Did you agree with the reviews on this one? Also HARRY STYLES?!
Black Widow now on Patreon for early access:www.patreon.com/SebScreen
I still enjoyed it lol
Nope didn't agree with reviews. I enjoyed this movie immensely. It opened the MCU wide open to a cosmic level that we have never seen before and it just makes me wonder what is in store for the future
Most of the critical reviews can be attributed to the paid critics, and they are all, of course, terrible regardless of their plans. I honestly enjoyed this movie. It's so different from most of the Marvel movies that I at first was taken off guard by its jarring beginning, but as time went on, it has certainly become one of my all time favorites very, very quickly.
Introducing the Celestials is a bold move, but quickly goes to show how times have effectively changed for the grander scale of the MCU. Tony started it by fighting a bunch of terrorists in caves pretending to be an organization they weren't, or perhaps a splinter cell after Wenwu left for a better lifestyle. Now? We're introducing Celestials and lesser known comic book heroes that even *_I_* didn't know existed. I'm honestly so damned hype for what comes next.
Please do Jurassic park
There was a deleted scene with Sprite and Dane in the museum that they should have left in.
This movie opens so many doors to the cosmic side of marvel we haven't really seen in the MCU and I love it
I think thats what makes me enjoy it as much as I do. I did a massive deep dive/marvel wiki wormhole of reading about the celestials and the first firmament due to this film, and it absoLUTELY opens up a lot of cool stuff
I agree. Between the Eternals w/ the Celestial scale of things and the Multiverse on the other, the MCU is now in a position to tell some amazing and epic stories of a sort we have never seen on film. I’m excited and I loved this movie
I feel like Guardians 3 is gonna come back to this movie heavy.
@@toniodejimi3905 I agree. The first two guardian films introduced three celestials (eson, knowhere and ego). I think they’ll show another celestial or even an eternal
@@existential_sad_boi That was smart of you to do so you know what to expect or least what concepts to expect. I think if some of the people who were confused by it had did that they would have liked it a lot more. This movie actually cracked my top 5 of Marvel movie's.
This movie definitely doesn't deserve the amount of hate that It got, I was really surprised after I watched it that it got such a low score, and it sucks because it was the first time marvel tried to do something different.
@@IanM92 No serious villains, murky moral perspectives, heavy lore aspects, story heavy movie, unique stylization, character driven story, diverse casting…
@@mr.stuffdoer8483 and lots of infighting. Its like the Avengers upto civil war all crushed into one movie. As Seb indicated earlier, not much time for character development more the introductions. It lacks a lot of depth. Its a lot to cram into a movie, I think this is why people tend to hate it. The Avengers took its time to establish and bring the characters together from all the other movies. this just feels messy. These are major events and the Avengers get absolutely no screen time at all either. You cant shelve ten years of the mcu and then just expect everyone to start again. Can you ?
I cite Doctor Strange, Black Widow, Wandavision, Loki, Falcon the winter soldier, Hawkeye, Spiderman No way home, Guardians 3, Thor Love and Thunder, Captain Marvel 2, these are all expansions of the existing mcu, moving on their storylines. You cant just tack on a bunch of superheroes and expect everyone to say, "well thats that then". I need a bit more than that to say "okay then..."
@DhN RVÆ explain.
I had enough fun in the theater not to regret seeing it, but in a list of Marvel movies it was just, y'know, 'fine' - this of course being my point of view solely! - and, well, wall of text incoming, but I know why it ultimately is a movie I don't expect I'll ever watch again, and will likely forget more than I already have (I saw it when it came out in theaters but realized while writing this that already I've forgotten enough that I had to Wiki the characters to remember how many there were, who each was, and to remind myself what happened to each of them!)
There were, unfortunately, just WAY too many people and WAY too much history for a brand new storyline. It made the common movie mistake of going "well nobody wants an origin story so let's just shove that in around the edges." But Marvel's movie success is built on DOING the work of building that backstory up over years, so this is like getting a single movie in which Tony Stark builds his first Iron Man suit and then boom, 3 hours later we're at his funeral. Who are Black Widow, Thor, Vision, Wanda, Captain America, Antman, Spider-man, etc etc? Well, they each got about 5 minutes of backstory each, so... they're other people with fancy costumes we don't have time for. Hold on, we'll have them look pensively into the distance for 3 seconds while we zoom in, do a 2 minute flashback to a single incident that demonstrates a single flicker of who they are as a person, but then we have to get back to the story. Sorry!
This is an entirely new group of people, and they really should have been given WAY more development time than we got. A handful of them got enough that you could describe their archetype - the young leader that is inexperienced but forced to face conflict and grows to become better (well, presumably - we actually don't even get to see that), the young one that suffers alone because nobody else notices or takes their perspective seriously, the one who betrays them all out of a sense of loyalty, but even then, who WERE these people? We got a bunch of mostly no-dialogue scenes between Cersi and Ikarus where they decided to date like that was character development, but no it wasn't. Because like... who was Cersi other than that archetype? Iron Man loves cheeseburgers, starts out egotistical, cocky and arrogant, and does a lot of damage based on those traits, then does even *more* damage when he swings too far the other way. He doesn't work well with others. He's hyper intelligent and over time his character growth is on the personality/emotional side. He learns to trust, to work (somewhat!) with others, to love, to sacrifice. Sersi... Sersi dated a guy. Offscreen, he leaves her and she finds another guy. Back onscreen, she's now with that guy. Oh, and she lives with Sprite and works in a museum.
