So if Huey shows up without the news, that’s out? Inversely, if there’s news, but Huey ain’t present, also disqualified? It’s unclear how this shirts requirements are met.
It’s one of his best. His “kids in the hall” “having an average weekend” intro on that trem /verb video was also super tasty. Dorian looks good on him.
I'd like to see just one review where the term "for the price" doesn't enter into it. Because we're so trained to equate price with quality that it often blinds us to what quality really means. For me, the quality of a guitar begins and pretty much ends, with the neck. Because all of the electronics can easily swapped out to whatever I want. Same with the hardware. And the body is _mostly_ there to hold it all together and anchor the strings. So things like colour, binding and finish, all of which change over time, don't equate to much in the end. But the neck is where a guitars playability is ultimately decided for good, or bad.
I agree, Eddie V Halen should have taught all guitarists a lesson that the body and asthetics don't mean anything as long as it's all aligned properly. He took a factory second body, found a totally different neck put it together and eruption.
I totally agree. Best playing/feeling guitar I've ever held was an off the shelf floor model sterling jp100d. I wasn't crazy about the sound of the guitar at all, too smooth and tame for my silly taste, but man that combination of the neck, the bridge, the body shape, etc. It was like I was wearing gloves that fit me perfectly.
What a coincidence, just received my E335 model from them today and it is hard to put down! Also have their HSS strat, both are amazing instruments for the price and value for money galore! Grateful we are witnessing a change and evolution in the affordable guitar manufacturers, good times to be alive as a guitar player.
I really appreciate the way you go into detail on your reviews. Takes guts to break format. Glad it's working for you. Keep doing your thing, it's great.
I love a lot of what they're doing on these EART guitars. When I was a kid buying my first guitar, I got what amounted to a $189 cheese grater (feel & sound) with an output jack. This should be a solid, low cost guitar for a lot of players
I read somewhere that they do the frets with equipment they use for making jewelry where they can cut them to size and do all the shaping and polishing then just seat them in the board.
It's great that they are upping the expectations about frets and fretwork, I hope it catches on. On the other hand, I tend to get bored with my affordables (and not so affordables) and also want decent trade-in or resale value, and so I doubt the big brands are feeling any pressure.
I have the headless GW2 Eart, and the only problem I had with it was the bridge pickup feeding back with high gain. I later solved the issue with an eq pedal.
ive got a gw2 had it for 6 months now, made a ton of songs with it, plays and feels amazing might replace the pickups soon, but the stock ones sound pretty damn great
Nice intro, jam man… Looks like a great guitar, but just like your jam session. It’s what you do with it that makes it shine no matter how expensive it is… Keep on rockin.
Well Ryan, I read lots of comments here, some few seem to have a bit of ego behind them as trying to impress. Not me, I can't. In my late 60s now and have started to play. Back some 50 or so years ago I played drums in a garage band and a few gigs here and there with special frends ( no picture Id's then, I'd borrow my brother's grew my hair long with an earing (no 16 year old would look like me in the early 70s....ha) These friends have a special place in my memory. Life.... had to put things away, but now rediscovering my first love with 6 strings. Long story short, they all are some 3000 miles away in 60s and 70s, some gone now, but you remind me of them with your pure attitude and love of playing. I know they would pass on information and wisdom to me like you, without ego, knowing I appreciate real help. So please keep going, don't worry about those still not fully mature, knowing your wisdom is passed on with grace and sincerely appreciated. Thanks for all the wisdom. Keep playing, and giving back. Thanks, God speed, always with a tune in your heart and vision, straight ahead.
I can't say for certain if Eart does have a higher price:quality ratio than more well known brands but it does seem to be on the right path which makes it very interesting. However a better question would be: does it offer better value for money than Hartley Benton? Their SC DLX Gotoh range offers very similar specs to the Eart with the addition of a Graphtec nut, Gotoh (as the name implies) hardware and coil splitting for the pickups for a price that's about €/$/£100 less. Will we see a shoot out between the two at some point in the future?
