  • A recent TikTok prank shows women sending their partners into the store to ask for feminine hygiene products that don’t actually exist. So we’ve got to know: Would you send your man on an embarrassing errand? Plus, do parents have preferential treatment when it comes to their sons over their daughters?

Can I say something to my online community without being criticized? I'm 34 years old and seeing that my father gave my brother preferential treatment has been one of the most painful experiences of my entire life. I watched as my brother got better Christmas presents (because in my family everything was looked at like it had to be earned, from Christmas parents to a parent's love). Because my brother had physical jobs (working in a factory, truck driving), his job was thought of more as demanding and valuable whereas I worked on a computer all day. There was a lot of damaging things my father said to me like that I'm stupid, and lazy, even though I have a college degree and can work up to 12 hours in a career in media. Many times I have cried in my room because I thought my father hates me. Even if you can't relate to your child's interests, please, please make them feel valuable and loved. It will stay with them forever..

Hey Paulina, Im so sorry that you have to feel this way about someone who is suppose to love , care, protect your feelings and support what you are doing in life.
I really suggest you to say how you feel, in a moment when you and him both are calm and in a non hostile atmosfeer with eachother.
Even if he does not respond the way you would love for him to do, say it anyway. Write it down if you have to and then tell him.
After that, do all the things that make you feel happy and find a therapist to talk to. It’s very important to deal with these type of emotional trauma and feelings early, than to just step over them and move on. Healing is very essential in your journey of life.
It’s never your fault. And also.. save a little space in your heart for forgiveness and compassion for your father because he probably is reacting out of generational issues that he just continues.
Break them and let it stop with you and work on your healing.
Love and Light to you. I hope you have a beautiful life full of happiness, awakening and enlightment.

Honestly, it’s because society does not care if a boy is raised correctly as long as they make money. My mom treated all 5 children equally & I think I’m her favorite lol I’m the only one named after her. However, we need to stop thinking that you should raise your daughter & love your boys. That’s the reason why a good majority of men walk around entitled bc , they were never disciplined.

I was comment this but you already got the point! I feel that the love is equal though, and it's just that the standards for girls are much higher. My mother would get very upset if I'm not washing my dishes, but my younger brother can leave his dishes lying around the living room and nothing happens. My mom says my older brother will have a wife to wash his dishes for him eventually so he doesn't need to learn as much. We're in our 20s btw. This is why there are so many low value men out there that high value woman are dealing with. If I have a son some day I will uphold him to the same high standards I would if I had a daughter. I want to send out a high value, capable man into the world

@@mareek2007 its the same in the reverse situation. dads are tougher on their sons and their daughters are their little girls forever. Same way mothers are tougher on their daughters I think it comes from a place of experience. teaching their kids based on their experience since they relate more with their respective genders. that's why as kids grow up moms and daughters become almost like bestfriends and so do dads and son. its messed up but it works, like a well balanced home.

    • @mareek2007

@@aisha6410 I totally agree with that but if you're a single parent you have to be more mindful with your approach. Some people take it too far. I see no reason to wake your daughter up at the crack of dawn and allow your son to sleep in till noon.Or have so many household chores and responsibilities for your daughter while your son can do whatever.Bith kids make a mess but you only expect your daughter to clean up.Lol I get preparing your daughter but some situations are just baffling and unnecessary tbh.
Also because Dads are protective, they can be very strict on their daughters and have double standards when it comes to their sons. Look at the whole T.I incident with his daughter vs his Son.His sons have way more freedom growing up compared to his daughters, which is a reality in most household.

I believe I’m a fantastic mother to my daughter. Bonding is easy with us. She’s a lot like me and we have similar interest. My son is the child who requires more discipline and has been hardest to raise. BUT I can understand how moms tend to be less critical of their boys. I’m equally understanding of both, but I am aware that my son is growing up in a world that expects him to be a certain way just because he’s a boy. Because of that I make sure I am his one safe place where he doesn’t have to carry those expectations on his shoulders.

