  • Ride onboard with Matt Cresci to his first professional race victory. 20+ drivers with over $100,000 in prize money on the line. Matt ended up 2nd in the overall event, with a 1st place and 3rd place, which netted him $30,000, so thank you to Mazda Motorsports!

      I just drove the new tire model on iracing for the first time. Pretty garbage LOL, like driving on ice skates.
      Managed a 1:39.6 but that was pretty much tapped out...

    that was sick - i agree with the finger wave that guy seemed desperate and dangerous and was he still expecting you to let off when he put his hand out? lmao then he lost another position xD

    What was the extent of the track limits violation? Was there a position that was gained when he left the track limits??

    • @MattCresciRacing
      @MattCresciRacing  5 лет назад +2

      Hi Ben,
      Yes the track limits violation took place on the run up to the Corkscrew, 8min52sec in this video. All four wheels over the painted line, in order to pass the lead car. The driver's meeting went over a strict track limits enforcement for this event, so it looks like our race director stuck to his guns on that.
      I was happy with 2nd place considering where I started, but as I pulled into the pits they pointed me to victory lane and I had no idea why. Originally we thought it was because of the contact that happened at 8min58sec, which would have been unfair, because that driver was not involved with the contact. But it was revealed later that it was a track limits violation.
      My guess is the race director caught it on whatever track cameras he had access to, I doubt anyone got on the radio during the race to protest that move. Especially considering the only car that likely had a problem with it was the one that got spun from behind, and he probably had more things to worry about after that anyways.

      Matt Cresci Racing thanks for the great explanation! Great driving, I love watching this series, I run spece30 so I'm a big fan of any spec racing especially Global MX-5

      @@BenFreedmanRacing You bet! Unfortunately couldn't find the business partners and sponsors to do it again next year so car is now up for sale, and I will likely return to Spec Miata in NASA Norcal so may see you around.

    I hate it when someone throws up dirt and dust, or makes a cloud of tire smoke when spinning out. You can't see, and if you slow the idiots behind you will run you over. It seems to me you could have used second gear on the end of the front straight, getting off of that corner. Congratulations on the win, if I had a choice Laguna would be the track I'd like to race. I was there in the 70s before it was reconfigured for a motorcycle race. The corkscrew is an epic section.
