Just to drive home Kakarot's point about the price for people not familiar with 40k: the CHEAPEST 40k kits are about $40 USD. Average price for a 2000pt "tournament standard" army is upwards of $600 USD. That's not counting the cost of paints, tools, terrain, etc. Starting my army with roughly 800pts of models given to me for free by a friend. Buying used models, 3D printing (which aren't tournament legal), and a kitbashed 30MM Alto used as a proxy, I've still spent somewhere between $300-$500 USD over the past two years to get my collection to just over 2000pts. Not planning on giving up 40k anytime soon, but I'm VERY excited for Gundam Assemble. I can't wait to build and paint some of those ships!
Just a bit of clarification, 3D printings per se tend to not be the ones that are forbidden, just the prints that are too close for comfort to GW’s existing models
Advice to people who wanna get into 40K tabletop, buy the models 2nd hand. There’s a lot of stuff that’s just glued together and grey so you don’t even have to strip the paint 😝
@@luckylucsontrue that, and sometimes when they are painted, they are painted with care, in a way that allow to directly reuse those… (More often being Necrons, Deathwatch, some well-known Space Marine chapters…)
a basic 2 figure starter box for Battletech is $30, Inner Sphere Lance/Clan Star boxes are $30/$40 each, main starter boxes such as Alpha Strike, A Game of Armored Combat, and the upcoming Mercenaries are around $60 and your getting a good number of pre assembled models ready to play out of the box
If Bandai brings their years of experience making G-Generations & SRW into the realm of pure table-top strategy, I think they could have a pretty fun game when they full release it. Actually, if they eventually went full Super Robot Wars-mode and made miniatures for other franchises that would be sincerely cool -- your Eureka Sevens, Code Gaesses, Evangelions, and quite a lot more. Also, since they're doing spaceships they could also include stuff like Cowboy Bebop and Space Battleship Yamato. This could become the Smash of table-top strategy games if Bandai can let it.
I feel that with the tabletop kits being on the cheap side, it really wouldn't be that difficult for Bandai (Or even some third party) to put out an alternate ruleset for army-scale play. If the line does well and gains some traction I'm sure Bandai would be more inclined to repack and sell army building boxes of grunts and ships and such
the problem is there will be so few. and there's no guarantee Bandai will release many. It could be a couple sets, it could be a massive new thing, but I am not getting my hopes up.
News for those in the US Gundam X is on Tubi streaming service. Finally get to watch this! Hopefully more Gundam will come to the service if we all watch .
Gundam Assemble won’t necessarily be competing with 40K as much as it would be with Battletech, CAV, or Heavy Gear Blitz. It definitely hits the fan strings that all Gundam fans and Wargaming Communities have been thirsting for. I am excited, but I’m a huge fan of the UC stories. Particularly the between 0079-0093. I would like to see ways to campaign and run a squad, company, or battalion and recreate my favorite battles and/or a Gihrens Greed type situation.
I'm still annoyed that there isn't an HG1/144 Ootori Striker yet, especially as an option set. Also the Gundam TTG is still technically cheaper than Warhammer's squad based game, Kill Team.
I definitely think it would be cool if Bandai continued to create the mobile suit minis regardless of the success of the table top game. Given people’s love of painting fixed pose minis, combined with the generally Low price of gunpla and Bandai not being GW. they could make a bunch of extra money if gunpla builders add one or two to a purchase of a full on kit as paint trainers.
The Gunpla game has me calling it Gundamtech based on the Battletech game. Which makes more sense to me, as Battletech usually works around 4-6 units per side (sometimes more, but usually not much), and Battletech is primarily a mech game. That and I play Battletech and refuse to touch Warhammer 40K.
If the miniature game is 20 dollar a set I can't see myself collecting. Sure it's cheaper than Warhammer, but almost anything are cheaper than warhammer. I can have a whole 1/144 tank fleet for 20 dollars. Overall, the Gunpla price hike is going to hurt a lot.
$20 for a set and a card deck considering the standard price for yugioh deck (for example ) is $25 to $55 canadian so you're not just getting a deck but also a team of 3 miniatures for a separate game that's honestly not too bad. but it's up to you.
@@viperson9818 Bandai did say that some not necessarily all kits could see a 100 to 400 yen increase but US prices are set on other factors that aren't necessarily affected by that
Major one ups for that Jump Ultimate Stars rep when you were talking about crossovers! Finally got around to playing that game and oh man is it fun. Also, Kamille held a grudge lol.
The gundam minis are so cool, but I just don’t like painting, which was one of the reasons I got into gunpla in the first place. The pre-colored plastic just makes it more convenient. I amazing getting all the paint for the minis would be pretty expensive too.
