TBH I never saw Po's training as ONE day. The journey to Tai Lung and back HAD to take multiple days and we saw the sun set a few times in that montage
@@JP-kp6xv that’s why Po used his chaotic style to fought Tai Lung instead of typical Kung Fu, first because Po is good as it and second he just trained for a week so there’s no way Po can fight Tai Lung hand to hand for a long period of time like the Furious Five
27:45 "It's nothing." It's a really sad scene to see as an adult. So many people give up on dreams because they let today's failure dictate tomorrow's decisions. Had Shifu taught Tai Lung how to handle failure, Tai Lung could've been so much more; with or without Dragon Scroll.
The thing I love about animation is that everything is deliberate. You don't have to wonder if that thoughtful expression was just the actor wondering if they left the oven on. It was drawn there. Every little detail, the tiny movements that you barely notice but that stop a scene from feeling strange and mechanical. All of it. (slightly less so with more digital animation making use of tools that help to fill out complex scenes. But still for the most part.) There's a bowl that starts to slide off the noodle cart when Po is heading for the stairs, you hear the ceramic slide as it moves, and Po catches it and puts it back. It happens so quickly, and it's not a large movement, it feels like a detail that, in live action, could even have been unscripted. But putting it in the animation gives us extra information. The cart isn't just heavy and unwieldy, the bowls are unstable and fragile, Po has to keep his focus on the cart while he moves or stuff will break. It's a nothing detail, lasts maybe half a second, and absolutely doesn't matter, but it's the sort of thing I always enjoy because someone made the choice to put it there, and it contains so much condensed information. Obviously some of it IS just decoration, but in animation, well... "there are no accidents" :p
I love Pos journey - from idolizing the Furious Five, to being to told by his idols he doesn’t fit in, and to him finally gaining respect from them. It made me emotional seeing them bow in respect to him at the end. Po may be fictional but he felt so real and I wanted to hug him by the end. That’s the power of a good story.
It was great to hear you praise Ian McShane’s performance and especially the way you shouted out Mr Ping’s VA too. Rare to see someone both recognize the voice and acknowledge the great work they did to bring a character to life. PLEASE watch the second one, it’s the best movie out of the trilogy and the best sequel ever made for a movie, in my humble opinion. Directorial debut of someone who was head of story for this first movie, she made an AMAZING sequel that answers all your questions lol. I personally don’t think you need to watch the TV shows or spin offs. Watch on your own time. Enjoy Kung Fu Panda, guys!😊
I would definitely suggest doing the series, at least the second one. It, like How to Train Your Dragon, ends up being a great story that gets told between the three movies.
It’s a great film, and has stood the test of time. Extra points to a film that gives you something new on a rewatch. Once you know the end message, rewatching the meal scene when everyone is like “these noodles are amazing, they’re so good!” And Po is like “awww you guys, you’re too kind, I wish I knew the secret ingredient and could give you the best” 😊
Crazy how this movie is over 15 years old. I remember seeing this in theaters and when the credits started, I remember thinking that this was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen
As much as I love/really like the sequels, I still think the first movie probably has the best fights which is impressive for a CG animated movie from 2008!
I got the chance to see the 4th film on Thursday and it was honestly pretty damn good and fun. It ends up having some important parallels and full circle moments to this first film showing how far Po has come along in his ascension up the levels of Kung Fu. Definitely one of the most consistently great animated franchises we have had so far in recent years.
@@fasihimran immediately calling me stupid for having an opinion? Way to oust yourself as an asshole dude. Feel free to take your own stupidity elsewhere. Bye.
I love the first 2 Kung Fu Panda movies. The messages, humor, and animation are all exceptional. The film still holds up. I need to see 3 and now 4. I love how powerful these characters are.
Loved this! Definetely would love for you to watch next ones. + Honestly even more excited for How To Train Your Dragon as its not so comedic, but more story and emotion driven series.
It only just occurred to me now that Oogway dies when he did because as long as he was alive he had the power to reverse his decision to make Po the Dragon Warrior so Sifu could hope for another way forward. But when he was dead it forcef Sifu to accept that he had to find a way to train Po.
One of my favourite scenes is when they were at the birth place of kung fu. Shifu: Do you WANT to learn kung fu Po: Yes... Shifu: Then I AM. Your. Master. The scene is so cool because at first Shifu had no desire to train Po. And although Po was enthusiastic and wanted to learn kung fu so badly, later he got discouraged by Shifu's harsh treatment and said 'You're not my Master.'
Thanks for all the Nacho Libre references that I had no idea were mixed in haha so great and such a fun time. Can't wait to go on patreon and watch the whole movie with you.

Love this movie, love animation and I gotta say I think I like it better the older I get. I don't remember feeling the emotions I feel watching it now when I watched it the first or second time, I definitely don't remember tearing up. And the amazing thing about Kung Fu Panda is that 2 and 3 are great, neck a neck with the first one, which is a rare and incredible feat. It is up there with the best trilogies ever (same as How to Train Your Dragon) .
Would love to see you do the whole KFP oeuvre. I am looking forward to watching the fourth one! I really hope you watch How To Train Your Dragon even more though, it is my favorite animated film series of all time! (And that's saying something cos I'm old! 😎😁)

Oh jeez, I do NOT recommend Legends of Awesomeness. I’m sure some people enjoyed it, but I hate… HATE what it did to the characters. Everyone was an idiot, except Po, who they inexplicably made really arrogant. Which is like the one trait Po doesn’t have.
