@@rdavidr - Oh you sure were! That was really amazing playing! A friend of mine (and my ex-band's guitarist) said the same yesterday about your 'Ravioli' video 😀
A few people have said it, but it merits repeating...first of all, that transition into playing along with the background music was like a magic trick for my ears. I was blown away. Secondly, I was really digging your playing on this video. I know it was supposed to be about the set...and I'm diggin' that too, but that groove you were playing is some of the coolest playing I've heard on your channel. Thanks for putting this video together. Really top notch!
I too have a Standard 22/13/16 in Gold Strata. Scored a killer deal on reverb. Came as a kit with a Standard Aluminum snare drum. 1969 original hardware.
The drum is great and all but I could just listen to Dave play over easy listening for days. I now have a sudden urge to build the world's tallest elevator to nowhere just so I can hire Dave to make the music for it, lol.
Hang on Ludwig, Zildjian and Remo and no Ringo Starr chops? How did you resist the urge? Oh yeah RUclips copyright laws 😂 I can't believe you got a matching floor tom so quickly. A true gift from the drumming Gods. In all honesty that is one glorious kit.
Gotta' love a story with a happy ending! I still use my BEAT UP AND ABUSED, 1970 Ludwig Standard kick and toms. They've been re-wraped twice but still sound great. There is magic in their mahogany/poplar/mahogany construction. For best results...TUNE EM' LOW! Enjoy! : )
Dude, your playing has gotten so much tighter over the past year. Somebody’s been shedding! And the much commented-upon transition at 3:44 - pure style! Thanks for the great vids!
I'm working on a Ludwig kit myself. The seller said it was a Fab 4 kit but from what I have been able to find that would be a 22" bass drum kit. Mine is more of a downbeat set with a 20" bass drum. He also said it was classic maple. Yet it is a 3 ply shell which would be Legacy Maple. The wrap is similar to yours except it is called Oyster Black Pearl not Black Oyster Pearl. I am replacing the pole mounted tom holder with a Ludwig Arch system. Why do drummers always over tighten the pole mounts? I am glad mine came complete as all I have to do is clean it up and replace a few worn parts and heads. :)
I bloody feel ya! I remember my excitement when I managed to find a matching 8 and 10 inch toms to my 87 premier apk.. the moonrock finish is next to impossible to find!
I’ve never before heard David giggle with utter joy like when he first took out that tom and looked at it. That was a day-brightening thing to watch after a long week.
What~!!!! SHUT THE DOOR!!!! Sick kit! Sick playing buddy!!!!! Wow!!!!! That's one of my most favorite groves I've seen you play!!!!!!! love it!! Congrats on finding the FT too!
I too did the same myself with a red cortex kit a few years ago.i had a 14x22,9x13 &18x18. I was looking for 16x16 forever it seemed. Tough color to find these days..was ecstatic when I finally found the 16. Congrats on a sweet kit!👍
I've got a 1969 4 pc. kit of "Whitehall" drums exact color of the Bass drum below the counter {left of U haul box} . Tiger Eye was what they called it . medium grade shells back then. 16 inch floor and 20 by 16 bass drum !! good to see that kick drum on your vid. love your vids. THX
to me, this video shows the essence of you as a drummer - a perfect showcase of your skill, and your joy in playing drums. i'm grateful to you for sharing this performance.
Я как зачарованный смотрю ваше видео о барабанах! Благодарю вас за великолепный контент! Вы мотивировали меня самому заняться ударными! Спасибо вам! I'm mesmerized by your video about drums! Thank you for the great content! You motivated me to do my own drumming! Thank you!
You end up paying out the A for the vintage floor toms. Hope you got a good deal. Considering you got the rest of the kit for cheap, I guess you did alright overall. I'd keep it. It's way cool.
Gorgeous drums and top-shelf drumming! This has been my favorite channel on YT for years now 😎 Keep up the great work rdavidr - a lot of drummers live vicariously through you!
Love the sound and look of this kit. And that groove is sick af. I had a Zimgar snare drum from the 50s/60s (maybe 70s? lol) and the wrap on that thing is super close to this. Always loved those strata type wraps, especially the real oddball color combos
Rdavidr please can you do a video of a massive drum kit with all your kits or at least 3 of them to make one massive kit. Please 🙏 everyone is waiting for this. 🙏 thank you
RUclips should add 1 view count for every time I re-watched this video cause those grooves were absolute 🔥🔥🔥 dude that double bell pattern was so dope 👌
Okay, now who has a 12" tom 👀
Free Drum Set Maintenance Course:
www.drumeo.com/rdavidr
what was that first back ground music @3:44 ?
What about the matching snare? ALSO what’s the story behind that ‘pistol mic’?! 🤔
I have a lemon strata set, 12-13-16 toms and a few years ago I picked up a 14 floor tom in gold strata but I'm not sure I'm ready to give it up.
Could u do a video in the beat u play at 4:03 ish
I do, but of course I don’t want to break up my kit lol.
came to see the complete kit.... stayed for those jammmmmmssss.
Same
Same
yesss. David slayed that track
he came a loooong since he started the channel
IS NOBODY GOING TO TALK AB HOW HE SYNCHED UP THE BACKGROUND MUSIC AND JUST STARTED PLAYING ALONG TO IT SEAMLESSLY???
😏
@@rdavidr smoothest transition of the year!!!
Of course! But you beat me to it, colin! :-))
That was fucking dope
I thought the same thing!!!
oh God I wasn't ready for 3:44
idk If I was either lol
@@rdavidr - Oh you sure were! That was really amazing playing! A friend of mine (and my ex-band's guitarist) said the same yesterday about your 'Ravioli' video 😀
That moment at 3:44 where he joins the sweet background music. Well done! Fun stuff.
I don't know if I've ever seen you this happy before, that Ludwig is a treasure!
Definitely!