The big question I see with Assemble is how the team building is done. I can’t see it not being point based when the Zaku I and Archangel are both models, but the battlefield size doesn’t seem conductive to allowing massed grunt suits. I’m guessing something like Frostgrave/Stargrave where it’s point based (where you spend points on both base units and equipment to upgrade them beyond the barest basics), there’s a fixed squad size cap, and players can recruit rabble units for free to fill in missing slots. 23:37 And here I thought Wing’s popularity was largely concentrated in the west.
I think the stats of the suits wont really take into consideration the power scale between suits and or series, Infact i think the game rules will be very arcadey to allow a Zaku 1 to go up against a Freedom or unicorn. Think something like Battletech Alpha strike cards. Very simplified, very quick to play, not that many special rules.
the table top game looks more like a gundam battletech than anything else. Funny when i was a kid my dad like Battletech and I would compare things in gundam. He thought the Quebely would be unfair in a game when I explained the load out with mind controlled flying drones armed with clan mini PPCs that had a most of map range
I just want to paint miniatures but god dang they are way too expensive. Hopefully Bandai can make their gundam one somewhat affordable. Can’t wait to see a miniature only set price ideally less than $25 for 3 since a mobile suit squad is 3.

when I first saw the words Gundam Assemble I thought Bandai was somehow incorporating Gundam Ensemble figures into the new Gundam TCG but it being Gundam Hammer instead made more sense.
10:01 I’ve been a Gundam fan since the early 2000’s before Warhammer 40K. When it comes to Warhammer I mostly stick to the books but have looked into the models just to build but because of the price I never bothered were as Gundam I’ve got a lot of Gunpla because the kits were always cheaper.
There have been hints that the 3rd figure in the Starters are random. And hints of there being a gacha set up for some of the figures. While it might have been them discussing selling them from vending machines. The translation is... odd.
They could allways go the same route battletech went with its salvage boxes. Blind boxes sold either piecemeal or as entire display boxes *Shrugs* Wouldnt put it past bandai to turn this game into a gacha game. I mean thats how CCGs work and since when has bandai ever cared for customer convinience? XD
That Assemble like seems fun, but personally I hoped for something like a 1/400 or 1/500 scale line, with mass production units, a few hero units, and most specifically the gigantic units! If I was counting correctly, the Neo Zeong in 1/500 would be about as tall as the MG Nu Gundam, including the funnels. Much more reasonable than... whatever the HG is.
So as a table top gamer I can say doing cross universe skirmish game won't get the feel of the different universes. UC and CE should be full a large scale game closer to 40k IBO and X should be more mid size skirmish game where you maybe have 12 models on the board. Wing and 00 could be something different with either being competitive or cooperative PVE like kingdom death Monster Witch and G I'm not too sure how to do the one on style thing on short notice. Nail them separately before combining them so the different suits and characters can shine. Also don't do mono pose minis.
Disagree somewhat with the OYW scale of engagements. Most of the super large engagements like the battle of loum or operation odessa where the exception in the OYW, the big war turning battles can be counted on 2 hands. However most action happened between smaller units like what we see in 8th MS team, Blue destiny or in war the pocket, where its actually more 4 vs 4 or 5 vs 5. So not saying you couldnt have big conflicts, only that the majority of combat was between smaller formations especially because mobile suits where such powerhouses in that conflict that dedicating large army formations was nonsensical when 4-5 MSs could wipe out entire military bases. That being said i would have loved a UC/OYW focus instead of a mishmash... its the most grounded and militaristic setting and has more then enough mobile suits to keep collectors going for a while. And most importantly the power scale is not completly bonkers like in most other gundam formats.
Wing already got a kit for this campaign.... They also need to finish the new versions of the G-Unit HGs like Hydra Gundam and Gundam Griepe. RG Wing Gundam Zero(TV/Proto Zero). G Gundam is getting a HG Bolt Gundam for P-Bandai in 2025.
Personally, if we had to get anything tabletop related for Gundams, I’d prefer a traditional tabletop RPG but this is still cool! I would also like to add in regards to both the card game and the figures, where’s the love for Gundam OO? I’m sure a lot of you guys are getting tired of me talking about this, but it feels like they’re purposely trying to either ignore it outright or just leave the rest of us out of whatever they have done! I would be even more inclined to play either one if I had an Exia figure or card.
Less 40K, more Kill Team. If the game support up to 6-7 unit on each side, and has some interesting game mechanics, it might be interesting. Shame that it does not look like that are looking into the large scale warfare though.
