I think for most of us, but not all of us. Getting a good deal on some good components and then rebuilding it for. It’s the best Crawler we can imagine. Is 95% of the fun to me. My friends think I enjoy working on them more than driving them, I like to think there’s always a way to make things better even at a low cost budget. You can make things better. Thanks for all your input information. It is most appreciated.
Fun rig for sure. Better tires and a little extra weight down low & the Fury does exceptional. I also have the green one. As for the outrunners, I've been using them in my crawlers for roughly 10 years. I've always loved the torque-density.
It’s an awesome little rig light upgrades and you’ll be impressed, mine has the rcawd high clearance links, hobby plus evo pro chassis, v2 rear axle, 1.3 wheels and injora cling ons, brass on the front axle. It’s a machine now oh and 3flow9 rear link riser
I was in the first badge when these came out and this was my first brushless micro. It had massive electronic issues right out of the box. After getting a new esc under warranty and furitek's software upgrades it runs fine. Did some simple upgrades which makes it quite the little beast. Got rid of the rollbar, lights and bumper. Some brass in front and rear, brass wheels with extra weight front, JConcepts Ruptures, no springs, 40wt shock oil and cut the overhang of the rear bed. Velcro'd the battery on the servo and put the electronics in the battery tray. It's a great little rock crawler now
Really enjoyed that review .I've been thinking of buying one of those ,like the power wagon style, and my crawling is not too crazy so standard setups usually do me fine . I gave you a subscription 🤗 greetings from latvia, Northern Europe.....Harry
Thanks Harry, glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for letting me know! FYI I think this model may be out of production now, so don't leave it too long to buy. Once stock is gone, I suspect that'll be it. Cheers
I got the Furitek Katana, now its my favorite Truck! I works so smooth and can crawl in snail speed or with some realy nice wheelspeed. The scale Jeep Wrangler shell looks nice. I put some 1.0 metal beadlocks with RC4WD Mud Slingers on and it climbs realy well.
Money was exchanged for them. That's lost opportunity for other things, investments, etc. But yes, it's a privilege for which I'm grateful. It's become a bit of a collection, hasn't it!
Great review and solution to take this rig back to a much better place performance wise. I do agree that radio is amazing on any of the vehicles I have it with (1/12 FMS Jimny and FMS Max Smasher V2) the wheel feel is so so good!
Looked at the newer versions of this truck but unimpressed with the prices. Very interesting to see the older version at a better price point and with a bit of fettling You have improved performance quite a bit. Now seriously looking at this as a possible starting point for a custom crawler project with my own LCG chassis. Thank You for the good info, really appreciate the time and effort You have put into this. Cheers.
I would think that would be the best thing for that rig would be a scale Hardbody because it's got that flat skid if I remember right and it hangs down just a little bit
I think the biggest problem with this one if I remember right what's the skid plate where the lynx hung down and hooked up you would get hung up pretty bad right there
I like that truck as it's got a lot of potential for a variety of builds. The electonics are fantastic and the performance is good enough to invest a little time to make it better. Wow, that's a lot of cranes you've got there. Are you starting a micro landscaping business? Cornering the bonsai market perhaps? I can't wait for all the upcoming content. Take Care!
Lol bonsai landscaping, that's good. I'm actually interviewing the guy behind the Nano TRX project tonight, I'll try to slip that reference into the discussion, just for you 😋
I've had mine for about a year, and rearranged the guts for weight distribution (in a jankier way than you, but still) right away. I've loved this little car, but it def took some tweaking!
If I could get my hands on one, yes. But there's no stock in Australia that I can find, of the older brushed or blx models, nor of the newer/current ones. October/November is possible, but that's a while away!
There's a lot of good information in here. It has all the great electronics and chassis. I just wonder why they would put the battery in it's original location? I thought we were going to see your beautiful dog pick it up and run off.
I thought she might grab it a few times there, too 😅 Yeah the battery location was odd. Did they even test it or just go with their first draft and call it a day? Lol
Fully agree on the potential. Also, why don't you start your own crawler company? You've obviously got tremendous skills in design, and driving, and can make an impressive rig.
Haha thank you, but I'm just a home tinkerer. Too busy making videos, doing other business stuff and being a dad. Maybe one day, but probably not. I like giving designs away, I'll keep doing that for the foreseeable future. You guys are totally worth it.
I know this isn’t the topic but awhile ago I asked vanquish vrd stance or redcat accent fusion and now I’m leaning to the trx4 sport not the high trail but the original one because of my budget so with upgrades can it get to the vrd level??
You'll have to spend more than what just buying the Stance will give you our of the box to get there, but yes, with the right mods and experimentation, you should be able to do it.
Craig, I like your channel, But i was going to bitch about your course in your yard, But i see you got alot more rocks now.... All you need to do now is throw some log hunks into it, pack a bunch of wet dirt+grass hunks in between everything .It will soften all the deep holes and glue everything together. As nature takes over it will get better and better with time........ It looks like you have a lot of nature there. Plenty of free materials. Im happy for your success, Some sweet crawling terrain in your videos would be such a plus. And trust me, Something you will be proud of. Oh and a great practice place for tuning your riggs for competition, What improvements WORK and do not work.......If your renting the place then never mind, I understand........Like I said i like your channel , Want to see ya take it to the top. Dan
That's great advice, thank you! I am restricted in what I can do with the rocks here - but I really like your suggestion! I'll think on it. (I have had these rocks for ages tho)
Lol that would be osmosis at work. My boyo has been learning it for a year or two now 😊 Oooh I just clicked the time stamp. You, sir, made a funny. It went whoosh, right over my head! Lol
it looked good. but it is loud. influences were tooting it so very hard because it came with the latest brushless system. but it was flawed electronics. Then you start looking at its details and how it crawls and you start watching its dynamics. then you see it; the slop, the balance, the weight distribution under load... was disappointing and I passed on it. even today's hp/furitek combos still have similar issues including a poor final gear ratio vs torque if its not brushless. and the torque twist still hasn't been resolved even with the counter rotation of driveshafts as the twist happens starting at the diffs, not at the trans.
I'm not hugely familiar with furitek but I'm always up to look closely at something. Kudos to them for trying new things. You only get better with doing projects like this, so hopefully we see improvement in their range, which seems to command a premium price at least. The materials are good. Now the design needs improving, I think, yeah. Cheers
I just think Fairtex a little bit overpriced. Its pricing is up with 1/10 scale, crawlers parts. I understand that it’s very good but for the price it’s just not there. It’s too much.
An understandable conclusion. For some, it'll be the right answer, but the electronics are really nice on this thing, so the potential is there like it is for so many other models. I'm glad it's a thing, but totally get your opinion, I think it's entirely reasonable!
I've started putting chapters in my longer videos again. Thanks for the feedback. This one has a weight bias that's not ideal. I designed a downloadable piece to help address that.