I agree...This has been my favorite of everything he’s played. The kit made him do it! 😜🥁
Made me start wondering how much he'd charge to play on a track. Probably more than I could afford by the sound of that groove.
I agree, great groove.
It Is Cool.
Yes it was! Fantastic playing as well.
More than the kit I LOOOOOOOVE that Oriental ride. That thing sounds sweet!
Its actually a crash that Im using as a ride. The other cymbal is a ride that im using as a crash lol
rdavidr Oriental Crash of Doom! A great cymbal.
I was gonna ask what the left side cymbal was. 20" bounce ride?
@@jacobcooperlong yes! At least that's what the description says
The kit looks and sounds great! What’s the weight of the Crash of Doom? Is it the standard weight of a 22” ?
I too have a Standard 22/13/16 in Gold Strata. Scored a killer deal on reverb. Came as a kit with a Standard Aluminum snare drum. 1969 original hardware.
The Standard Aluminium snares are honestly better sounding versions of acros. Such an underrated line by Ludwig
@@stevelewis2080 I have an Acrolite and a Standard. I like them both.
2:11. That is the face of a happy man right there.
Just like a kid on Christmas Day 😁 love the enthusiasm.
You are truly expanding as a drummer. Very proud to see you achieve excellent drumming. The Cymbal ambidextrous at the end 👏👏👏
That laugh when he finally saw the tom is so relatable. New gear complete!
Really nice groove dude!
The drum is great and all but I could just listen to Dave play over easy listening for days.
I now have a sudden urge to build the world's tallest elevator to nowhere just so I can hire Dave to make the music for it, lol.
rDavidr is doing his happy dance.
That double bell grove was pretty dope, I'm gunna steal that one.
Looking a Man so happy to found the drums he was looking for made my day
Ugh, it’s like your soul is complete whenever you find that missing vintage drum you’re looking for! Congrats man! Also, those cymbals sound 👍
The kit is really cool, but that playing is killing.
Enjoy! : )
Killing the Songo vibe! Again, thank you for hanging out on the podcast!

I still want that two up/two down Premier XPK in rosewood finish that I fell hard for back in 1996.
You look sooooo glad! And even more while playing. This kit’s giving you wings and taking you higher and higher. Cheers!
Bro him laughing when he opened up made me smile for no reason. I guess just seeing him happy made me happy congrats mate.
When David giggles like a kid getting a new toy, I hit like.
I’ve never before heard David giggle with utter joy like when he first took out that tom and looked at it. That was a day-brightening thing to watch after a long week.
this is honestly one of the coolest drum related videos i’ve seen in forever, keep it up dave!!!

