in various shots; the video was shot on what would've been Jacqueline Padgett's 44th birthday. The singer dedicated her 1991 album: Burnin', and her famous rendition of the song: "Wind Beneath My Wings", during her concert tour in 1991-92 to Jacqueline "Jackie" Holte-Padgett.
Patti LaBelle said because of her sisters and parents passing away "before their time", she wrote in her autobiography that she feared she wouldn't make it to 50. Once she reached that age, however, the singer said she felt her life "had just begun". A year later, Patti LaBelle was diagnosed as having diabetes and later became a spokesperson for several organizations dedicated in fighting the disease. Patti LaBelle also wrote in her autobiography that she was sexually assaulted by Jackie Wilson while at the Brevoort Theatre at Brooklyn in the 1960s.