We got a bunch of mostly no-dialogue scenes showing the Eternals interacting with civilization like that was character development, but no it wasn't. And like... who was Makkari besides 'the disabled one'? Who was Thena besides 'the fighter girl one'? Who was Gilgamesh beyond 'the Asian one'? Yes I *could* find all this out by reading the comics, but there are two issues with that. Firstly, the world of comic books is confusing, dense, and *expensive*. I was willing to pay $30-ish to be entertained by 3 hours. The time AND money sink that is comic books, hell no. Secondly, any story that relies on outside resources to make itself a good story has already failed. I've heard people say that Firefly has some excellent outside material - for example, more backstory on Shepherd Book. And I may actually seek that out at some point because his backstory *was* very lacking in the show, and I would like to know more. But I still had 14 episodes of content to get to know him. To understand who his character is in the now, and how his character reacts to different situations, and to understand why. So if I do seek out the backstory it's not because I *need* more information on Shepherd to like him - it will be to enhance the character I already know and like.
And - getting back to the subject at hand! - I wanted, BADLY, to learn more about the Eternals. Particularly Phastos, whose family life was barely touched on and only used as a way to push him from non-action to action before disappearing. Gilgamesh and Thena, whose relationship was... what, exactly? There were so many ways that could have gone, and I wanted soooo badly, if not get some more detail of their time together, at LEAST to get some detail on what happens after the--oh wait, nope, nevermind, he's dead now. Ajak, well I dunno who she is except the world weary leader, it could be interesting to see what happens to her character if she's faced with a challenge to what she's lived with as the truth all these y - oh wait, nope, she's dead too. Druig, well, he's... a guy. He seems angry and quick tempered and *seriously* overpowered! That could lead to some interesting storylines regarding him struggling with the balance between free will and safet-oh, no, he took control of a bunch of people and (offscreen) kept them imprisoned for generations, but in the 5 minutes we've seen of him onscreen, now he changed his mind so they're gone now. Okay, FINE! SPRITE! She could have an excellent backstory! She immediately reminded me of Claudia from Interview With The Vampire, and even in her limited screentime, Claudia got some excellent screentime revolving around what it's like to realize that while Peter Pan looks charming on paper and when surrounded by a whole society of other children who never grew up, in the (sort of) real world it's probably one of the most devastating things that could happen to a person. It could be fantastic to explore the bond Sprite must he developed with Sersi over the years they've been together despite Sersi's inability to empathize with Sprite, vs. the appeal of Ikaris despite the anger she must naturally feel toward a guy who just up and disappears one d-oh wait, no, she went with him. That didn't even take 2 seconds of thought.
The thing that sucks most of this is that you can SEE not JUST a ton of excellent single/double character movies peeking out from behind this one, but movies that could have made a big impact representation-wise. We saw potential for movies with various Asian superheroes, a Mexican superhero, a deaf superhero, a mentally ill superhero, a gay superhero... Eternals was fine. It wasn't bad, it was just fine. But I really wish we'd gotten what potentially could have been instead.
@@darrenc2721 Yeah, all the things a regular human won't even notice. You ppl can't appreciate a movie like this, you're like a person that says a steak from a 5 star restaurant isn't great cause of the beef.
the fact that druikkari had more chemistry than sersi and ikaris even with only minutes of screentime is hilarious 💀
Well in the end they don’t get together anyway
Agree to disagree
I don't think so, we just didn't see much of their relationship before it was strained. Gemma Chan and Richard Madden are best friends in real life, they have plenty of chemistry.
Neither of the couples had any chemistry tbh
@@thelocaldiva capping so hard, makkari stole the show with little screen time
like they said earlier in the movie, the real tale of ikaris is "the man who flew too close to the sun". so it was sort of a poetic ending
I thought Ikaris' betrayal made perfect sense. I mean, we're talking about a moral, philosophical question. And his suicide also made perfect sense. He failed the one thing he was created to do. As he said, he existed to serve Arishem and he failed.
Watching reactions to this movie is so incredibly frustrating. How nobody understands this is beyond me, seems most people can only think with their emotions.
@@Jdubayou to be fair, they don't have enough time to analysis it for the majority
Not only that, but he betrayed his only friends. It's impossible for him to go back and pretend nothing happened when he was directly responsible for the death of Ajax, indirectly responsible for the death of Gilgamesh and actively tried to kill the rest of them. And all that was ultimately in vain.
@@lukasimundza7741 time heals everything Mate.
Also He dont have to live with everyone of them
@@shobhitkabra13 I didn't say he HAD to kill himself. I'm just saying it's understandable. He tried to kill the entire planet, so EVERYONE reminds him of his gulit, not just his friends. He also never cared for normal people, so why would he want to live with them?