Anyone here who spends more than £150 at Thomann gets free delivery to anywhere in the UK. Americans have to pay $100 for delivery. That's hilarious :D As for the person who thinks coil splitting is some sort of miracle all I can say is that you should take your medication before you post again.
@@NexusIcon Actually it's $75 for shipping the last I checked which was a couple weeks ago. I mean, fuck Thomann if they want to not have warehouses in the US! They're only hurting themselves. I like German products (although Harley Bentons are made in China), but as one German said there are a lot of stupid things that go on in German businesses. There are good cheap guitars in the US. I just bought a Monoprice Indio strat on Amazon for $88 shipped and it's a great guitar! There are Eart guitars, and Firefly guitars, and Rondo guitars , and Mitchell guitars that are good low cost guitars that compare to Harley Bentons (what a stupid name!).
Firefly don't sell internationally so they can fuck off & Rondo charge $230 shipping to the UK so fuck them thrice. These companies are obviously shit as they don't have warehouses in Europe.
I've been strongly considering one of their guitars with 3 single coil pickups because the only "strat" I have! This just gives me more to think about. For a strat type guitar, I only really have an S101 and it's super comfortable of a guitar since I've been playing it so long (used to hate it but I'm way used to it), but I could definitely use an upgrade. That thing was 80$ when I got it in 2007.
Pedalboard, please. You always shine with a loop. Dig the blue screen, fishies. That's a surprisingly sweet little guitar. 100K! This is a big time for the Hum Head community.
I heard a couple of other channels saying that the reason their firefly guitars are not feeding back or being microphonic is they're playing them through digital amps instead of tube amps!! Love you brother and have a blessed night!!!
Ryan, check out the newer Firefly FFLX or FFLV guitars if you want to play something even less expensive with this type of fret end treatment. I wouldn't be surprised if they're made in the same factory. The Firefly guitars with this fret treatment are only around $250.
I almost bought an eart guitar a dozen times. The tele looking one. Just for the wood and ss frets. I ordered a warmoth strat neck w/ ss jumbos about 25 tears ago, played it all the time like it was my only guitar, and no embellishment, the frets on that strat are still like new.
I bought some Eart " pre-stainless steel fret" guitars(L.P, Jem, SLbody), that were shocking of better quality than expected. I was going to use them as mod platforms but so far they have played nicely stock. Thanks for your videos. \m/
At the time of this post, that model is discontinued and the EGLP-620 that replaced this model costs about 600 bucks, but is still a pretty solid choice for that price tag with stainless steel frets and locking tuners. "Budget" brand models nowadays come with such specs at reasonable prices that should make the Brand Name™ companies start to offer more than just their logo on the headstock to justify the money that they ask for their products.
Pretty good 👍☺️ Update: I got one 2nd hand but new for $350 here in Canada where it's $560 on amazon. Only needed fret level. Plays and sounds killer. EART IS A BRAND NAME.
Looks awesome! I like the satin gun metal black one too. They also seem to be made well and that's always a plus lol. As you described the neck profile it reminds of Jackson neck specs.
I have an eart SSS Strat that I bought over two years ago for reallllly cheap. It's one of my favourite guitars and that's saying a lot because I HATE single coil bridge pickups, even still I have to say if you don't have one...they're better than anything up to $500 but the necks are sensitive. At least on mine...but that's to be expected. Thin necks go all crazy in winter usually. All in Ive never regretted buying an Eart
I have an EART 335 copy with stainless steel frets. It was £329 just under a year ago, which I could afford, so I thought I'd give it a go and if it wasn't any good I could at least get some of my money back by selling it and I wouldn't lose a great deal. However, it's a dream. My only problem is I am used to playing a single cutaway Gretsch so having the double cutaway plays tricks with my mind about where on the fingerboard the body joins - not something I would ever have thought about until playing both! That's me though, not the guitar. I think they have gone up to between £360 and £400 now but I've played more expensive 335 copies that I wasn't as happy with and I do like the stainless steel frets.