My brother has that exact truck; we put some much larger tires with weighted wheels, and it became a very nice performer.
Nice. I don't think it'll take much to bring this thing up to scratch.
Nice job Craig, I love this platform for it's possibilities. Good on you for the free files
A pleasure, as always 🫡
Lmao the dog gate.i love watching dogs at the park try to catch a fast basher.

Nicely done, that sounds like a good setup.

@RCTNT OK thank you for that information 🙂. I'd better start looking online 🤗
@Scale_RC_Cars I had a link on the description, as maybe a starting point!
Excellent advice, thank you!

A bit of weight and better tires really can change a vehicle, eh! Glad you're having fun with it
Man I envy that collection of cars, even if they may not all be my "cup of tea", still fun to have and stare at....

Wouldn't hurt it, yeah! Getting the basics right first is helpful tho. Still tinkering :)

Ah, I see. Sounds about right. Thanks for the tip.
You should consider getting an RC Crawler... they are FUN RC 😆... Great job my friend and flawless edition job with that transition at 3:40 💪
Haha yeah thanks that was fun

Dude. Thank you.
It's quite stiff to my eye... But this is so inspirational to watch! The second run was impressive, even the dog approved your mods 😅
Aw thanks. We had fun with it 😊
Dont even joke about me getting on my spektrum high horse mate 😅
I know you guys are out there 😅

Rad little truck
With a little tweaking I think it's gonna be great. I'm still thinking about doing a chassis for it, I bet it would be worthwhile.