Ikaris was relying on the emergence, as every time it happens, their memories are wiped. He hated himself for needing to kill Ajak, so he was counting on his memories being erased. But then he couldn’t manage to kill Sersi, meaning he killed Ajak for nothing, and he’d always have to live with having done that. And he couldn’t live with that.
Even to add onto that at that moment he's lost everything. He put their mission over his face in the rest of the eternals and even his love for Sersi. So when they found out his party in Ajax's death, he lost that connection to the rest of the Eternals. Thats why he thanks Sprite for being there. When he can't kill Sersi and protect the emergence. He loses the last thing he had which was his complete devotion to their mission

Eternals is so good. People really need to stop comparing movie to movie and admire the movie for what it is. They did a great job!!! I loved it!
ye ikr!!! it has its flaws like every movie. But it was enjoyable. not as good as other marvel films but i still really enjoyed it. people need to stop tearing movies scene by scene picking out every flaw
Yeah I had heard so much negative but thoroughly enjoyed it when I watched. Not sure what people hated so much
Right!?!? I thought it was good.
@@prathvk6266 that's what everyone is saying , you too compared this with other mcu movies.
I love it! It was so beautifully done! Maybe people expected it to be in the same tune as the other Marvel movies but this was a little different which isn't bad.
When Makkari thinks Druig died and she scream. That is actually a really big deal for the actress that plays her. She is deaf in real life but non verbal by choice so her screaming has extra meaning under that context. as someone said "That is the most vulnerable, uncomfortable, and emotionally raw thing Makkari could have done in that moment."
Karun is represanting the cameraman who is always at every scene lol
Hes faster then every speedster and transcends reality time and space 🤣
I really loved Eternals! Idk why people hated it so much. The beginning is a bit confusing and weird but I was super into it and the comedy hit well
i think it was intentional. The Eternals didn't know what was going on either. He were finding out as they were finding things out.
The beginning almost made me stop watching
"Can you imagine one of the Avengers turning?" In a post Multiverse of Madness world, yes I can and it's glorious.
The answer to "did you agree with the reviews" is no, really wasnt that bad genuinely struggle to see what people have against the movie
Personally, and it's fine if you disagree, just providing a different perspective, I found it incredibly boring. I liked some of the characters like Gilgamesh, Thena, Kinga, and Phastos. But, for the most part, I didn't care about any of the other characters. Which is weird for an MCU movie, because they're usually so character driven. Overall I wanted to like it, because the concept is cool, I just couldn't get invested in it at all.
@@brewdaly1873 Yeah I think that what you've said is why a lot of people are bashing this movie for. The Eternals just screams to the audience "Hey we've been here the whole time and we're important!" sorta vibe and expecting people to actually care about these characters like the original avengers.
@@brewdaly1873 Wanted to give my perspective, as I respect your's as well. I loved the movie, I thought the story was interesting, the cinematography was beautiful, and the cast was all great. I think the fights were different from what we've seen, and not a typical action sequence that one might expect.
I wasn't a fan of the flashbacks, I think it should have started out with the opening battle that we got, and then all of the past scenes should have been together and flow well, spend some time in the past to know the characters, see cool things, etc. and then jump to the present, watch Sirsi, Sprite, and Icarus all find the others, etc. I think it would have held better this way.
Eternals I think is Marvel doing something incredibly different to appeal to a somewhat more select audience, with the idea of not just making entertainment, but a story for people to watch without trying to be easily entertaining, which I liked, but I see your perspective on that. Overall I give it an 8.7/10. Definitely wasn't my favorite, but I don't think it was "bad" as many would say.
I enjoyed the movie but it wasn't great. The scenes they deleted like Makkari expressing her love for the humans to Sprite and about their courage facing Thanos shoukdve been kept because it showed more of the connection the eternals made with them throughout their years living on earth. Also, the scene with The Black Knight and Sersi in the museum should've been kept. In the movie, the dude reference the scene but the movie didn't show us the scene which is a bad example if telling but not showing. That scene really established the relationship Sprite has with Sersi's new boyfriend and it openly showed her feeling towards Ikaris. There wasn't any clue to her feelings apart from the subtle frown during Sersi's wedding and the Peter Oan story
o filme é fantástico, o hate geralmente é pela
homossexualidade envolvida, que foi tipo 1 minuto ou 2 🤦🏾♂️
26:05 And here’s where I (very respectfully) disagree. Ikaris isn’t acting, he doesn’t need to. He’s alone at Ajak’s cottage, he doesn’t need to perform. He’s sobbing because he genuinely feels so much remorse. The Eternals are like his brothers and sisters, he would NEVER want to hurt them under different circumstances. He feels like he has to do this because the Emergence beginning was his purpose. He didn’t find another one when Ajak told them to, he clung onto his ideal and stuck with it to the end. When he realizes that they delayed the Emergence, and his actions got Ajak and Gilgamesh killed (who were arguably like a mother and brother to him) of course he would be filled with guilt. That’s why he commits suicide at the end of the film, because he lost everything he loved and cared about. He couldn’t live with the guilt of hurting his family, so he took another way out.
