Which brand are you choosing?
I think I'd choose stone Island. At the end of the day I appreciate both brands for their quality, but you also have to consider style. Whilst I don't think either have great style at the moment, I think stone Island has a more wearable look compared to CP.
Stone Island all the way. That color is beautiful, and I think the colors of the badge work especially well with it.
Both! Now I don’t feel like I’m buying a cheaper product with CP.
Legacy pieces there isn’t anything between them. Since Moncler took over SI the prices have increased dramatically and the quality has dropped noticeably.
CP have also started doing cheaper, lower quality items, which are stocked in Sports Direct etc.
Both aren’t what they were but their best, classic pieces are still lovely.
Neither. End of an era for me. Lucky if I can find one proper piece per year that screams Osti years.
Incredible! Love a longer and more in-depth video. I really appreciated how you compared two garments from different brands side by side. I feel like this way the viewer gets a better perspective. Great idea!
So glad!
Moral of the story is to think twice about the products you buy. Some brands have it figured out and the price tag is justified, others inflate their prices through marketing. Be careful and diligent.
You paying for the research and development for SI
@@jakegutierrez2323 not so much now. Osti principles have been replaced why a company simply looking to cash in on what R&D SI have already done. The prototype colour changes weren’t really anything new.
Both did some Dyneema pieces but I’d say CPs’ was more innovative.
What Moncler have done to SI prices is painful, when I don’t see them adding any value, if anything they’ve taken some away.
When Massimo Osti founded both companies they were known for cutting edge materials/R&D and dying techniques. He was a genius tbh and way ahead of his time.
In ways it’s sad to see how much of his original ethos has been lost in most of their modern ranges.
With reference to the badges I did chuckle when he said “it’s nothing special” without addressing just how hard counterfeiters find it to make a passable badge, to an expert eye. There are lots of small details in the badge alone that make it expensive and time consuming to replicate effectively.
The ways the different badge colours symbolise the different materials/tech is also pretty genius.
Mentioned it in our comments about the supply chain for the badges. You are absolutely right! The direction of the embroidery thread will all be specific Stone island. They will absolutely protect their gcode and thread suppliers!
I totally agree. Osti did not always get it right but when he did it was magic. Shame I don't like modern Stoney or CP no more. They became fashion brands and sold out to commercialism. They used to be manly clothes in excellent military style cuts and just right.
CP and stoney were never supposed to be the exact same, but now they both just sell cargo trousers, hoodies, and overshirts. The lens on the CP makes no sense and serves no function other than its now stone island by another name. Ridiculous. If I had known they would fall off like this I would have bought masses of their stuff in the late 1990s.
@@cookiemonster7514 When they go to the archive you will see some classic pieces drop still, just at massively inflated prices.
I genuinely think Plurimus are the answer. Lots of the same influences and principles as Osti and at far lower price points. Quality and designs are next level. As u said though,, no comp will get it right every time when you aren’t just following the mainstream trends.
There recent squid snow camo is one of the few bits I’ve badly wanted in years.
Their early backpack/jacket/liner bits are also gorgeous.
Have been wearing S.I and C.P for about 25 years and the quality on both have gone downhill since they were under the same umbrella and made in Italy, but I wear more CP these days for a couple of reasons, firstly the cost is far more affordable and like these guys proved - the difference in quality is near enough the same. Secondly, i think the CP designs are better these days, Paul Harvey and Lorenzo Osti changed the game in the early 2010’s by putting the lens on the arm. Stone Island has hit a bit of a wall, and not to mention priced out of the average man’s pocket since Moncler bought it. The average man who was responsible for the success of the brand I might add.
Can't wait to C what I can cook up with the scraps! Looking forward to seeng Acronym next!
acronym video would be dooope!!
Especially since I noticed that they use 18 singles open ended yarn on some of their t -shirts. Not exactly high quality yarn, but with a lot of printing work instead. Would love to see the break down.
So amazing to learn more about what goes into the production and quality control of these products! Thank you for the content!!!!
Our pleasure!
Excellent video! And I agree with Will's take re: the shadow project line. I have a 60207 Utility Hoodie and it has a much better fit, also the kangaroo pocket is over-engineered AF with zipped up hidden pockets. Lovely piece.
Can't wait to see more of these.
great informative video, shockingly high level production especially considering you’re at 6K subs. liked and subbed :)
Appreciate it! Just wait till you see what we have coming out next week! 🫡
It's not a "crime"....great job and thanks for sharing this valueable info
Excellent video by Joe and Will, packed with valuable information. I’m here for the challenge 😁…
“If you think about it, CP Company hoodies are kind of like fashion parachutes, they’ll catch you when you fall out of style and make sure you land on your feet looking fly.”