With the red T , I say they should give it a black outline stripe around it. That would make it pop.
The inlays crack me up because they look like Wi-Fi or I play a lot of turn based games and they look like a “cone of effect” for weapons/spells/character vision.
The headstock resembles a Gretsch Junior Club Jet. I have one and find it to be a practical design and attractive, so I assume the EART will be the same.
Sounds great! The feel of the neck (I am suspecting) must be awfully nice. The "looks" are fine, but a little plain...not a big deal. If I liked single cut guitars, I'd definitely be considering one if I was "in the market" to purchase one. Nice demo Ryan! Well done.
I have to reiterate here. This is some of the best "intro jam" stuff out there. The only one better is probably Chris Buck. But very tasty playing. Good musician ship is about picking the right notes not choosing all of them, at once. Ryan, do you have an album?
woah now, lets not get carried away, Chris Buck is a much better player than me lol. I have/had a surf band called dinosaur ghost if you want to look that up.
I just ordered an EART TL-380. It was $399.99. I am hoping for a solid neck. I can change out everything else if I want but the roasted maple neck and stainless steel frets had me sold on the EART.
Thankyou! some people got bummed because its less guitars behind me, but its so much less cluttered and makes me feel more at ease. Also I think it looks better.
Take a file and round the finger board edges over or a 300 grit sand paper would work it would be really nice then. I like shaved necks too. NIce round frets. A guy could buy some stainless frets and round the edges before install would be sweet.
That is a good question. The revstar is way better. The pleasure factor is much higher with the revstar and the revstar is an all around tighter build.
That seems like a great LP for sure and probably better than anything Epiphone makes in that price range. But Squier's attention to detail is pretty amazing, too, so I'd be less likely to consider an EART Strat or Tele.
We need a “Off brand shoot-out” Eart vs Donner vs Firefly vs Harley Benton vs Grote vs Glarry (LOL).. maybe throw in a Squire and Epiphone for good measure. They need to change their logo on the headstock lol
So… Broke out a bit of ancient Black Sabbath there near the end didn’t ya…. We wee all kids at some point.. RE: the guitar.. sounds and looks great.. I had ordered an Epiphone 59 Les Paul Limited Edition (co-op with Gibson Custom shop) yesterday evening… cancelled that this morning…
You ought'a make a shirt that only patron/members or whatever can purchase: 60 CYCLE CHUM. With a bucket of fish parts instead of the pick. Might just be a brain-fart, but I think it'd be a winner.
EART! Seems like a pretty versatile word. Subtract the "T," and you have "EAR." Subtract the "E," and you have "ART." "EAR ART" Add an "H" to the front end, and you have "HEART." Add an "H" to the back end, and you have "EARTH." "HEART of the EARTH" Add an "H" to both ends, and you have "HEARTH." "EAR ART from the HEART of the EARTH around the HEARTH."
Hey Ryan, you acted less than excited about the earlier EART S-type you had, even though here you say you liked it. It got beat by a Xavier, which seem to be ok at best. Is this one better or just better in this style? How about trying the T-style and reporting out.
I was a lot more apprehensive about the first eart because i had seen it overhyped. But It was a great guitar, and it lost afford a strat on a technicality just because it was more modern than traditional. I think Eart is making great guitars for the price point but folks who say they hold up against high dollar value guitars are being silly.
@@60CycleHumcast The Yamaha Pacifica lost to the Xavier too... and it is.a great guitar for the price. I think the best takeaway from this video is that if you are not a snob, collector or touring professional... there is no need to spend over 500 bucks for a Guitar.
