💎 Another impulse purchase! I got this mini kit from Diamond Art Club when I was buying another kit. I gotta say, there's lots of new stuff in here I wasn't expecting - new tray, new pen, lots of fairy dust drills (lots!). However, there were also some things that weren't great, including all the extra packaging/plastic. What do you think? Have you tried any of the other mini kits? How do they compare? 💎

I think the individually wrapped is a great help. I’m getting ready to do a diamond art class at a local library so that will help. I do understand your concern with plastic waste though. 😊
Thank you for completely opening and checking these out.
@@PamperedWithDiamonds Yep, for individual projects, I get it, but that seems like a small use case compared to most of their audience. Thanks for sharing - and good luck with the class! That’s awesome!!
The separate packaging would be helpful if you were doing this kit with your children. Each would have what they need and not have to share the containers. That would also make having more than one label sheet helpful. Thank you for showing this kit. It is cute!
@@dianabrian5768 For that use case, yes the extra packaging makes sense.
Or gifting, maybe? Sometimes it's nice to share a set with someone else.
I like the idea of individual drill sets, great for traveling and sharing. I plan on purchasing a set and giving as gifts to my grandchildren so they can work along with me. Enjoy your videos.
I have seen the unboxings of them all. Not sure if I will get any. I would like to see them done to see what they look like with just special drills. Thanks for showing them!
@@jackieunger5713 Thanks for watching!!
Nice images on these paintings.😊
I wanted to get the 4th of July ones, but I was sad they wouldn't be shipped in time for the holiday 😭😭. Thanks for the in depth unboxing!
Cute kit! I'm curious to see how the new tool kit will work.
@@kaityyart Me too!!
They are interesting. I like the concept, but agree on the wasted packaging. I could see if there were a different sticker sheet and symbols for each canvas.
I’m interested in hearing your reaction ti the tool kit and the canvases themselves when you work on them.
@@ruthforget253 It feels like getting those tiny 200 drill bags. So much easier to have them in larger bags for kitting up. Thanks for watching!!
@@DiamondPaintingAnonymous I agree! I hate those little bags. They make me twitch. 😂
Hi Daphne, good morning from Southern California.
Love this, very Southern California 50s diner.
The pen remains me of an Epi pen.
@@elizabethwarman9028 At least the pen is a bit chunkier than the typical pink pen - those are definitely too small for my hands!!
Hi... they sent 2 sticker sheets by accident, there's only one in my kit. Having the drills separate for each picture allowed me to give each of my grandchildren a picture and the associated drills.
I was dying at "cheechen" 😂
@@sarahreams7419 😂
Hi Daphne thanks for sharing. I got a new kit in a DP, so it had the bigger tray - it’s smooth plastic and the lid and stopper work well. The pen is okay, like you said, it’s kind of like the QuickStick I used to use for ABs - the putty formula is a bit stringy but I understand they are working on it. My 2cents! ❤️from 🇨🇦
@@susanh9950 I’ve not tried any of their putty before, so I’m curious to see how it works in the multiplacer and the twist tip. Thanks for watching!!
I bought the make up set and completed it. I loved it! I do love mini sets as a nice break from bigger canvases and have many Paint Gem sets as well. I think DAC is evaluating the packaging so we will see how that evolves. As for finishing a set, I was completely happy and loved working on it.
@@theprincipalpainter I love small projects as well, and I’m excited to try out their new tools. Thanks for watching!!
I like the new mini sets and tool kits. I do agree with that each one being separated seems like a waste. However, I did see in the vip group last week that they wanted people's opinions on if they wanted all of the drills together or not so they may change the packaging based on the input in there.
@@hartanna Good to know! Thanks for sharing!!
I love these little kits. I have purchased two and they are packaged as you shown. I love the new tool kit. I was surprised that every image had its own pack of drills. I just kitted them all. Some of the images do use different colors. So, it was easier for me just to have them all ready. I am hoping they come out with a "Halloween" kits. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for the share,
~diane
@@DiDiamondPaints Thanks for watching!!
Maybe two sticker sheets so you have one to kit up and one as a color chart. Great way to see what the fairy dust drills are all about.