“Who needs a map when you’ve got a Stone Island hoodie with a compass logo? Perfect for the football hooligan who wants to look tough while staying on course to chaos.”
Thank you guys, that was so interesting and entertaining to watch! 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
love the video! acronym next please 😀
These videos with Will are so good. Really interesting!
Glad you like them!
Great content, thanks for sharing the information ❤
Hey, do next AMI Paris 😊
I think the 'half brushed' texture on the inside of the CP hoodie is probably an end result of garment dyeing. Usually the hoodie is then enzyme washed to cut this pilling back but in turn, some colour will be lost. Since they wanted to keep a deep black, I'm guessing this process was shortened or skipped. On the Stone Island you can tell even though it has also been garment dyed, it has gone through a heavy enzyme wash to get a real clean inside and also further fading on the outside. This might be also why the end result is slightly lighter colour than the thread. Anyway all speculation... just my thoughts
also makes sense as to why the stone island doesn't feel as smooth to the touch, another effect of heavy enzyme wash
The Napping of the terry is very consistent and would be a result of mechanical breakage 🫡 Great observations!
@@Shiftfashiongroup good point!
Incredible video!!!
What black zip hoodie brand are you wearing? where can i buy it? thanks
Hi guys, I’m from italy and i’m a long time fan of both brands. I’d love to see a comparison of price/quality ratio between S.I. and higher end luxury brands such as Gucci or Dior. One last thing, despite perception might be different, the prices of Stone Island jackets and knits are comparatively lower now than in the 80’s/90’s, at least in Italy.
Do a midweight hoodie from reigning champ! Quality is fantastic imo and would love to hear your guys opinion on whether its worth the price!
Stone Island Jumpers ✅
Stone Island Jackets ✅
Stone Island Hoodies ❌❌❌
Curious about Les TIEN !
The error is great!
Stone Island is in my opinion a great Italian brand but too many exposure and too many wanna be and mainstream people who gave the brand another look.
C.P. Company is a kind of stylisher brand more for adults I think with great decent luxury fabrics there is an agegap I think and more grown op people.
Belstaff leatherjacket and Lacoste polo would be great! :-)
Gstar, Carlo Colucci/Coogi might be also very interesting.
Great upload
Hi could you guys do a breakdown of seventh hoodies
On the list!
can you guys do a hoodie from Reigning Champ or JJJJound J90 / J70 / J80 Hoodie ?
Reigning champ in the next batch of items we purchased!
do a Louis Vuitton jacket or something, that would be fun to watch
Still very thick fabric for summer hoodie The winter collection is even thicker
very good content.
If you send me the pieces, I can construct a Stone Island/CP Company hybrid and turn super saiyan, bring Massimo Osti back from the dead, make hypebeasts enter existential crisis, and cause the "that badge is ugly, I don't get it" types have a conniption. I'll do it for the culture.
(I'm teaching myself to make clothes and would love to look at these pieces first hand, especially paired with this video. And I'll use the fabric!)
you got a contact?
As a long time Stone Island collector I am impressed with the results, I always knew the quality was good because the pieces last so long, hence they also keep value. They focus mostly on outwear and knits so to see their hoodies make the cut is great.
Honestly for me the ethos, the appeal and all that of the Brand is in their Knits and in their Outerwear. I would never buy something else from them, because what makes Stone Island special is in those two categories of products.
please do a barbour wax jacket if you havent already
Good example fot the feeling topic at 22:00 min ist e.g. the german brand SANVT (they are making very hq basic garments). In terms of that specific factor their crewsnecks feel like a 400 € piece in comparison (price is actually 80 €).
When you're talking ELS cotton constructed garments quality will never exceed anything above 100% cotton (which is what they use) the comparison between them and S.P.A is like comparing an apple to an orange, No matter how you spin it they're just not the same.
And besides that, £50 for a plain white 100% cotton (160 GSM) T Shirt is ridiculous lol.
casual style❤
Burberry hoodie and trench coat
Great comparison, but Stone Island is not about hoodies; their wool knits were one of the greatest, if not the greatest, on the market.
Hm, i dont know what to think about this. I own the 50LA3 Lambswool Knit Cardigan, the buttonholes and armcuffs became loose 😐 otherwise its great ive to agree, but this sucks a bit.
@@Jackson-jk9ff I had the same one, I gave it to my mom. I like those unique knitting pieces, I could list a few if you're interested.