I think a lot of people see Ikaris as a very one dimensional villain but I have to disagree. In his eyes, all the Eternals betrayed him, disregarding their purpose because they loved the humans. I just wish that people would understand that Ikaris is more than just a villain or an adversary, he was a purposeless being who never got the grounding to find another reason to live. He saw himself as a robot, basically.
Long winded comment aside, thank you for the lovely video. Great thoughts as always :)
Thank you! His literal function is to be a soldier and what do soldiers do, follow commands. Yes everyone is technically a soldier but his two purpose in life was loving Cersie and making sure the emergence went through no matter what. Ajak might of been his leader but his primary function is to serve Arisham. He was the only one to not stray from his mission.
If he was truly “acting” he wouldn’t have exploded the way he did at the cottage after having a hand in Ajak’s death.
His own death was poetic to the stories Sprite created about him. Not only could he not live with the guilt of hurting the people he loves, but he went against his prime directive and disobeyed an entity that he has COMPLETE faith in. He wasn’t attached to Earth but he Loved Cersie and saw how much she truly loved it. It was a choice between love and duty and at the end of the day he chose duty. And that is probably one of his biggest disappointments
@@12babycub He actually choose love. As he helped Sersie
Ikaris flying into the sun is a refrence to the myth of the greek god icarus (which ikaris is based of) who flew to close to the sun causing his wing to melt
I watched it yesterday and I thought it wasn’t that bad. The time jumping through out the movie is a bit weird but once you’ve gotten used to it, it’s actually a good movie
It wasn’t a bad film, but it would’ve been better if it was a 9 episode Disney+ show. It would’ve given the characters more screen time to understand them, instead of a 2 hour movie.
and i assume you are going to pay for that? lol
It would’ve been great to do both. A TV show in the past and then have this movie without so many flash backs

It's crazy when you think that thanos' plan could have been to delay the emergence across the universe
Said it in a few places recently, but yeah, it would've been served better as a series to flesh out the characters relationships more, but I don't think that people wanting to have had more of the characters they got is the worst problem to have. The humour is on point, as is the choreography and general plot even if a bit stretched thin due to scope for a single movie.
As a person who finds it incredibly hard to motivate themselves to watch things when I'm not 1000% invested and hyped, this reaction is the first time I'm seeing the film, and I completely agree w y'all saying it should've been a show. I got that vibe before this reaction tbh, just with the pure scale of the cast (and I mean, getting spoiled that the highest profile members would be the deaths, I'm sure we'll see them again but it does still feel a waste). Expanding upon this thought actually, Makkari's actor has been a part of The Walking Dead for a few seasons now - TWD, funnily enough, is actually getting a spinoff show of character-focussed one-offs soon. If Marvel wasn't juggling so much with the Multiverse and what looks like setup for an MCU Secret Wars arc, having a show that brings back a bunch of beloved MCU characters (not just Eternals) to explore comic arcs we didn't get to see or maybe skipped over? That would be sick as hell! TWD is including dead characters too, so for Marvel, the possibilities would be endless... and I know that maybe sounds similar to What If, but they wouldn't be stories from different universes, it would just be an extension of Earth 616 and its canon. Honestly, I'd rather have had that than What If if we had the power to choose!
31:59 Thanks! You're actually the first person, of all the Eternals reactions videos I've seen, calling it "marble" and not Tiamut getting frozen lol

You just said "it's the weakest storyline" as if it is a fact - and you didn't even explain why you thought so.
@@DannX68 *I* think Dane Whitman's inclusion was unnecessary, the flashbacks weren't utilized well, and the deviant plot was very sidelined to Icarus being the villain but then neither felt particularly effective. So it wasn't just that there "wasn't enough explosions" for me. I think most reviews raise similar points about the pacing and plot, so attempting to dismiss those that are critical of it before considering different views is a bit of a waste of time.

@@yapdog But Dane used up screen time to very little effect though. I know it's subjective, but so are all the other thoughts on it.
@@rtan451 Dane used up *very little* screen time, but to great effect.
First, he was critical in showing how Sersi had grown into a "normal" life; this (and the fact that she was a teacher) was necessary to fully illustrate her connection to the people, which informed her decision to stop the emergence.
Further, Sersi's, "normal" life is what made Sprite jealous, illustrating Sprite's complete disconnect from the life she so craved for 7000 years (i.e. she'd never know what it's like to be a woman. Forever).
A more valid criticism of Dane's character is that he had no story and no agency which means he experienced no growth and wasn't trying to achieve anything, i.e. he only existed for other characters. However, no all characters must have agency/story. Outside of that, it seems that the subjective criticisms are born of dashed hopes for Black Knight. If he were, say, Ralph Harrison the accountant no one would've had a problem with the character, especially given the fact that he had so little screen time.

You could just extend the movie to be six or so episodes, maybs with one flashback each max, and develop the characters better that way.
