In the video I talk about my childhood in post-communist Eastern Europe and what it has taught me about the art of noticing, about mindfulness and about being grateful for what you have.
I then share a chapter where I bake a cake for someone I love deeply. It's the thoughtful gestures that say I love you the loudest.

Please note that I made her chocolate buttercream recipe, for this cake but halved the ingredients as I don't like too much chocolate frosting on my cake.
I then share a chapter about appreciating where you live. And learning to thrive where you've been planted.
And the last chapter is where I have a go at hand stitching on a cold rainy evening and talk about how noticing our curiosity can lead us to stumble upon our passions.

❤❤ Lovely video. Do you speak to your daughter in Romanian? and how do you cope with the feeling that your family from Romania is not seeing your daughter frequently? I live abroad too, I don't have kids yet but sometimes this makes me think.
Thank you so much for watching. I do try and speak Romanian with my daughter, but I don't do it full time. It's a mix of English and Romanian, and sadly the English part is the predominant part. But she knows words and a little Romanian nursery song, and I'm trying to get better. It's hard to have kids abroad when your support system is far, far away. It often times means you're on your own. But FaceTime calls always help, and visits are that more special. And because you don't know any different, you crack on with it, and it just becomes your life. Hope this helps. x

In all seriousness, this is great advice. I heard from a yoga instructor that we are so busy taking steps forward that we don't take the time to ground ourselves in the present. Learning to appreciate the present moment is a skill that I have been learning over the past few months. It really is life changing when you are able to live with a grateful heart.
