And sorry for not having to actually crush anything this week! We want to get the new machine running as fast as possible so we are using most of our time making tools for it and building the bunker. We are hoping to get the walls up and press running next week!

The inside of the bunker will likely need thin metal liner to prevent the concrete from crumbling after repeated hits. Similar damage to shooting a gun at concrete wall.
What I respect about you guys is the level of accountability and responsibility you have with safety. Obviously you enjoy the chaos, but you do everything as safely as possible and that’s a wonderful example to set.
Thanks for noticing this! Usually people only notice when I miss some safety aspect.
I have always said that if you do some stupid stunt once you are probably ok. Do the same stuff as an your work for 8 years and you are going to die :D So we must take care of safety aspects to be able to do this is at all.
@@HydraulicPressChannel Plus the added benefit of the Safety Bunker is that it keeps shrapnel and confetti from getting spread out all over the shop. So it will be much easier to clean it up. (winks at Hanna. 😉)

When stuff flies and hits the bunker walls, you should use a Sharpie to draw around any damage to the wall from the impact. Then, add the date and what exploded or a number and make a spreadsheet. That way, you can compare the different marks and have a record of the fun!
My only other thought is : maybe don't call the old tool 'Baby Exploder', it might sound a bit strange to outsiders.

That is insane. They'll have to revisit some things, like the flattened toilet paper rolls, I wonder if that will explode, extrude out the side, or just get harder with double the power.... ?
It's going to be cool to see what it can do.

This is some crazy good channel progression. This is going to be a major update of professionalism in your guys videos.
The concrete walls will be super strong but to help prevent damage put a couple layers of wood on them, you can replace the wood easier then the concrete walls again ! Keep up the great videos !
Wood would also deal with too much echo.

I'm so happy you're putting new things out there. This isn't to say that I want you to keep building and building bigger and bigger and burning out. It's just nice to have this nice update and really, a new bigger press is going to be so much fun! Good luck on the upcoming projects, but I'll enjoy watching whatever you do :)
WOW Lauri - you certainly have a great imagination on how to utilize your presses! I'm really surprised at how many ideas you have come up with! Can't wait to see the new press in action! Speaking of naming things, I think you not only need names for your "Press Crush Dummies" but you should also have names for your presses! I'm a big fan of the TV show Gold Rush and they always name their rock washing machines. How about having a contest to name your dummies and another for naming your presses? You could give small gifts of something your crushed to each of the contest winners or a T-shirt 5,000,000 or something. I would certainly enter those contests!

I remember a test using automotive box liner like rino liner, rapter or ez liner. They coated concrete block walls to show how much it added strength. It actually took a lot of force to break it from what i can remember. Maybe someone else would remember that video better than i do.

If you need thicker walls in future you could try stacking them in multiple layers that way you can still handle moving them

Aww, man! That's really gonna suck -- need to crush cans of Febreeze every once in a while. Maybe you can make a giant vacuum with separator that comes through the roof (like the pentagon scene in Heavy Metal). ShitSlinger 5000000.

The pump etc. doesn't need protection, because it will be placed outside of the bunker. Maybe some protection for hydraulic hoses and power cables, but that should be it.

It was some machine fair after the summer. Profi press has a booth there so we might visit it and crush some stuff there. I let you know when I know more

The worm-maker holes could be angled slightly outwards so that the candles don't break on the wider bit at the top of the thing. Nothing to block them.

For real though, 300 tonns is hard to picture in your head. That's just way too much to imagine.
Making the new tools kind of helped me to understand the difference between 300 tons and 150 tons :D Everything has to be so much beefier :D

I used to make prestressed concrete walls for a company called fab-con was the scariest job I ever had stretching the cables tieing the rebar and pouring the walls wasn't bad lifting them and loading them wasn't for me

It would be interesting to have a piece of bulletproof glass under the press as it is coming down to get the bottom view of what happens to the item getting crushed.

I hope you anticipated an easy way to clean things up. Like a drain and a hose or something. That orange though 1mm hole could be quite a sticky mess. ^^
You should compare the old press to the mew one! That would show us just how much better it is.

You can do "ultimate hydraulic press battle", and see if at the same force which press can out crush the other!
Cube or cylinder of Plexiglas/Perspex. Squeeze. Internal strain gradients change their refractive index. If you illuminate from the rear through a sheet of linear polarizer and look through a sheet of linear polarizer in front rotated 90 degrees...you get a lightshow as you watch the internals scream. But you know that. We have three politicians on order...and we will see how that goes. (I'm here in Southern California. What is with all that white stuff growing everywhere?)