Or, you could have a show where it's a bunch of half-hour episodes in different time periods with each Eternal getting their time to shine, perhaps even explaining how the myths about them happened. (I'd love to see how the nice and calm Sersi gets remembered as Circe, the Greek witch who turns people into pigs.) And maybe the last episodes could be a multi-parter that's a trimmed down version of the movie or something.

Some really sad parts overall - especially seeing Phastos after seeing what his technology led to. Such a great scene.
honestly this one for me was like the first time I saw Guardians of the Galaxy. didn't know the characters well so I didn't know what to expect, had kind of neutral expectations - ended up loving it.
I just recently watched this movie and I really liked it. I feel like it gets hated on too much. The only issue I have with it is that there are too many characters and it’s hard to get attached to all of them.
Ikarus was well written very unexpected
U could really feel and empathize with his emotional turmoil and not being able to harm sersei after looking her in the eyes made me tear up
Was it that bad? No -no it wasn't. I was scared to watch it initially cause I saw all the negative reviews and such, but after watching it I couldn't really find anything really bad about it. My guess is that maybe certain individuals couldn't handle a gay character or the rather diverse cast? I dunno. Either way I thought it was fine and it definitely had some cool moments.
And don't forget the sex scene. Also gross.
I dont think its the fact about the sexuality of the eternal more of that its different from other "marvel" movies, like the atmosphere and the vibe it gives off is more of a "heaven vibe", while marvel movies like iron, captain america, even thor gives off more "earthly" vibes.
@@or3_f1nn78 oh no trust me, some ppl really can‘t handle diversity
@@JuanRamirez-zk9lt yeah, i guess some of the reason is that too.
I think Ikaris killed himself not out of guilt, but because he was he was so loyal to the celestials but couldn't bring himself to stop Sersi. For him it was an impossible choice, so he took the third way.
Arishem isn't Idiot Seb.. He is the literal god of MCU. Celestials create galaxies (each containing billions of stars hence nearly trilliion planets). You might have not listened to his explanation because you were talking. Without heat (stars) life ceases to exist.. which is real theory in physics and is true. So in grand scheme, earth is nothing. But in MCU, earth is important since most super heroes exist on earth 😅
Celestials keeps the balance of light and darkness in the universe. They create the sun and galaxies across the universe . And to carry on this cycle of the universe Every billion years celestial must be born.
For me Arishem is the only character I agree with in this movie
As a member of the fitness community, I love how seb always never misses to mention how most marvel actors r on the secrete juice aka steroids. Although its a widely known thing in our community, the average person thinks they r all natty
I find it uber deceptive how some claim that “we’re all natural” when in reality they’re forced to do steroids and go on restrictive diets. I just wish we didn’t have these unrealistic expectations on these guys and just accepted that, hey, you can be attractive AND strong and not have wash board abs. But again, I don’t think we’re quite there yet seeming how one particular actor who didn’t have abs (GOD FORBID) got a lot of backlash from let’s call them, a very passionate fanbase. I hope these actors’ health are not in the balance because of the frequent steroid use.
@@toniodejimi3905 the thing is we should we blame the actors or the company or ourselves. We r the ones that want to see our favourite heroes all muscular and god like. Like Thor. And what’s the way to look muscular in a short period of time. Steroids. These company want these actors to juice up and not tell anyone because of their contract. But most actors would take the risk because the reward is big. The companies should be open about steroid abuse in the industry and allow actors to be open about their use. Only then will this be solved. But they don’t wanna look bad so they won’t. Best solution is to educate everyone about steroid abuse in the industry and hope they understand.
@@toniodejimi3905 I’m actually curious. What actor are you referring to?
I really like Eternals and re-watched it twice already. It's super easy to enjoy in my opinion but there's a ton of stuff that got cut out. It would have easily worked as a short series and I would have definitely preferred that but the movie isn't bad by any means.
There's several shots in the teaser trailer that were not in the movie. Some of the deleted scenes have been released, but I know there's tons of deleted scenes that still have yet to see the light of day.
Glad that you liked it. This was the first movie I dared to see in a theater after over a year of quarantine, and I absolutely enjoyed it. I've been waiting for a long time to see Sersi and Dane Whitman in the big screen and I am very excited to see them in future movies with the X-men and the Avengers.
(during gilgamesh’s death) “no he was one of my favourites”
yeah man, he was my number 1 favourite too 🤧
I love how Richard Madden gets to use his Scottish accent,
That's David Kaye as Arishem. He does the voice of Optimus Prime.
Dane Whitman is the Black Knight. His next appearance will be with Blade, and maybe with The Moon Knight.
26:00 Ikaris didn't feel upset that he killed Ajak, He was angry that she turned on Arishem
32:16 Ikaris and Sprite wasn't voluntarily helping(they weren't wearing Phastos' bracelets), the Celestial Tiamut combined them all together
31:40 He wasn't saying sorry to Sersi because he betrayed her, he was saying sorry because he couldn't go through with his beliefs
32:56 Ikarus didn't kill himself because of the guilt of betraying his family, he failed his mission. He was more afraid that he betrayed Arishem. Technically they're all supposed to die during the emergence anyway. So him dying, eventually he will be reborn again in the world forge. Personally i kind of want Ajak and Gilgamesh to be reborn as well
Why tiamut combined them, didn't he realised they want to delay him?