1:42 - LOL! The lamp shade on the box turns into a floor tom! Neat! :-))
Whoa whoa whoa a Constantinople and a crash o doom? We’re gonna need to talk about those. Killer setup
4:36 that bell grove is SICK!!

That groove across both cymbals, particularly your left hand, oooosh! 😍
To see how happy that floor tom made you, made my day! Glad the kit is complete for now. Sounds so good!
The only thing better than how that kit looks is how tight that groove is
This is one of the best sounding and coolest looking kits I've seen on your channel. Sick playing too!
Man, this a really happy video.
David's laugh and the permormance.
Happy for you, man.

They sound great. I have a similar Ludwig Standard kit I bought several months ago and gigged all summer.
Actually David, I can tell how happy you are to get that drum. That's the first time I've heard you play like that - jammin' out. Way to go man!!!
that transition from the background music into playing on the kit was really smooth
congrats!!! that's a helluva find! 3:44 magic!!!
I absolutely fell in love with that wrap on the last video. It looks absolutely gorgeous!
That’s awesome man! I’m excited for ya. Made my day! I’ve been looking for an 18” floor Tom for my 68 Ludwig blue oyster pearl set for years.
Best groove I have heard yet. Bravo & Congrats for finding the tom.
I want Ludwigs like this so bad...
playing to the music on the background. great touch. kudos on the find!
Awww I’m so happy for you! Brilliant! 😂
That transtition to the jamming thooooo. Bloody legend.

Restored a old gold strata wrap standard set 3 or 4 years ago.great set with those 3 ply shells.
That's awesome glad you found it, prolly one of the coolest looking wraps.
Yes! I'm so happy for you David!
I have a Ludwig Standard ride and crash that would be proper for that kit.
Ok that was a dope play through. I love you just started playing along with the background music. Not expected.
Mannn @rdavidr your skills have come so far. I've been watching you for about a year maybe 2 and your drumming has come soooo far. Mad props man!
That is pure sixties that kit . Expecting to see ringo be hind it... had to PS love the Latin vibe
The whole drum set and how you got it is a Cinderella story! Awesome kit!
That kit looks insanely good
you can feel the excitement in his drumming, that's awesome!
Your playing has really improved since the last time I checked your channel. Congrats!
Bro, you've clearly been working on your chops! Holy sh!t
background music became the jam music????? probably my favorite youtuber rn
These videos are what is pushing me more and more towards being a Ludwig fan.
My kit that I had was a 7 pc double bass. 12, 13, 16,18 inch toms and two 22 inch bass drums with matching snare.
Gorgeous drums and top-shelf drumming! This has been my favorite channel on YT for years now 😎
Keep up the great work rdavidr - a lot of drummers live vicariously through you!
Very cool! Glad you perseverance paid off. They look and sound amazing!
Congrats! I looked for a second matching floortom for my kit for 18 years until I found one on Ebay!!
Sounds good. That was a cool beat you were playing. That K Constantinople sound amazing too
I love the Ludwig Standard logo on the front of the bass drum head. 😎
It's my birthday. just a ♥ from rdavidr would make me soooo happy 😊
Loved the video and how you joined the music :-) happy you found this tom
Kit sounds great!! grats on the reunion of these parts hope the 12 shows but you got the main part and that's what matters..great jam transition..!!
Sick groove. Killer chops.
Loving the K Constantinople Bounce! Love those rides as crashes
That transition was actually so damn cool I’d call it inspirational!
I feel like you've been practicing. Your playing feels more confident and interesting lately! Awesome.
Goddamn those toms! I love that dry thud so much. It's the ideal sound I am looking in for a drum kit, at least the toms
beautiful kit man, we all dream to come across one of these diamonds in the rough
That transition into the jam was a thing of beauty
congrats man! it's always cool to hear someone play an instrument that they're in love with - it's just a little different than normal :D
Love the sound and look of this kit. And that groove is sick af. I had a Zimgar snare drum from the 50s/60s (maybe 70s? lol) and the wrap on that thing is super close to this. Always loved those strata type wraps, especially the real oddball color combos

Dude, you're drumming has come a long way. Very nice performance.
Bro, that’s a beautiful set. I like that songo groove! Nice feel and several cool approaches to the groove.

now thats a clean sounding drumkit . good job on the mixing !
took me about 15 years to find a 10 and 14 to match my tama rockstars. i know this feel. congrats man.
