Instant Replay is a great card flourish that allows you to juggle a playing card in between your hands. The move is credited to Paul Harris and can be found in his Art of Astonishment book series.

After 3 week practicing i can do the perfect Instant Replay, thanks a lot teacher!
@cutelittlebysam I used my old digital camera for this video. Seems like I didn't process the video with the right setting :( Hopefully I'll get it right next time!
For once in cardistry, i'm so glad that I had thought of that flip on my own. Practiced the back flip (180°), flip (360) and what I call a double flip (720°). Way easier to practice this move with a packet of a few cards, like 5 to 15. Believe me that's how I started with this as I couldn't really do it with one card. Then it naturally comes to you for the one card flip.
I find that practicing this trick intensely (over and over again, no breaks in between) and then taking a 5-minute break of doing other breaks helps a lot. I could only get it to land on the deck, sometimes not even oriented correctly (it was horizontal when the deck was vertical), about 2 times. After that break, I landed it twice in a row in a fairly good orientation. Practice and patience is key in cardistry.
@Leviticus360540 No wrist action at all. Its all fingers.
I feel like card tricks make you 20 billion times more attractive.
ehyongboba I love you
I watched this and practiced a bit and learned to get it down and finally worked it into my ambitious card routine on a double lift. I found if you shoot it alittle farther with more spin i can get it from face up reveal in my right hand to face down on the deck. Works great right before my closing trick. Thanks bud and keep uo the good work. You and jarek are awesome. Two thumbs up!!
I never heard of this, and suddenly, I can do it rightaway!!
@ilovefudge1541 yup, hand size shouldn't make much of a difference at all for this move.
- Asad
I remember learning to shoot the card with my righthand, so I came back to learn to shoot it with my left hand. It's amazing how much easier it is after watching this vid.
i practise a lot but it didnt work one time but i will not give up
:p
I tried it and I performed it perfectly at my very first attempt. I instantly felt like an outstanding pro, full of self-esteem, almost sure I'll nail it easily. Then I tried like 30 more times and none of them were any good... :D
Thank you Asad, you keep helping me!!
This is found in chapter 6 of close up kind of guy page 125. You can also see Paul Harris do it on one of the stars of magic videos think it's either two or three . Supposedly his sister can do it too.
If you are a righty then hold the deck in your left hand.
Actually the shooting is easy but the aiming is hard. Thanks for the tutorial its awesome.
You know what Asad I learnt this move while seeing David Blaine do that in that very video...And amazing tutorial!!!
Why is every tutorial you make so amazing?
wow, when I first see your comment, I thought Zach Muller commented, guest fast reading isn't too good
@DeckBoxMagic Blue Smith back. I'll do a review on them soon!
After a few minutes of erratic flips with one card, I found that flipping two cards stabilizes the flipping motion.
Ozaawaa Magic here: I finally can learn this thanks
Just discovered that while shooting with the right hand, turning slightly the wrist to the left makes the card land face up.
this move is very frustrating, i managed to get my right hand to jump the card to the deck, but i cant seem to even get the left hand which is holding the deck to shoot the card
That real method! Seems EASIER! I actually did it many times!!!
I love this move, so badass
what a great tut... ur so amazing asad.. i used shapeshifter color change first then i flicked back to the deck... thanks a lot asad... have a great day...
keep doing card floourishes!
@DeckAndContests I bow to you... You are amazing with such complex sleights. Love your molecule cut performance too! Keep it going :-)
One thing I've done consistently wrong with a lot of these flourishes is I would try to flick the card with my index finger instead of simply releasing the tension. It took some practice but shifting the action to my thumb to release was built on using the spring and the hot shot cut which have similar tension release techniques.
So consistent😊
David Blaine does this move in one of his tricks, he startsdoing it and then is like "I can do it REALLY FAST" and just flicks his wrists, then he's like "did you see that?" and the cards changed places
I have GOT to learn this
Thanks for the tut. I was always wondering why it is called instant replay. Instant because it is quick? Replay because is could be done again and again?
OMG the first card I picked up from my deck was the 3 of clubs... how did you get into my house and did an unbelievable magic trick on me?... (the card you use is the 3 of clubs)
i have the 3rd art of astonishment,i effing love it :D
@LuHuWei that's the charlier cut, there are a lot of tutorials for that move on youtube
I'm sooo inconsistent! My aim is all over the place D:
Any tips for getting the card to consistently spin 360 degrees?