@@mareek2007 100%. Stereotypically women have more child rearing and home keeper expectations. So much burden is placed on them to do all and be all while also being nurturing and “kept.” Men stereotypically have more of the provider/financial expectations, as well as the belief that they should be “strong” and without emotion. I raise my children everyday to live outside of those constraints.

My friends who are girl moms look at how my son treats me, and their like oh my gosh my daughter doesn’t do that she has an attitude with me most of the time. Lol but my son is very sweet. When we get ready for the day, he says you look so pretty mommy and when I say goodnight to him he grabs my face to give me kisses. Baby boys are the sweetest! ❤️

Lol Your kids are young.Where I'm from I noticed that as they get older boys would go off and do their own thing while girls tend to have a closer more involved relationship with their parents especially Mum. I showed more emotion to my mum than my brother and was so clingy to my Mum.Even in adulthood it's the same.
You often butt heads with your daughter when raising her but when she gets older, if you don't horribly mistreat her that is, she literally grows up to be your friend. When I became an adult I noticed this around me and My own mother pointed it out.She confessed that most women in our culture secretly pray and hope for daughters. It's something that isn't said out loud but known amongst them.

But in my culture, the boys are always close to their moms. My family is from Puerto Rico so you treat your mom like the queen of the family. My husband does that so he knows how to treat his future wife too. But I’m not in that majority I guess because when I was young I always said I wanted a boy. And when I found out I was pregnant with my son I knew he was a boy because I dreamed of him. It’d be cool to have 1 boy and 1 girl but I wouldn’t mind having two boys.

@@Zumzizeroo17I get it, I'm from West Africa and a majority Muslim Country where it's believed heaven lies beneath your mothers feet. In my culture both children are raised to cherish the mother and unfortunately, like most cultures, sons may even get preferential treatment from the mums growing up. But from what I noticed, for some reason in adulthood the girls care to be more involved in the lives of parents especially Mum. Sons love their mums but once they get married, they have to be the main provider for their families and tend to put a lot of focus on their wives and as a result, their inlaws as well . This could be a reason why mother and daughter in laws often butt heads.
Daughters tend to include their parents more, for example If a daughter gets married and has a new baby, she's most likely going to call her mum first ,not mother in law, to be in the delivery room or to come help her at home with her new baby.
Because of daughters, most kids grow up closer to their mums side of the family or grandparents on mums side. They develop a closer relationship and friendship with Mum in adulthood as they need life advice as a woman or when learning to run their households.
There's a saying "A son is a son until he gets a wife but a daughter is a daughter for life"
Unfortunately people tend to apprecite the value of girls more so in adulthood than childhod. Some people struggle to have kids so any child is a blessing regardless of gender .We should be cautious not to show favouritsm to one gender over the other as both play significant roles in our lives in both their childhood and adulthood . I've seen gender favoritism badly backfire even within my own family. The parents always regret it and warn others.I vowed never to make that mistake.
You seem to have a special bond with your boy,you wanted him and God placed him in your life for a reason as your first child.Just don't overlook your girl if you're blessed with one.Too many mums do this.

It happens it isn’t like we don’t care and just wait til the last minute. My husband in the beginning of our relationship was willing to get me anything.
3 weeks into our relationship I started my period unexpectedly after I quit my birth control (made me sick all the time) and he asked me if and what I needed, he got me a bundle of Tampons, Pads, and liners body wash midol and chocolate etc he didn’t have to but he asked and he went the extra mile and sometimes you just have to ask!

My brother wasn’t treated with the most favoritism, though, my younger sister was. She got away with so much. My parents didn’t know what to do with my brother. I think now I’m the favorite because I cause the least grief.
As for the feminine products, I’d send out my man. No shame. I’d never talk about it with my dad. He’s no good at that stuff and it makes it hard to talk about it.