@@yabada7866 Sersi answered that at the end of the movie.
At first they were trying to make Tiamut sleep, but when Ikarus interrupted and injured Druig they only had the last option of killing Tiamut.
I guess you could say Tiamut made a sacrifice to save Earth's destruction
@@markcruz359 ok but why would he sacrifice himself? Aren't the celestials the ones who technically want/need the destruction?
@@yabada7866 The other Celestials did, like Arishem. But Tiamut wasn't even born yet. Who knows we might learn more in Thor Love and Thunder
@@markcruz359 I hope so, but the whole premise feels illogical for me tbh.
Dane Whitman becomes a character named Black Knight who wields the Ebony Blade. It’s forged by Merlin and Sir Percy from a starstone meteorite (Dane is a descendant of Percy). The sword is extremely powerful, with the ability to cut through anything, prevent the wielder from death, and block magical attacks. But the downside is that the more you use it, the more corrupted you become for blood lust. And the person who spoke to Dane (it’s stupid it had to be confirmed through a post credit scene but still) was Mahershala Ali as Blade (half vampire half human). For those who are familiar with the comics, this is very exciting because this along with Moon Knight coming out, Strange already being established, and the Werewolf by Night Halloween special coming, shows that they’re likely building the Midnight Sons. Pretty much a supernatural group of heroes and anti heroes in the Marvel universe. I LOVE the supernatural/mystic side of the universe and can’t wait to see it explored heavily in the MCU
As for this movie specially, although I definitely don’t think it’s as bad as some people say, it’s definitely not my favorite. My biggest complaint about this movie personally, is that I just can’t connect with these characters or find any of them really intriguing. I’m a person who loves characters above all else, and when I don’t click with a character it’s hard for me to be invested in the rest of the story. And to me personally, I just was not a fan of these characters. Potentially due to time constraints being in a movie and not a series, having them all introduced at once, I’m not too sure. But that is my biggest gripe with the movie overall. Aside from Dane in his limited time, since I was already familiar with his character in the source material
Another reaction in the bag! Love watching your Videos Seb 👌
Alright let's settle this. Let me address to the people who think this movie looks "cheap looking". Watch every single MCU movie again and tell me, you really think this movie's cinematography is terrible? The visuals were stunning, arguably the best in an MCU movie. This movie had great shots, visuals, looked as high quality as something like Dune. I really want to know at what part of the film looked "cheap" because it didn't. Not a lot of CGI was used as they were shot in real locations, which makes it more beautiful to look at. Now obviously if a film is judged based on visuals and cinematography then you'll end up with a film like Rise Of Skywalker. I'm just saying that this movie was definitely no where close to cheap looking.
Now the people who say this movie was "boring", it wasn't. Yes it is very slow paced compared to every other MCU movie, but any person who doesn't have an attention span of a 2 year old or craves for non stop action sequences for 2hr37 min is able to sit through this. This is the first movie of the franchise, if you're comparing this to other starting films in MCU trilogies this is definitely a great one. Sure, it does not beat Spiderman: Homecoming, but it was far more enjoyable than Captain America: The First Avenger, Iron Man and Thor. Don't get me wrong, you got films afterwards in their trilogies like Iron Man 3, Winter Soldier, Civil War, Far From Home, No Way Home, Thor: Ragnarok that are insanely good. I'm saying for the first movie in this franchise it is far more enjoyable to watch. If you only watch action movies then yeah this will probably appear "boring" to you, but the flashback scenes I thought were all necessary and amazing to look at with the different time periods.
I agree this movie structurally isn't that solid, and the plot was kind of all over the place. The main part of the film was about the Eternals getting back together and then stopping the birth of a celestial. Ikaris's betrayal and the Deviants were just sideline problems that were presented to the Eternals. With more time or if they split the movie into two parts, the film could've been executed even better. Maybe first movie could be Eternals and their back story with fighting off Deviants, and then the second movie could be about stopping the Emergence.
If you actually watched this with an open mind, instead of crying about a 2 second gay kiss, or the fact that the Avengers aren't in this, or the fact that the cast is so diverse, or the fact that it's not your typical good guys win bad guys lose story, you'll probably find this movie average at best. You're all saying like it's the "worst" movie ever made but if you've seen, just as an example, something like He's All That, Eternals looks like an Oscar winning film.
This was not your typical MCU film as it did not follow the normal formula. This film wasn't scared to kill off a character (even if you didn't care about them), and this film explored more on the human side of things. When they killed off Gilgamesh, I obviously didn't feel as much emotion as someone like Tony Stark dying, but I was still mad they killed off a cool character. We just got properly introduced to him somewhat and he already seemed very likeable. This was definitely a more mature type of movie and I am under 20 years old and I appreciate this movie a lot. This wasn't my favorite MCU movie but it's no where near the "worst", it is definitely a 6-7.5/10 .
