ET quick tip always protect the brass ends of your gas lines . If you mar the brass seat you will have a gas leak .
Great video keep them coming !

appreciate your videos. I've enrolled in a welding course at my local vocational school with hopes of working in the industry, I'd be interested in seeing a video about the different jobs you do or are available to welders in general.

I'd say an arc gouging torch would rate higher than a spoolgun or TIG torch, but it really depends on what type of work you're doing. Plasma gouging would be another option. Either one beats grinding out a bad weld or old weld that has cracked, etc.

Can you make a short video telling us why you chose the machine you chose over other machine option. Why did you prefer this machine over the ranger GXT

I had the whole set up for Aluminum and after 3-4 years I got rid of it because when you tell the customer the cost to weld Aluminum mobile they would freak out. It seemed to attract cheap customers. It was always be can you weld my bike or my cheap trailer….

I dont have a dedicated mig welder in my shop currently. Im trying to decide between a miller 12vs suitcase or a miller passport plus which is the 211? I believe inside of a suitcase type housing to be more durable. I dont do much mig welding yet but Im getting info on some up coming jobs that a wirefeed would help tremendously

I have a friend who has a 12vs and loves it. Heavy duty built construction.

If it's going to be in your shop, I'd look seriously at a stand alone or multi process machine.
For the price of a suitcase you could get a really nice unit mains powered, dual voltage you can run it off your mains 110 or 220 or a generator I've done that too.
Of course a lot depends on your situation, type of work budget etc
You could also look at other brands, don't get me wrong Miller and Lincoln are great.
But here in Europe I'm from Ireland myself we have many other excellent made in Europe brand's too as well as Blue and Red.
One I would recommend as I use them myself, are HTP Welders HTP Pro Pulse 220 MTS is a fantastic MIG welder.
The HTP machines are called STEL in Europe, they are manufactured here and they are just renamed for the US Market.
It's all excellent quality components and very well made with great functionality.
We also have a UK company that makes great suitcases for between 620 and 1000 USD including tax for a 200 & 350 amp suitcases wire feeders.
It seem in Europe there's a little more competition for the upper end of welders.
I tend to stay away from the cheap chinesium stuff too.
But there are several EU brands that are just as good as Miller and Lincoln.
Fronius is another fantastic quality machines the Transteel 2200 is another very high quality Mig welder.
Just some options not telling you it's the best for your particular situation but maybe it'll give you some additional options to think about.

@@deepwinter77 A 12VS will be able to handle a lot, in shop and out. I don't like taking what I consider shop welders out in the field unless absolutely necessary. I had an old lincoln 155 weld-pak which was the only mig welder I hauled around, it laid an excellent whether with mig or flux, the only issue was it was a transformer and had a bit of weight. I don't like taking out shop welders b/c they tend to get beat up by people that do not own them....forklifts, morons not paying attention and the like. The reason I like using a suitcase like a 12VS is that with a simple swap of guns, drive wheels, the wire type and I can weld pretty much anything with it, mig, flux, dual shield, etc.
I will disagree about the HTP though as far as my own experience. I had a 200 pro pulse and it was the absolute worst unit I have ever had. The only wire I could get to run semi-correctly was .030 70S-6, flu, bronze-silicon, .023 70S-6, and especially aluminum welded in the worst way, and I could never get .023 to weld ever. I always had miller aside from the little 155 weld-pak and thought I would give the HTP a try, it actually cost me a lot of money to repair jobs I would do for customers. I sold it, and got what I wanted to get in the first place, a millermatic 255 and there is simply no comparison, especially with aluminum, I have the aluma-pro push pull gun and it welds AL like no one's business, even better than my old 30A spoolgun. I do like the fronius as that is a good high end machine, something that could compete with miller, but most people have never heard of them.

When you are welding in the field what kind of gas are you using with your wire feeder active 8x? and you don't get any porosity when welding outside with it?

I use regular hardwire and 75/25 mix. If it’s windy it’s not useful at all.

what you mean by hooking up the argon to the regulator, bottle to torch or bottle, machine then torch? does the machine have the port for the argon and connector for a foot pedal (TIG)

    • @elevatetrades
      @elevatetrades  Год назад

Thanks for the question, the machine has a port for your typical lead connections as well as 110/220 hook ups and a special port for running equipment like my wire feeder. Gas does not flow through the generator. It hooks directly from the regulator to the back of the wire feeder. My apologies if I fumbled my words and made that confusing!

    ~$1300😂😂😂😂 for your spoolgun....
    That be cheaper than dirt...
We had recently got one, up north here in Canada... $5kcad.
Even with conversion that be still a steal for the century...

A set of Oxy-Acetylene bottles would rate higher than an aluminum spool gun.
Next, your Tig torch isn’t a “Tig welder”! Your Lincoln is a Tig welder as well as a generator and SMAW welding machine.
I would say that having a Tig torch would rate at number or 2 depending on the type of welding you do. However, in order to run your Tig torch, you not only need consumables, you also need 100% argon, and if your job is more than 15 feet from your work, you will need a gas line equally as long as your cables, and a remote for your welder.
Next on the list would come your mig welder, which will also need mix gas, or maybe 100% CO2. I would choose C25 myself. C15 in a pinch. Unless you’re using gasless flux, which in my opinion is garbage.
Thats 4 bottles, which we haven’t seen or heard about.
What is equally as important to your welder, is the ability to process material.
Without that capability, you may as well leave your welder at home?
A saw is ok but not capable of everything, especially in the field.
Oxy-acetylene is great, not only for the ability to process material, but for the ability to pre-heat anything bigger than 1”, less than that depending on ambient temp.
Propane is better, but that makes 5 bottles for everything you’re carrying.
If the area you are working in is covered in snow, or well below freezing, you will need to clear of and melt snow and ice.
You have a lot of nice gear, but you definitely need a lot more stuff to make all that work for you.
    Edit to my comment!
I almost forgot, that machine is capable of quite a bit. So a gouger is a must. Carbon arc gouging will save you valuable time and money. In order to operate that you will also need to be hauling around a compressor.
Fit up and install a welding skid, customize it however you want, but keep in mind everything you need to operate your mobile shop. Leaving room, and making accessible spaces for all your bottles.

Dude, your connectors are called “dinse” connectors.
    Tweco is an ESAB brand.
You won’t land a Lincoln sponsorship if you keep shouting out ESAB.
