I got a theory at the end of 6 we se haruto moving is legs at the same time that kiryu, so we will be able to control haruto in a future yakuza and help him to learn the truth about kiryu's dead, and who knows maybe we can fight kiryu as haruto.
Mother of an almost 2-year-old. He's just now started holding my hand to walk to and from the car. "So weak, so short-lived is the grip between our hands" is hitting pretty hard right now.
He may beat people up to a bloody pulp, stab them with a knife, smash chairs and billboards to their body, but He is still the best father figure to Haruka and Grandfather to Haruto! The ending scene of Yakuza 6 really killed me inside!
Calling it now. We're gonna get a future Yakuza title now that Ichiban's been given the torch by Kiryu where we get a substory with a young Haruto and it ends with Kiryu watching in the distance and smiling.
SPOILERS BELOW Even though this song is definitely about Kiryu and Haruto, something that I find beautiful in my own interpretation is that it could apply to both of his "kids" as well (Haruka and Daigo, though I'm sure he thinks about the rest of the Sunflower kids too), how he's watched the two of them grow up to become just as strong as the Dragon of Dojima himself in his own right. Although Haruka is no fighter, she's become an emotionally powerful woman and a strong mother, with a solid integrity and good morals. In many ways she's done things Kiryu struggles with with ease, and she's grown to become a strong-willed Daughter of Dragon of Dojima. As for Daigo, he's not as strong as Kiryu as their bouts have shown, but his skills as a leader have far surpassed what Kiryu could have hoped for either of them. Daigo serves, in a sense, to carry on not just the Tojo Clan which he received from Kiryu and his mother, but also Kiryu's own way of Yakuza, helping those in need above all else. Although it's taken some time, and Daigo's needed to be set straight at least once (Yakuza 4), he's become the leader the Tojo Clan needed. And even though he may have disappeared once again, the Dragon of Dojima will appear when his son needs his help, even if it isn't under the player's control.
Daigo is awesome and strong in his own right, Yakuza 5 and 6 were the worst times in his life, now he has to try to restructure the Tojo Clan (at the end of 6, haven't played 7 yet)

Thank you so much for your kind comment. I'm veyr happy to see there is still appreciation for my work. I don't want to sound conceited haha, but translation to me is also very something very creative (eg. how you want to phrase things and convey the meaning in English). And actually, the reason why I started is the same is yours. When I first became a fan of the series it really wasn't big and there weren't any translations anywhere, so I figured I had to make them myself with my limited Japanese. I first translated Machine Gun Kiss, just for myself to see the meaning. A few years later my Japanese had got a lot better, I started translating for RUclips and realised I had misunderstood a lot of the song as a beginner xD
I have to say, Kiryu's feelings during this song will always resonate with me on an emotional level, and even more knowing the meaning behind them. About two years ago I lost my first cat to a tumor in her brain. She was suffering and had to be put to sleep. About a year from then, my pet bird died. And now yesterday, my other cat had to be put down too, because he was old and had a heart attack. The pain that Kiryu feels is immense, I'm certain. He knows that Haruto, the closest thing he has to a grandson, will never see him again if he lets go. But at the same time, Kiryu knows that letting go is the best course of action, as Haruto and Haruka will both suffer more if he's involved in their lives. The pain of having to choose to let something go for the sake of protecting them... it's horrible. And it's a pain I understand intimately. So yes. I will fully admit that a 48-year-old Japanese man singing alone in a karaoke club about his barely even 4-month-old grandson is something I have ugly sobbed to in the shower trying to sing along to. This song will never _not_ move me now that I've been through that loss.
I'm just having sweat onmy eyes, but i realized he could be singing this after faking his death and after looking at the people in the orphanage for the last time.
Thank you so much for taking your time to do these translations! I'm still learning Japanese, so I can only make out a few sentences... and knowing the full meaning of the lyrics makes me love this song even more!
I can totally see haruto hearing stories of Kiryu from haruka and yuta as he grows up. I think it be cool to haruto later on as an adult and maybe he aspires to be like his father and grandfather and make his own definition of yakuza

I doubt Haruka and Yuta would want that for him. The yakuza world stole both of their father figures from them, and while Kiryu may have been a legendary Yakuza, he wasn't great to them because of that. It was because his gold heart and his determination to protect those that he considers family that made him special to them. There's no reason for Haruto to need to be taught the same lesson as Kiryu that status and respect means nothing if it's at the cost of family. That's why Kiryu has been trying to get away from the Yakuza world since Yakuza 3. I think it would mean so much more to Kiryu if he learned that Haruto was a hard working young man who wants to support his family instead of chasing a dream that only lead to pain and regret.

Does it have a double meaning in Japanese? I feel like the ‘before we know it’ line makes a lot more sense for the song’s theme too.
Not sure if we are using the same source, and this is merely a theory. I tried looking into this and I might know which one you are referring to. Romaji please??
What if haruto becomes the protagonist in future games
It'd be better if haruka, haruto, and yuta can just have a peaceful life like kiryu wanted to give them
Still better than Leona Lewis...
As I listen to this song, I imagine a plot for a future game that takes place many years from now, where Haruto has grown up to become the main character, and the plot revolves around his battle against the Tojo or another villainous group to protect Kiryu, who is by then an old, frail and fragile 80 year old.
Brrrrruh. How long til Haruto grows up and becomes the next Yakuza protagonist???
By the time he grows up I don't yakuza would exist anymore.
