- This Toyota GT86 modified with a HKS Turbo kit has featured with Overtake before, but this time it has new Aero modifications from Verus engineering as well as some tweaks to the ecu to produce 320bhp. We go for a drive with the owner to get his review on how this tuned GT86 drives and what it's really like to own.
The Toyota GT86 (Scion FRS, Subaru BRZ) is a fantastic drivers car from the factory, with a great balance allowing sideways drift action with it's factory fit LSD. However, petrol heads are always wanting more and this GT86 has been modified with a HKS Turbo kit, now producing a reliable 320bhp. This power increase is coupled with handling improvements including Tein coilovers, new lightweight alloy wheels shod with Michelin PS4 tyres and an aero package from Verus engineering including front splitter and rear diffuser. We go in-depth to discuss this modified GT86, including the infamous torque dip and equal length manifold and exhaust mods to cure this. We find out what's possible with these cars and just how incredible that Turbo power and flutter is on a car so light and agile.

Another fantastic video Chris, thankyou. I hope you still have your 205 XS. Your Nov 20 video inspired me to buy my 205 1.1, I adore it and can't wait to drive it again in April.
Nice to hear about your acquisition, I do indeed still have my 205 and am actually planning on getting some minor work done on it before the Spring, it will feature again I'm sure! Thanks for watching!
Great to see new work coming out - top quality as always! That is one well sorted GT86! Hope 2022 brings more opportunities for you. Do bring us along if you work on the 205
Thanks so much! More content coming, keep an eye out! Good idea about the 205, it sits at the heart of this channel and will be fun to document.
Amazing production quality
Much appreciated!
Super tidy little hachiroku! As a daily tuner, how usable and drivable is it? Did the clutch have to be upgraded at all? And also, did the aero have a tangible feeling to it at speed?
Which blow off valve do you have? Sounds amazing!
Great video! Made me sub 🤣
Any idea about the brand of rear lights he has here? They’re not the Valentis he had on the video from a few years back!
These look menacing! Also, does the owner have an Instagram avcount?
is it hard to drive with a aftermarket clutch?
Nicely done. So regarding suspension he’s on Tein flex A? And what is the short shifter kit he’s using. Looks like it’s nice and notchy. Sorry if these were mentioned, just listening at work. Thanks 🙂
I think its a cae ultra short shifter. I personally have the irp and its awesome i do recommend either of them
Not sure about his suspension
how is your cabin so quiet?
You would English lol where did you get the work done? Or where would you recommend?
How's the fuel economy? I'm currently tuning with my HKS GTIII-RS turbo in my 86 but it's still on the base map. I had about a 1/4 tank this morning and drove about 18km total today without going into positive boost pressure and I'm at around 1/8 now or less with the tank light on. Average km/l is 8.8. How is yours and can this be improved? as I get revisions done as the snow melts enough for me to do logging again.
Lastly, what's your wastegate setting at? Mine is at the default 0.85 to 0.9 bar. Did you lower yours? I want to make sure nothing goes boom.
Thank you.
I get on average anywhere between 27 to 29mpg but it varies massively. I also have functioning aero that produces downforce which brings the economy down. Mine has a custom map on it which may explain the better fuel economy.
I believe my waste gate is at 7psi which is like 0.5 bar?
@@alexpreston4588 I see. Part of my problem was my previous tuner. I got a new tuner at CSG but we're on pause until I can do some preventative maintenance. Fuel economy averages 9 to 10 km a liter depending on season etc. I haven't got it dyno'd yet but I want to make sure the tune is finished.
You should also change dif, clutch and transmission if you put a boost..
Diff and transmission are absolutely fine at 320 flywheel hp
Stock ECU?
Are the alloys 1av or japan racing?
Hi, i'm not the owner but i'd say they are neither one of those but instead Rota Grid.
@@Tazka thanks for the reply,I was buying some and ended up with the 1av's,the three are pretty much the same te37 reps anyway
@@user-sk4wf3ve6z Yeah it's really hard to tell the difference between those two. The only thing giving rota's off is the max-weight (690kg) embossed on the outside of the wheel. 1av's don't have this from what i've seen. Good looking wheels though! They look good on almost any car.
Great video! I would love to contact the owner for a few questions regarding the suspension setup, what's his IG?
Thanks! It's alexp_racing
@@OvertakeFilms Thanks!
not the reps💀
Who tuned it? Where did you get the turbo installed?
Probably Abbey Motorsport or Fensport
Sorry, missed this. I believe the work was carried out by Abbey Motorsport