Based on the comments here, I wonder what those poll results would look like if Gundam Assemble was one of the available options. I know that's what I'd vote for.

I heard Gaza-C was getting reprinted but its still completely out of stock everywhere except like South East Asia from what I can tell, does anyone have more info on this?
Assemble could be a fruitful, yet safe gamble for Bandai. Its definitely something people have longed for considering the community who've created their own homebrew games. Im a huge wargaming fan so I know this is much needed. I lost interest when it was announced as a skirmish board game, and not a wargame. Its the safer bet, no doubt, but Star Wars Legion took off because of the IP recognition, and Gundam could have easily done the same. Its just another Battletech if it prospers, but I just wanted more. Ill happily follow its progress, and if worse comes to worse its another model line for builders haha. Wow they couldnt help but shoehorn in the Ariel, kinda desperate for that beginners set.
@@dhanu_4539 I’m pretty sure that on paper the Gelgoog surpassed the 78 in performance but amuro was such a great pilot it didnt really matter in the latter stages of the war.
Forbes article about anything mecha-related? That has to be Mr Ollie. I need to read the full article to get an opinion, but he is very, VERY, well read and educated on all matters Mecha. So he probably has several reasons to back up why what he said.
So bandai has decided to compete with GW with the plastic crack market. I mean there's gunpla....but still. People talking about bandai trying entice 40k with the new table top, but its more like attracting gundam fans who got into 40k, since 40k is actually popular in Japan and alot of its players also collect gunpla.
I think being skeptical of it being multi-universe if fair enough. What if you just want to play a OYW war game? I guess you probably would still be able to with friends but I don't know if tournaments would do that.
Haha I read the Forbes article and was like.... What are they talking about lol I think its going to be a success but I wish everything was scaled correctly.
You think that's bad? Wait until you read the article from TheGamer in which the author somehow thinks that tying Gunpla to a tabletop game will change how he views them. He also seems to use the terms Gundam and Gunpla interchangebly and says, and I will quote him on this : "I enjoy Gundam because it’s specifically not a wargame." At the end of the article, he admits that he as never watch any Gundam series and that he wants Gundam to just be Gundam. Just Google TheGamer Gundam Assemble and read the article for yourself and probably facepalm at the hypocrisy.
@@ARMsMasterlol Gundam is literally about war. these are war machines. The Ground War sets have tanks. there's a Guntank (emphasis on tank the war weapon). what was that writer on.
I lost a lot of interest in G-Quacks after hearing that it's apparently about some kind of underground MS bloodsport instead of a more proper large-scale conflict like in UC/CE/00/etc.
6:19 - Are you shitting me? Something tells me alot of people are going to do this all the time. Have you not watch a single episode of Yu-Gi-Oh? So many nerds love living the fantasy of summoning monsters straight from the cards they play. And now thanks to Battletech Gundam 40k (aka Gundam Assemble), they can recreate that fantasy with Gundam.
My question still stands: Why make tabletop miniatures? Hire a team of 10 people to make a digital ruleset. Release it for free. Maybe sell a hardcopy of the rules with artwork. Perhaps release unit rules once a week to keep the game fresh? Run with the 1/144 line in a squad based game. No paint barrier, and lower cost compared to 40k. Boom profit because people now have another reason to buy more Gunpla. No need to redirect manufacturing when you are already behind over-seas. If ya want to make stuff just for the tabletop, sell official 1/144 terrain at gunpla prices?
I am pretty sure the concept of miniatures is more familiar than model kits in the West just like TCG. this can be used as a gateway to Westerners to get more familiar with the Gundam series and maybe into other merch
😅The 1 board game map looked like GBO2 map lol thats cool. wish they take Sd Battlers app to the usa looks so good 4 rpg app. Chinas gundam looks kool 😊 so many awesome gunpla rockon🎉
The price for the models is about the same as for Catalyst games Battletech boxes, give and take a few dollars. What im afraid of is that they are turning the game into a Gacha box game, with only the starter kits having set lineups. First of all Gacha is very popular with asian companies, second.... its bandai... i dont trust bandai not to f*ck up in some way or form for the sake of more profit XD Also i do agree a bit with that article about mashing gundam universes together, mostly because of the sheer staggering difference in power levels between the series. How is chars Zaku 2 ever able to keep up with the Unicorn gundam? Hell.. how is any suit from Iron orphans going to damage phase shift armor from SEED? And how is anything from SEED gonna damage nano laminate armor from Iron orphans? XD Wich leads me to believe that the rules will nerf/buff or completly ignore the lore in alot of cases. Though ofcourse final judgement is as allways reserved when we actually have the rules in our hands. My guess though? It will be a simple point based system that isnt that detailed.. think of "this suit has 4 offense and 6 defense" or some such. Personally would have preferred a UC/OYW wargame instead.