Oh, I already knew this move and didn't know it =P Started experimenting after your tutorial for the deck flip =]
You're more comfortable doing it 'your way' because it's much easier than Paul Harris's obviously..
awesome move
after a day of practice i can do it ! thanks great tutorial
Thanks!!!! You're a very good magician
the very first time i did this, i nailed it...after a few times, i find this very hard to do lol.
@xITzJESUSx its called pirouette card spin, you'll be able to find it on youtube :)
You are a genius. How do you teach yourself tricks like this?
Bert Forster lol did you listen to his dialogue? He said he read it in a book called "The art of astonishment" and it's credited to Paul Harris
hey man, during your performance you forgot to say "look look...watch...look....watch watch....ok...look...look...now watch..." if you know what I mean :D you know somebody really likes these words while he's performing^^
@invisiblesleight its not his fault if u already know this.....u want new stuff go but a book
LIKE.. really liked this tut,, i love ur exclusive tuts.. its easy :D
nice tutorial, I enjoyed the last part of it too
Where the heck do u learn all this stuff man and how do u have time to practice?
@CalTamaDrummer Pretty much any deck will work for this :)
This looks so fantastic
Love your channel
this is a beast
I got the hang of using my right hand after a day's practice, but the left hand shooting is much harder...my index fingers are proportionally short (about a fingernail's length shorter than my ring finger) and I can't get enough leverage underneath when I'm holding a deck :/
I love David Blaine and I wanted to do this so bad, Thanks :)
Can you shoot 2 cards from the deck? If that is possible that would be awesome, and if any of you can do it, call it the instant double
it is possible. not sure bout the name though
@MagicDecks 23
@TheKandkodos go to amazon
Nice, great tutorial man I. love this move
Would you mind teaching different versions of double/triple lift? I think this is the most popular, simple but most difficult to master thing in those sleight of hand
11 years ago bruh
How good are you at cardistry now if you're still with us
Very cool!
Asad can you help? I've been practicing this move for like a year now and I still can't get that two card thing down. My problem is with the card in my left hand it always ends up face up when I want it face down. Or it just always falls down and I'm not able to catch it. Help?
dude , you're awesome
Good stuff.
can u do a tutorial for conjunction with the top shot
I've been getting better at this move. Thanks for the tutorial. Does the wrist have a part to play in this motion
Ideas: catch the card in a charlier or revolution cut
Already executed and overdone by cardists. with all the card switch/flip ever created. You're too late.
There’s a flourish called 360 Spider that does an Instant Replay but with a packet in between a Revolution Cut.
Dude you got skillz
when you started talking about david blaine and u did the double. it was the king of spades wich is david on that deck
very nice. do you know the superchange?
First time you don't need to pick up 52 cards while practicing a flourish
What deck was this? By the way I got the bee stingers because of your review and am really enjoying them. Thanks!
great trick love it..
@Miffani note taken :P
good work
You get that "famous maker" monitor on woot? I have the same one. The base sucks so bad. lol
this is so sickkk
Having trouble with the double switch, I usually get one to land correctly but not the other, any tips?
Thx!! love your in dept tutorial
Do you use a standard size deck in your videos. They look larger than mine, although I do have big hands :)
could you recommend a good deck for this move? plain bicycle, bee, plastic coated, linoid coated, stuff like that?
Does anybody have any tips on controlling the cards .mine flick all over place ?
amzing can u plzz do a tutorial for the werm
does anyone know hot to find paul harris instructions. i think his art of astonisment 3 is like 40 bucks on amazon.
Could you do a tutorial on how to spin a card on your middle finger?
really cool. thanks for the tutorial
thank a lot man
thanks
@DecksAndContests basically it's a single card areal
you need to use the index finger to create the tension
if your a righty, do you do this with your left hand then?
Do you have any advice for someone who is mixed handed?
I'm really struggling with this one. Any more practicing tips??
@nathanmmai Just apply some more pressure.
The only man that can dislike this video is the devil or Paul Harris Himself!
I have really small hands will I still be able to do it?
xD how did u do the move at 0:15
Do you ever break in your decks? Whenever you cut or dribble, it gives me the impression that the deck isn't broken in.
