I totally agree with you. Negan saw himself in Lydia in a way and wanted to protect her. I’m kinda sad that we didn’t see much of their friendship in s11.

I think this is why Ive come to love Season 9 and 10 over others. These seasons feel emotionally hard hitting in a way they hadn’t felt in a long time. Now, Im not saying Negan is perfect but he is a survivor. I think he saw that in Lydia. She is doing everything she can to make her way through this forest with a psychotic mother. For anyone who has had an abusive relationship like Lydia and Alpha, this resonates.