The EART logo is better than most budget guitar logos. Nevertheless I used some mahogany wood stain feathered in on the head stock of my EART "335" and viola! Gone. Hyperbole warning: I like it better than my Gibson 335 :)
Hey there. I also have the 335 version and I love everything about it except for one thing....I hate the logo. I know it seems like a silly thing but it just bothers me. What did you use for stain and what was the process. I'm interested in doing the same cover up job
@@ChrisThomas-yr5hb Hey Chris I just picked up some Minnwax satin wood stain in Bombay Mahogany and it blended beautifully. Be careful how you apply it though I got antsy and shlubbed it on ther but after some sanding a re-do it looks fantastic. Didn't obscure the logo in it's entirity but one would have to look really closely to make it out. Added a gold colored eagle guitar head stock decal and looks awesome. Already have another decal for the Eart EGLP-620 I just ordered :) These "335"s are some serious shit guitars. I really cannot put mine down. Good luck!
For under $1000. You can get a strat, a Tele, and that LP. WELL UNDER $1000. I won't be happy until I have all 3. Imo the greatest guitar buys ever offered. EART 😁

That is a good question. The revstar is way better. The pleasure factor is much higher with the revstar and the revstar is an all around tighter build.
3:14 There’s a joke in here somewhere about “playing by EAR”. I’m just not going to do the work. 😂
I own one Eart guitar..I named my Eart... Bert :)
That seems like a great LP for sure and probably better than anything Epiphone makes in that price range. But Squier's attention to detail is pretty amazing, too, so I'd be less likely to consider an EART Strat or Tele.
Eart has my attemtion!
We need a “Off brand shoot-out” Eart vs Donner vs Firefly vs Harley Benton vs Grote vs Glarry (LOL).. maybe throw in a Squire and Epiphone for good measure.
They need to change their logo on the headstock lol
They sent you the one that has been triple checked and made sure everything is on point.
like the one they sent me?
Change of heart, off their second record. That was a great huey-news song.
Should try out the hartwood charger or speedway guitars
So… Broke out a bit of ancient Black Sabbath there near the end didn’t ya…. We wee all kids at some point.. RE: the guitar.. sounds and looks great.. I had ordered an Epiphone 59 Les Paul Limited Edition (co-op with Gibson Custom shop) yesterday evening… cancelled that this morning…
You ought'a make a shirt that only patron/members or whatever can purchase: 60 CYCLE CHUM. With a bucket of fish parts instead of the pick. Might just be a brain-fart, but I think it'd be a winner.
sounds.... fishy ;-)
That a good looking ear guitar!
EART!
Seems like a pretty versatile word.
Subtract the "T," and you have "EAR."
Subtract the "E," and you have "ART."
"EAR ART"
Add an "H" to the front end, and you have "HEART."
Add an "H" to the back end, and you have "EARTH."
"HEART of the EARTH"
Add an "H" to both ends, and you have "HEARTH."
"EAR ART from the HEART of the EARTH around the HEARTH."
@@60CycleHumcast thanks , Ryan. Still considering their t style, just have to scrape together 370 bucks.
@@60CycleHumcast The Yamaha Pacifica lost to the Xavier too... and it is.a great guitar for the price. I think the best takeaway from this video is that if you are not a snob, collector or touring professional... there is no need to spend over 500 bucks for a Guitar.
That was tasty stuff in the intro.
Good luck!
Head Block ? I like it. it's like what Ovation did !
For under $1000. You can get a strat, a Tele, and that LP. WELL UNDER $1000. I won't be happy until I have all 3. Imo the greatest guitar buys ever offered. EART 😁
No doubt in my mind that this guitar is better than my Gibson Les Paul tribute.
Cheers.
Ryan do you have a favorite amp that you own?
The princetons are my go to amps, other amps are great but i just keep going back to them.
@@60CycleHumcast nice man, I haven't tried one yet. Also congrats on 100k 👍
What is that lick at 27:25? Can't quite put a finger on it. Cool guitar, one a beginner wouldn't throw off a bridge. 😸
Kinda sounds like the Godzilla chord progression.
Have you ever done a video about why you became a RUclipsr or what you did before the days of U2be? Would love to hear the story. New subscriber here.
nice front jam man
