The Rangers record season record made them seem weaker than they actually were. Yes beating 99 and 101 win teams is impressive, but they were clearly better than the Rays and O's. Beating Houston in the ALCS and doing it on the road was very impressive so kudos to them for doing that. The D-Backs were no contest for them. Merrill Kelly pitching the game of his life was the only reason Arizona didn't get swept. Having said all of that I don't care how it will be viewed, my Texas Rangers are World Series champs and I couldn't be happier.
Our Pythagorean record (estimated record based on runs scored and runs allowed) was 96-66. This is due to having a disproportionately poor record in close games (as others have pointed out, we had 33 blown saves compared to only 30 saves). Thankfully we got away with it in the playoffs by our electric offense and overall solid starting pitching.
Thank you! 50+ years of waiting and loving the poor Asstros, Yankees, Dodgers and Red Sox fans who are such poor losers! Texas Rangers World Series Champions 2023!!!!
I'm not a Rangers fan and I say yes. 11 of their 17 playoff games were on the road, they beat the defending champs at their place (went 4-9 against them in the regular season), and they were without their main pitcher and Garcia for half of the WS. It reminds me of the Bucs SB run from 2020, the Packers in 2010, and the Steelers in 2005.
On paper? Yes. In practice? Well... it's a little complicated. The Astros were the only tough roadblock in their way. On paper, the Rays and Orioles should have given them a dogfight for the ages. Instead, Tampa rolled over and let them rip their throats out, while the Orioles got curbstomped by an experienced team, and the Diamondbacks suffered a similar fate. Was it the Road Rangers just flexing their might in enemy territory? Maybe, but all I know is this: THE CURSE IS FINALLY OVER, BABY, RANGERS WS 2023.

That game 1 comeback is what flipped the series without that win I think they would’ve gone to at least game 6 and still win though. Anyway reverse sweeping the Astros helped them out a lot and it likely silenced the haters that this was done for even though we were witnessing the beginning of a winning Rangers that beat the previous champs and dominated when they had to . What a run! 🔥
The Rangers shouldn't have been a WC team. They were so much better than their record bc of that late season slide. They were my favorite to win it all going in simply bc their offense was dangerous all year long.