Do a kith hoodie next.

Want an early Bape top to investigate?
This could be good for a then vs now review type video!
do Acronym next!
Kith hoodie
Legends
Lmao. Im so funny.
A lamp shade
Kenzo, Ami, kith, essentials fog and ovo please
We've done essentials! The others are on the list!
There's a reason S.P.A has garnered such a cult following over the decades it has been designing pieces and it's not just because some of them look wearable.
Even though they can be a little pricey at times, the sizing is confusing if you don't know how to take your measurements and some will even argue that quality has diminished in recent releases, In all the years I have been buying pants, hoodies, t shirts or even button ups none have came even close to producing the level of quality that I find with both Stone Island and it's parent brand C.P Company while also providing what I consider universal wearability.
If I had to chose though, the obvious winner is Stone Island. Their ability to innovate textiles and create truly unique pieces with them generation after generation is second to none in my personal opinion and I say all of this as someone that isn't even a die hard fan. To this day the only thing I've found that's mildly close to their Supima Cotton cargo's quality for example is a pair of ' Relaxed Chinos ' pants by Nudie Jeans.
(Highly recommend doing a bit on Nudie if you haven't already.)
will lasry be hot asl
Will looks like the Joe La Puma of clothing.
Hey, can you do Fear of God Athletics?
We have a piece already lined up!
You guys need to team up and start a channel together
You wouldn’t go to either for a hoodie though 😂 they make jackets 🧥
Stone island David tc jacket or stone island econyl nylon metal 🫡
Do rick owens DRKSHDW
How can we work with you guys? Do you support Start-ups?
We typically work with established brands. But we do see a need to help clothing brand startups! We want to do it in a way without selling a course. No promises on timelines but we are working on it!
@@Shiftfashiongroup we would really appreciate that. As we think there are many mistakes to avoid in the very beginning and with the help of guys like you, we all could contribute to make the industry more sustainable by avoiding those mistakes..
Again an amazing Video! Would love to see you do some of these brands that are known for very good quality (Bottega Veneta, Jil Sander etc)
They are on the list!
Would love to see a Jil Sander breakdown
For Stone Island you always has to size up so the fitting review was not very justified
The fits for both brands are catered for European markets and body bone structures. Which differ from north american markets
@@Shiftfashiongroup trust me I’m a thin English guy and I size up at least 1 size with jackets and hoodies/knits so not sure that statement is true tbh.
Ghost bits are different but with normal SI, I’d always try a jacket or check it’s pit to pit measurement first, as they can vary massively with sizing.
What I don’t get is how a country that invented Pizza and Pasta has a nation of anorexic sizing 😂
Do you buy online?
Super interesting content. You guys need to be wearing lab coats while doing these autopsies.
Haha 🥼🥼🥼
Adidas Spezial FTW.
Osti
20:25 disappointed look
Please cut up Polo Ralph Lauren
both companys founded by the same guy
Yup!
cut up Represent owners club hoodie
It's on the list!
I get that style and taste are ultimately subjective, but that Stone Island hoodie is just such an awful fit. No amount of praise for its craftsmanship in the manufacturing of the hoodie is going to validate its poor design.
Can we look at a Cav Empt or Acne piece next - however much that will hurt to see, Cav Empt rules supreme in the hoodie department, would be interesting to see if the design quality of the fit matches the material and manufacturing.
We've done a piece from Acne! Checkout the what it cost playlist!
If you out on a hoodie a size or two too small it would also look bad.
They needed at least a size up, probably two.
@@Shiftfashiongroup yeah, found it after posting. Acne hoodie or crewneck would be interesting to compare like for like with the ones you’ve done. Love this channel ❤️
I Never knew these were itallian brands. they're chavvy garbage that every homeless man somehow has despite these things costing hundreds!
They’ve GOT TO change their name. Having “CP” in the name is WILD😭💀
Never seen anyone comment on that says more about your mind
@@hshsjwbshsjwjekjeje Not at all. Having the word CP in your brands name is fucking crazy😭 Once it becomes a more popular brand you’ll see more people bringing that up💀
@@BasedStarClips more popular 😂 been around since the 70s... cold pizza crazy catapilla or the one that comes to your mind... strange mind you have
@@BasedStarClips it’s been around since the 70s and was originally Chester Perry. Trust me most people don’t think about CP as anything to do with kids or it wouldn’t have grown a huge following from football hooligans 😂 Have you seen what that type of person does to people that fiddle kids 🤔
Odd comment
Lacoste vs Polo Ralph Lauren