This movie definitely had top tier CGI (except Pip the Troll at the end) and the visuals and fights were stunning. If you thought this movie was "confusing" go watch Inception or Tenet or Midsommar (they're not actually confusing but if you thought this movie was "confusing" somehow get ready to get more confused)
I agree with most of your rant, except the second paragraph. For me, personally, my biggest gripe with this movie is that it is boring. I have no problem with slow burn movies, I rewatch a ton of shit that isn't MCU or superhero or even action. But I just could barely connect with any of these characters at all, so I didn't care what happened to most of them. I feel the exact same way about the comics. Cool concept, big potential, boring execution.
@@brewdaly1873 I completely agree with this. The visuals weren't the problem, I just found the movie boring. (and just replying to the person that made this comment, I actually found it less enjoyable than Iron Man 1 and Captain America The First Avenger)
This is the only comment in this whole section that sides the same as I do
This movie was very boring to me. I didn't care about any of the characters and that is a big issue with it. In the Shawshank Redemption, there isn't much action and it's a lot of talking and it's a slow movie, but you care about the characters and I didn't find it boring. Now it's not a superhero movie, but it isn't an action movie and it's still entertaining. The recent The Batman movie didn't have action 24/7 but I was captivating throughout. Some people say it's too long, but I think that it balanced the exposition and detective stuff well with the action. Although the third act did feel a bit weird. Anyway, that movie had lots of moments without action but it used visuals and tone to keep you interested. Also I gave a shit about Batman and Gordon which helps
couldnt wait for your reaction to harry at the end hahahah that was hilarious
One of the few Marvel films that didn't stick to it's formula and introduced us to the celestials which opens the door for a lot of cool new things. I love this movie
i love when ikarus flys towards the sun because it links to the actual greek myth about the labarynth and how icarus flew out of the labarythn but the wax on his wings melted because he flew to close to the sun
For me, I personally put the film around the middle of my rankings. I definitely dont think its the worst or close to be "rotten" but I do think it suffered a bit being a team movie because we didnt really get enough time to fully establish each character. But Im still excited to see where they go with them from here. And Ive been kind of hoping they'll do a Black Knight show, but maybe he'll show in the Blade movie.
The sad truth is that this film had too much to cover and it ended up being spread a bit thin. This film has already opened many doors and explained a lot about the future direction for Marvel but sadly this film always feels as if it struggle’s to cope with the magnitude of what it is trying to say.
Oh and Btw Dane Whitman (kit Harrington's character) is the black knight a mediaeval like superhero. Wielder of the Ebony Blade the most powerful sword in existence.
The Peter Pan is a deeper reference to whats happening in this movie. Ikarus being Peter to Sersi's Wendy, and Sprite's Tinkerbell. Is more than just about Sprite's love for Ikarus and jealousy of Sersi. Factor in the "rest of us are the Lost Boys" line. And you have a clue of Ikarus's betrayal. In the original Peter Pan it is hinted that Peter kills the Lost Boys who are growing up. Which is against the rules. Which would be similar to Ikarus killing the other Eternals for trying to stop the emergence.
So glad you enjoyed it!
Loved the reaction and loved the movie - the hate was unfounded.
Have a great day 🥳
YESSSSS😍😍😍😍 excited to watch your reaction to this one
Gotta catch up on what I've missed. Gotta feed the algorithm for that adorable face.
seb's laugh makes me so happy *-*
The Dom Top reference tells us all we wanted to know... And maybe a little bit more. lol
I didn't watch this movie in theaters cause of the bad reviews. A few days ago I saw the movie was on Disney+, so I gave it a shot. After all I had not much to expect so I could not be disappointed, right? WRONG! Minutes in the movie I thought "and where is the bad part now?!". I really enjoyed this movie. It was lighter in its setting and at the same time interdimensional. I loved short moments like the one where Kingo said:"My believes are different from yours, but I will not hurt you because of that" and he didn't participate in the final fight. Thats a great message right there. We all have different believes/morals/etc. But that doesn't mean we can't love and respect each other for who we are. The movie proofed to me that reviews are not always right for yourself and you should give things a try to build your own opinion about it :)
❤️ rewatching reactions like this just make me freaking love it even more. The initial criticisms drowns the experience, happened to BW, Shang-Chi, IW, even Endgame, and now happened majorly for Eternals. It's why I preferred to catch up when it's all blown over, now everyone is largely talking about the nice parts. Yayzie.