@@marshah5930 There are a LOT of fairy dust drills in this. Not sure if they are all like that. Thanks for watching!!
I absolutely love the new mini dazzles. I’m saving all the special drills! I’m sure the extra sticker sheet was an oopsie.
Excited to see the finish on this. They are too cute!
Love this comparison & all the facts & observations 👍😁 I haven't tried paint gems or the new DAC pen/tray or dazzlers...but may be able to in the future!
@@gemsdivine I’ll be interested to see how I like them. Thanks for watching!!
Thanks, Daphne. I've seen a lot about the new trays and pens but not a thorough comparison to PaintGem.
@@sylviakanel9766 I’ll see what I think after I finish them!!
I purchased a pen from Sassy Ashley. Pretty pen. A bit expensive. On the large side. Will try, I will most likely flip out of my hand.
I'll be sticking to Paint Gem; hate the excessive plastic, and not a fan of the twist up pen. Also not sure I want a glittery pizza and taco.
I do agree about all the plastic waste. DAC came up and said they were going to keep the bags separated though, even after asking in the community (I think the opinions were split on the subject). I wanted to try out Paintgem for a while but never got to it. I just ordered one of the mini dazzles, it is so easy to add to an existing order for such a small price...
@@KatA7X The price point is nice, but the extra packaging will certainly make me think twice before purchasing more. Thanks for watching!!
I just got the make up one and feel the same way about the individual drill packs. Seems very unnecessary and made kitting up the entire set a pain with way too much trash. The Make Up kit only had fairy dust drills and 3 were vertical and 3 were horizontal. If you wanted to frame them on the wall afterwards having the different orientations would be a little annoying.
@@Crafty-ishKristyn I agree the mixed orientation would make framing them a challenge. Thanks for watching!!
I think they are going to start sending drills together like paint gems soon
@@Jeaniefulp Thanks for sharing!!
Interesting....tfs
@@margiegreiss5468 Thanks for watching!!
I can see that maybe for a beginner, packaging the "kits" individually might be useful. But, I agree with you that it is excess waste.
Most people doesnt like all the drills being bagged up for all the pictures, most people would want them to be individually for each picture like you got
I'm not a fan of tool kits period. I don't use the baggies, or putty, only use my trays and pens. I wish there was a way to tell all the companies please don't send me anything other than the canvas, drills and stickers. I really hate the waste. That said, the price is nice on this as well as really cute canvases.
@@susandoty8241 I wish there was a no tool kit option as well!!
How are you going to frame these or finish them?
@@robinbusch8675 I don’t know if I will - they may just go into a portfolio!
And it w I uld be nice if you had a party or something then each person will have their own drills
I think the double sticker sheet was a fluke. My Diner Foods only had one sticker sheet.
@@sarahood2480 Thanks for sharing!!
I’m guessing consumers on one side saying. I want the option to just kit up and do one at a time. Then on the flip side. It’s too much plastic.
@@teresakooser5695 Yep, I’m sure.
I don’t like the matting because it’s not even around all the edges. Like it’s hit or miss with the trimming. Too much packaging in my opinion. I’d like to try the pen and tray though.
@@graylagran7443 I wonder if the matting is different colors in different sets. Like, green doesn’t really match my home decor, so . . . Thanks for watching!!
@@DiamondPaintingAnonymous it is. I saw another unboxing where the matting was yellow. But different kit - flowers I think.
I have the exotic flowers and also don’t appreciate the packaging. If they were labeled resealable bags , it would make more sense. But since you have to kit up anyway, the extra packaging is just annoying.
@@nicolerouse3303 It feels like those small 200 drills bags. I can see both sides, but personally I’d like less packaging. Thanks for watching!!
I don’t think these are nearly as good as Paint Gems.
@@Susansinksanddrills There are pluses and minuses to both, I think. PG certainly has more selection right now. Thanks for watching!!
I did not purchase, but I am a lover of PG
@@NancyCanadian I’ve enjoyed the PG kits I’ve done. Thanks for watching!!
You would need to remove the Craftibly Link from your list in the Video description.
@@KathrinHausermann Thanks for the heads up. I didn’t realize they had finally close the site.
great review. I have no interest in doing minis.
