    Marc fronted his own multiple award winning Christian band (called "downhere") for over 10 years. Then he auditioned for Roger Taylor and won the lead with "Queen Extravaganza," Queen's "official" tribute band, in late 2011. He sang with them until the end of 2016. When they were not going to tour in 2017, he started his own cover band, "Ultimate Queen Celebration." He's performed with them since, along with "Black Jacket Symphony" (they do EXACT recreations of famous albums, in live concerts), "Symphonic Queen" (in Mexico, with a full symphony orchestra), and as part of "One Vision Of Queen" (basically a re-named UQC), touring eastern Europe. He has several albums of his own music out as well.
    Marc also did vocals for the "Bohemian Rhapsody" movie. The 30+ year old analog magnetic tape master recordings would not have been up to modern "Dolby Atmos" digital quality standards, so they used a technique called "vocal layering," where they blended Marc's voice with Freddie's. If they didn't have a good copy of Freddie singing something they wanted in the movie, it was purely Marc singing it. for some reason, they gave Marc almost ZERO credit in the movie and after. But, if it wasn't for Marc, that movie could never have been made. You can see the tracks in this photo from the Live Aid scene mixing board, where Freddie's track is "LV-STEM LVAID DRY FREDDIE_01" and Marc's track is "LV-STEM LVAID_01," directly beneath it.
    i.imgur.com/Oqxw81z.jpg
    In December 2019, Marc was the special guest star for the Michael W. Smith and Amy Grant Christmas tour. He brought the house down every night. The three of them released their cover of "Silver Bells" which went to number one on the Christian Music chart. For Christmas 2020, Marc teamed with Amy Grant to release their cover of "The Christmas Waltz," a Frank Sinatra song.

    My mom who was classically trained in Opera and Musicals from the 50's LOVED Freddy...more than even I could know, I think. Before she died in 2012, I got a chance to play some Marc for her and she said he was the closest she'd ever heard to Freddy and she was a harsh critic. I am so glad she got to hear it. Writing this before I get to the actual reaction because you seem pretty tough on Queen covers yes that's his natural voice and his vocals in other covers and solo work are just as phenomenal as his queen covers. Just throwing it out there because some ppl not everyone has the misconception Marc tries to be Freddie when he is a truly humble talented and blessed individuals singing and paying tribute to his favorite songs and artists. His talent is often but as said not always discredited which is unfair because he truly is one of the most down to earth and talented individuals. That being said I can tell your a big Queen fan and Marc is that guy definitely react to some more Queen covers but also check out some of his other covers as well so you can truly see how talented power and dynamic his vocals can be.

    This gentleman has a great voice but no one knows who the voice belongs to. Only heard him a few times and all have been covers. This cover for me just doesn’t do it. What did he add to the song. The only cover that cleared or set a bar was Hendrix doing All along the watch tower.
    Great potential but not original enough.

    • @papabearM3
      @papabearM3 2 года назад +10

      You can’t be serious, mate! What has he added? He unplugged it. It’s just him and the piano. He sings the song in its entirety and has rearranged and incorporated various harmonies and multiple instrumental partitures to fit a single voice and piano. He does it formidably, with great energy and phenomenal prowess and skill. Sorry to disappoint you, but Freddie could never do this. He has not sung BoRhap in its entirety even once in his career.
      More so, Marc has 15 albums of original music. Google much? Go do some research before you express your dissatisfaction with someone singing covers.
      Furthermore, Freddie wrote some brilliant music and made some fantastic musical choices in his career. Don’t you think it’s nice to hear his musicality live on? Don’t you think Freddie deserves being represented by another, equally brilliant musician rather than bloody reality TV contestants who don’t play an instrument and keep singing the song “their own way” unable to pay justice to the original creation?

      Has he ever done the song in front of 100,000 fans in a soccer stadium and having them focused on him on stage as he romps around stage keeping them loocked on him. @@papabearM3 I may be a simple person who doesn't know the ins and outs on the technical side of the music but to me he didn't come close to reaching the original. Maybe that's because I'm used to the finished product. He has a great voice but to me it didn't excite me or move me.
      Check out Diana Krall A Case OF you A cover that does not mess with the original but adds her personality and emotion to an Iconic song..

      Funny you should ask. Marc has sung in front of 90K. He tours the world (when COVID permits) and packs large arenas. Not only that, he holds the audience in the palm of his hand. Does that count for anything? I think it does.
      I never said you were a simple person. But you judged Marc on one song wrongly assuming you had seen the very potential of his talent. Yet, you didn’t bother to even look him up? C’mon!
      You don’t have to believe me, but go and find this infamous “original” you are so infatuated with. Please, link me to that original where Freddie sings BoRhap in its entirety solo and to self-accompaniment.
      Re: Diana Kroll and originality. Well,.. imagine she put her own spin on Chopin or Rachmaninoff just to be original. What would be the point of that? Classics are perfect as they are and should be shared with future generations. “Rewriting classics” is a great party trick. A true respectful tribute though is a celebration of musicality left to us by one human and IMO must convey the original essence of the composition.
      Lastly, WHY do you think that Marc isn’t genuine singing BoRhap? This is his own honest-to-god voice, his instrumental skills, his energy. So what if it is someone else’s song? Marc invests just as much into his covers as he does into his originals of which he has 100+.
      There are myriads of singers who have performed BoRhap without changing it at all: no one is complaining. Yet, because Marc sound like Freddie he is compared to him all the time. And if you actually compare the two on their performance, Marc is the stronger singer and instrumentalist. Both are spectacular though, each in his own right.
      Cheers
      Nice talking to you, mate!

  • @rickfairman5640

    The man has a great voice but he just repeats what Freddy has already done without the charisma character that made Freddy Mercury who he was. My question is who is this guy but a lesser version of who he covers. Until he can duplicate Hendrix taking All Along the Watch tower he is a man with a great voice to repeat the original.

    • @marcfan1822
      @marcfan1822 2 года назад +9

      It pays to do a little research before making inane statements. Marc has been a professional musician for decades and had a multiple award nominated , and winnning , band,, with many albums on which he wrote or co wrote almost all the tracks, before being selected by Queen to front their own tribute band in 2011. He also has an amazing original solo album and has done many spectacular non queen covers, a suite of Christmas music, toured and collaborated with other famous artists and is respected by his peers. And just to round it out , he plays Piano, acoustic/electric guitar, bass, organ, piano accordion, ukulele, guitarlele, some drums, trumpet, glockenspiel , tambourine, a great kazoo to name the ones I can remember seeing him play, and whistles better than Roger Whittaker.
      Your cynicism has the same ring as many other people who prefer either another Queen cover artist or refuse to accept that someone else could be vocally comparable to F Mercury. And don't mistake flamboyance for charisma. Marc doesn't sell out concerts around the world because he has no charisma. He does not want to BE Freddie Mercury. His choice is to pay tribute to the music in the way that nostalgic Queen fans and new fans from the film desperately want to relive Queen. They would rather hear the echoes of Freddie than settle for glitter and moustaches and yellow jackets and pantomime of a legendary performer with little or no comparison to his true musical legacy.
