Great video. I have a 10.5 Old Town paddle kayak and I keep it in my suv with all my gear in my garage. I can only fish 2 to 3 hours at a time because of my back. Having it ready to go like you said is an outstanding time saver.
My OT 106 MK was taking a beating loading in and out car topping. I’m 5’4” and 60+ years old so before I destroyed my kayak or my back I bought a trailer. It works great!
Whether I go XTR 130 or not a trailer is in my future. I'm over 70 and those lifts are getting tough. Also, the hardest part for me of truck bed carry is getting the cart under the kayak when in the water to retrieve it. Also, I like the advantage with the trailer of keeping most of my rigging intact and reducing launch times.
Can you car/truck top it, yes. Should you, depends on your situation. A kayak that heavy, invest in a trailer. You can even tow with a car. They even make collapsible trailers if you’re tight for space.
I can't imagine trying to load this on top of a truck at the boat ramp. When you buy the kayak, does comes with a complimentary Chiropractor? You are going to need it with this kayak. If you buy the kayak, a trailer is the way to go. I really don't see any advantage of owning this kayak versus a Jon boat accept you can use it in a kayak tournaments. From a cost savings, I bet a Jon boat would probably be cheaper until the price comes down.
Trailer is the best way to go but I’ve been doing it in the back of my Colorado for two years now and it works great(and if you have a steep launch ramp, just use a strap with a hook to the front of your kayak to hold it from sliding down). As a former kayak fisherman and now larger boat owner, the point of a kayak is to not need all the extra gear and space. The thing I hate about kayaks on trailers is that fishing tends to be a social endeavor. Where four guys might head out on a boat now you’re seeing 4 rigs, with 4 trailers taking up four limited spots at the often times crowded ramp. The chatter tying up the VHF radio is a whole nother story. To me the benefit of the kayak was I could take just a small car, throw it on the roof and launch it from really any day use area.
