Its a pitty that James' best album (Pleased To Meet You) was a commercial flop. Love this tune, they played it live here in Portugal a couple of years ago. Great moment it was!
Well, it could be a lot more specific than this, I don't know, but I take it as any moment in your life when you have an epiphany that the things you thought defined you and separated you from others were totally illusory... a feeling of connection and letting go of an old identity. Becoming part of something bigger than yourself. Finally free from old labels. And hoping that others will see you for who you really are. This could describe a lot of things. I think I'm going through this myself.
Also, I like to believe, for my own sake (even though this is wrong) that it is actually about space. I have read a lot of books, watched a lot of movies and etc. about space (Sci - fi, fantasy, documentary), and this song truly brings out the strange feelings you get in the process. Such as when I played the computer game "WoW" years back, there was a strange character "Algalon the Observer", whose story always fascinated me. This song reminds me of him. Or of the genius movie "K - PAX".
I, personally, think this means something else. A more "cliche" topic, "You've gotta get over yourself, you've gotta get out of the frame" hence that you should always try new things and never be afraid, and how most of the people are stuck in a boring everyday routine and the adventurous spirt in humans has ceased. "My four walls, my shape defines" also backs up my theory.
I apologize for never seeing this reply! Just came back to watch this video again, became fascinated by this conversation, and then realized it was ME and that I had rudely never replied. If you're still around, we could certainly chat sometime, but I'll wait to see if you get this reply. Frankly I don't even remember how I discovered James, but you're right, James fans are hard to come by. Hope you're well.
Typical James - utterly mystifying lyrics. I'm still trying to work them out - but that's what's so compelling about this band and in particular, this album. Brilliant tune, brilliant song, thanks for uploading.
Think about buddhist meditation and perspective about reality. I think the song is about an spiritual experience based in non exist or vacuity. Have a nice life :)
Hm, if you want you could add me in skype, mario_markov11, you seem like a truly fascinating person (judging by what little I have seen), and the mere fact you listen to James is enough for me to like you. Since James is very unpopular it would be nice to be able to share thoughts about lyrics and the band, and discuss some things about it overally. If you want to, ofcourse.

I loved this album / and millionaires.
Tremendous Album. A change I loved, obviously commercially it wasn't a success but that doesn't matter to me. Beautiful powerful music.
The best band ever!
Great album, awesome song. Love these guys!

Yes, I'm alright, and if I'm not, I will be :) And still up for a chat with fellow James fans.
