I just purchased my first kayak and I got the old town sportsman onto pilot 120! I wanted this because I have bad knees and didn’t want to be peddling a lot and didn’t know how tiring it could be.
Works great! I’m getting just north of 5 miles per hour. 13x16 Black Pack for my two 50 amp hour batteries. Transducer mounted thru scupper in a way I can lower for side scan and pull it up for landing and in shallow rivers.

As a Newport and Crescent dealer in Canada we will certainly be testing a wide variety of models this season with the NK180's. Shoalie is a great yak for a lot of anglers and like to see how the hull works with power too!

About your comment not to get the gps xi3 … I found that spotlock is a game changer in fishability- so I’d advise your viewers to get the gps version. I own a AP136 who’s minn kota has the gps enabled spotlock, as well as a xi3 with spotlock that’s mounted to a Nucanoe f12. Another important issue that sets the Autopilot apart is the ease of cleaning weeds off the prop. It pops up right in front of you, so you’re not having to use your paddle to kind of scrape the weeds off the prop of your bow mounted xi3… and if that doesn’t work, you’re crawling up to the front of the boat to get the weeds off.
Generally this. The trolling motors cost so much because they are designed for kayaks... aka we built them to mount to a propriatary mount so now you are locked into this ecosystem.
You can't get a sprocket trolling motor for 500.00 bucks. Spotlock makes this boat and something with a cheap trolling motor 2 totally different things that you really can't compare
Best of three for moving water application (river) is PWR w/ NK300, NK180 is too "soft" for going/ getting upstream. Front motor and forward sonar applications have the life span of a fruit fly on the rivers (not to mention hull damage due to repetitive impacts).
NO, they have a pedal drive kayak in the P127. You can’t really just “add” pedal drive to a kayak that isn’t designed for it. You have to have different accommodations for how the leg distance is set (adjustable seat or pedals) and you have to have a hand rudder control installed for steering when using the pedals.

Unfortunately we didn't discuss power output other than specifying the Autopilot is fixed to the integrated option while there are many options both Front and Rear mount in the Bonafide and Native. We will be getting to a video on comparing the engine options from Motorguide, Newport and E-Propulsion in a future video.

That’s not gonna happen. This is an apples to oranges comparison. e-bikes are just bikes that have the advantages of a motor. For kayaks, way more people will just add a motor instead of trying to invest in a power assist pedal drive.
@@ChadHooverFishing i have gone that route.. i am using the nk180 instead of the 4hp on my pa14 .. jsut less noise however, if the epedal drive gets into a low cost to mfg like baufang ebike motors.. and its even more simple since kayak pedals are 1 gear .. and you might not even have to register it.. since its motor assist.. rather then motor powered.

Old Town 136 is the best fishing Kayak in the market price wise.
For me, pedal drive is as far as I go. The fin drives are very easy for me to go all day. I really like the exercise I get for a full day out.
I prefer paddle kayak. I get tired from pedal drive. But I can paddle all day long.

Crescent Shoalie with a NK180 is a great option. Do rivers too.

All makes perfect sense. Lets take a $1500 kayak, add a $500 trolling motor and charge $5000 for it, WITHOUT a battery. Ridiculous!!!

I bought the 136 auto wow it is heavy wheels are a pain so I sold it I didn’t want to pay for a trailer another $1500

I came from boating side of bass fishing and now I see the kayak side of bass fishing going down the same rabbit hole and it needs to stop