10:41 Huh, actually I think I know who wrote that Forbes article (well, there's only one guy writing for Forbes who knows about Gundam anyways, but I do think he has some bad takes).
Lets be honest. G Gundam has a cult following and is generally loved but it aint as popular as Gundam Wing which I think is only behind SEED and UC in terms of popularity. So of course there will be differences how bandai treats them.

Be cool if there was a ttrpg to go with assemble.
THE EMPEROR PROTECT... WAIT... I MEAN "UNIVERSE!!"
I'm incredibly excited for Gquuuuuux, but it's because I'm an Evangelion fan first and Gundam fan distant second.
Any update on the live action Gundam movie?
that's probably on indefinite hold
@ what makes you say that? When I google it it says production starts 2025
@@Ally.Cat.252 I say that because it has been a thing for some time now and has changed directors and production companies. If it was going well then it could've easily been out by now. Also, just because it states that it's starting production this year doesn't mean it will actually get anywhere. I would be surprised if it ever gets completed.
see gundam snek:
"MY EYES!!!"
Gundam wing was the reason why I got in to anime and to gundam In the first place 😎👍
how does ichiban kuji work and where can i buy from?
two balls together
When did a grunt suit gain the same or better performance to the Rx-78, and which one was it?
Gelgoog probably.
@Jan_Iedema what about armour It isn't Luna titanium right? It the gelgoog sufficiently fast enough to overcome that?
@@dhanu_4539 I’m pretty sure that on paper the Gelgoog surpassed the 78 in performance but amuro was such a great pilot it didnt really matter in the latter stages of the war.
@@Jan_Iedema I see, I thought it would be much later after the one year war. Thanks
I guess you probably would still be able to with friends but I don't know if tournaments would do that.
well the SEED Freedom Foundation party is hilariously called by the fandom as the "NTR Party" as in poor Kira got cucked.
With how impossible it its to google for Gundam Assemble I am sceptical how successful it will be
What do you mean? When I type in Gundam Assemble into Google, the Bandai Hobby site for Gundam Assemble is the 3rd results in the search.
I need the sinanju and kshatriya models aaaaa
Why they still holding out on MG TV wingzero?
probably because it would look to similar to the MG Proto Zero that most people wouldn't know it's a new kit.
Jump Ultimate Stars *FOR THE WIN*
❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Ah rats I thought this was a teaser for a RG Wing Zero TV version good lordy
My two favorite hobbies… oh no my money is gone
Lord please let them have a Gogg mini please
Gun looks like straight out destiny
I lost a lot of interest in G-Quacks after hearing that it's apparently about some kind of underground MS bloodsport instead of a more proper large-scale conflict like in UC/CE/00/etc.
Gquxx needs to be on screen to be exciting.
Isnt it gundam assemble old game in japan?
Won't it also be unicorns 15th anniversary this year?
If they dont shell out RG Kshatriya then I might as well not expect anything.
At least the Chancey is cute 😢
Only disappointing part of Assemble so far is the scale of those battleships...
Zaku type space marine 😅😅😅
😅The 1 board game map looked like GBO2 map lol thats cool. wish they take Sd Battlers app to the usa looks so good 4 rpg app. Chinas gundam looks kool 😊 so many awesome gunpla rockon🎉
Bandai should remake the OO kits 2.0 Hg. And Mg
Edit:DON'T YA DARE TURN INTO PREMIUM BANDAI DAMMIT
10:49 bro has not played SD Gundam G Generations XD
Or even Super Robot Wars.
..................why did it take this long?
The price for the models is about the same as for Catalyst games Battletech boxes, give and take a few dollars. What im afraid of is that they are turning the game into a Gacha box game, with only the starter kits having set lineups. First of all Gacha is very popular with asian companies, second.... its bandai... i dont trust bandai not to f*ck up in some way or form for the sake of more profit XD
Also i do agree a bit with that article about mashing gundam universes together, mostly because of the sheer staggering difference in power levels between the series.
10:41 Huh, actually I think I know who wrote that Forbes article (well, there's only one guy writing for Forbes who knows about Gundam anyways, but I do think he has some bad takes).
interested in gundam assemble...
Lets be honest. G Gundam has a cult following and is generally loved but it aint as popular as Gundam Wing which I think is only behind SEED and UC in terms of popularity. So of course there will be differences how bandai treats them.