I am watching your reaction for the first time and I like it very much, believe me, I love you ✌
this is a very underrated movie and my favorite eternal is kingo and druig lol
I'm pretty much right there with you on how I feel about the movie. Excluding the introduction of 10 new characters and the flashbacks kind of making us jump around constantly, I enjoyed the movie, and I didn't really have a problem with all the new faces. The minor things that either didn't fit well, or just didn't make any sense were: Gilgameshs' death, it seemed pointless in a sense. I understand extra motivation is needed through the death of a character, but it just didn't feel right. Kro (the head honcho deviant) seemed pointless to the story sadly. I thought he was going to be some big bad, especially after absorbing Ajak and Gilgameshs' power. In the end, he literally just get sliced to death while hes holding Thena, not even a struggle, no fight build up leading to it, just killed him. Laslty, as you feel, why was Ikaris so flip floppy? Decides to kill Ajak, relaizes he can't kill Cersei and ends up putting the celestial to sleep, again just felt off. Other than that, I really enjoyed the fresh faces and a breath of fresh air. The movie looked gorgeous, fight scenes were what they needed to be, and the comedy for the most part was enjoyable. Also, Team Makari and Druig.
I enjoyed it in theaters, but loved your reaction! Sometimes it IS the company you keep!
aaaaamazing reactions!!!!
I love the fact that the deviant is legit just Cell from dragon ball, just absorbing everyone, getting stronger and evolving with each absorption.
30:41 "He doesn't like to be restrained. He's a dom top" I'm speechless
Yeah imma need that on a t-shirt >.
Technically none of the Eternals are actually dead. They can always come back via the World Forge (which is how it also worked in the comics pretty much). I'm pretty sure we'll be seeing all of the ones that "died" again, especially Ikaris.
I just got the rock reference 😭 Sersi turning Tiamut into a rock lmfaoooo
Please consider reacting to Peacemaker. It is a really really good show. It is my 2nd favorite DC series so far after Doom Patrol. Both of these series are really fun to watch and I hope I rewatch it with you soon.
I just love how Druig acts as if he couldn't mind control Ikaris, I'm sure he could have
34:00 I CANNOT WITH YOUR REACTION LMFAOOO
I loved this movie, the special effects were amazing and the voice of blade at end warning the guy who will become the black knight
been waiting for this one
Fun fact it was confermed that the voice at the end was the new actor for blade.
Dane Whitman, aka The Black Knight. The 3rd to carry the title, that is.
The offscreen voice asking him if he's sure he's ready for it is Blade. Mahershala Ali (Cottonmouth in Luke Cage) is playing him in the MCU
0:46 I’m glad that I’m not the only one who thought that.
Best line I’ve heard Seb utter…”he’s a dumb top!” 👍
voice at the end talking to Dane was that of Mahershala Ali, who’s gonna be Blade coming up. check out Moon Knight trailer, they’re setting up a cool group called Midnight Sons (Blade, Black Knight, Moon Knight, maybe Ghost Rider)
"Celestials came... a lot of cleaning up to do..." 💀🤣
12:06 i remember sombody screamed "God damn" in the theather
I swear I legit was thinking the first shot by the sun reminded me of the tardis that’s nuts 😮
I like how they mixed the formula up a bit. We see their powers before their personality which I also like since it's a little different.
The hand gesture that the statue of Arishem is making on the Domo is the ASL sign for "asshole"
Rewatching it i have grown to hate it less😂😂
final scene... is Black knight sword.... and the voice of the new " BLADE "
"He's on the ultron juice" lmao Kumail definitely is looking goooooood. His character is so underrated. Him and Karunnnnn
I'm so glad you also loved this movie, it got a ton of unwarranted shade from haters! Keep up the great reactions!
I can’t wait for Seb to react to Shang Shi!! I KNOW he is going to ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!! ❤️
I really enjoyed this movie. I mean you can kinda say that they could’ve done this or that or gone this way a little more with a certain character(s), but it leave so many new roads open to take and lots of different directions with the characters we met in the movie. Dane Whitman, the voice at the end (Blade)…I’m with you bro, I really liked it. Now ya gotta watch Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Shang-Chi…..F’n fantastic dude !
Peace and love
"I am very beautiful"...he's not wrong
I would love to see you watch The Big Sick!! It was written by Kumail Nanjiani and his wife Emily V. Gordon about how they met and fell in love. One of the best modern rom-coms in my opinion!
Mr. Harold Styles is there in this movie, I’m watching it!
going into the movie i thought it’d be so bad cause of the reviews but after watching i ended up loving it 😭
How interesting for you to upload this today! I watched this a few days ago and... couldn't get through it. About 45 minutes in I was so incredibly bored that I started skipping through the storyline just to end it quicker. Afterwards I thought okay that's not fair either, so I decided to take a few days and watch it again, this time properly, and did that today. I'm still not super impressed by it (I think it would've benefitted from being a series instead) but I'm alright with it now. I'm curious to see what your verdict will be!
Interesting, I have more patience than that so I can’t say I’ve felt similarly
Ikaris flying to the sun is like a parallelism to Greek mythological character icarus who flew close to the sun and die
OMG i was watching it in 3d when the deviant ate the guys head scared me so bad
“I’m not who you think I am.”
“You’re not Bucky’s twin? What are you trying to say?” 😂
David Kaye did a very good job voicing arishem I remember him voicing Megaton in Beast wars as a kid.
That's why the trailers and the various clips and videos about eternals are posted by marvel entertainment, to guide the audience better understand the characters better....
"Thank you deviants for stopping the cheating."😂😂 I automatically said 'Amen.'
