      Makes me jealous as an America. The only other people in the US I've met that listen to Iced Earth were people at the Demons and Wizards show I went to last year. None of my metal friends knew about them until I introduced them. I found about them in high school by way of being a Tim Ripper Owens fan (still think Jugulator is one of Priest's best albums). And then their Barlow material ended up becoming my favorite as did the band itself.

    • @elementalargon7597
      @elementalargon7597 Год назад

      @@SefniAsheforr I have a similar experience: I had just discovered Helloween and Blind Guardian. I was perusing the rock/metal CD section at Best Buy in 2000, while in h.s. I saw the Alive in Athens CD, a remembered CDnow website recommending this band on the B.G. album I purchased, and I decided to buy it. I listened to it every free moment I had for the next couple of weeks. I was hooked!
      Unfortunately I don't know of another fellow American who was familiar with I.E., much less loved them as I do. Such a shame, as Shaffer and Barlow (Hammett and Hetfield) should be looked at similarly to Metallica in American metal.

    You now need to listen to Demons & Wizards, you talked about Iced Earth was a mix of 2 bands. For D&W, the singer is Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian) and Jon Schaffer the guitarist (Iced Earth). You really should react to them. You should start with, pretty much any song, from Touched by the Crimson King (Crimson King being one one my favorite).

    Iced Earth?! I’ve never heard of these guys either so let’s react to these guys together! By the way, just a side note, people call me a babyface as well just like they do to you! Just thought I’d throw that out there! Anyway, these guys sound fucking amazing! Another up and coming heavy metal band now that I’ve added on my playlist to listen to more and more often as I do anything like playing sports or working out! I love this variety of melodies this band played throughout this song both fast and slow! Also, I hope to play like that on my guitar too someday! Another thing I wanted to throw out there! Looking forward to more Iced Earth reactions like this one in the near future and I do mean in the near future so please do so, Alex Hefner! Keep on rocking, bro!🎸🎸🎸

I feel your every emotion... In every reaction. I appriciate you and what you do .... Keep reacting please. As i type thus comment im watching you show austin psychosocial... Jamming with y'all on the big screen. Thank you for being you and making my day a dope ass day . .

    Iced Earth was the very first metal band I've ever heard, around 1998/1999 (I was 7 or 8 years old at that time). They pretty much brought me into heavy metal and I still love them for it.
    And it actually was this very album (Something Wicked This Way Comes) that I listened to, mostly because i liked the album cover.
    I immediately fell in love with the first few seconds of the song "Burning Times" (maybe for another reaction, Alex?)

    If you liked this, listen to "Ten Thousand Strong" and "A Question of Heaven", the range of different compositions and sounds they produce will help you understand why this is one of the best power metal bands in the USA. Jon Schaffer
    is one of the best composers heavy metal has ever had.
    BTW, that arpeggio you like to learn to play is easier than it looks like, it's only problem is that it's recorded with two harmonized guitars, so either you play one of the voices and accept it won't sound the same, or learn how to play both at the same time (not *so* difficult)

    My first time hearing and seeing Iced Earth was on May 05,1999 at Cardi's in Houston, they opened and played with Nevermore and Destiny's End, I got to meet them back stage cause I was a roadie for a band called Cremator. Iced Earth was also handing out free CDs that night they asked me if I could help so I walked around the club handing out free CDs to anybody that wanted them and they gave me a copy of their self titled album Iced Earth Iced Earth and some other merch for helping out, I also got to sit in the DJ's both and meet Outlaw Dave from Rock 101 that night as well, ah the good ol days how I miss them.

    Iced Earth has been around since the late 80s, with the first official album being released in 1991. They've gone thru MANY line-up changes, but the founder and rhythm guitarist, Jon Schaffer is the one that IS the band with his signature riffing style. The band has gone thru 5 vocalists. The one in this song, Matt Barlow, is essentially the Bruce Dickinson of Iced Earth. He was the 3rd vocalist after there were two different ones on each of the first two albums. So Barlow came in on the 3rd, and stayed with them until before their 2004 album Glorious Burden which had Ripper Owens, who had a higher pitched vocal. He recorded with Judas Priest in the late 90s himself. Ripper was with IE for 2 albums and then Barlow came back for 2 more albums, and then he quit again to finally be replaced by a guy who could sing in both Ripper and Barlow's style and often mixes it up within the same song. Which means of course, he can cover all of the older songs in essentially their original sound. Which is extremely cool.
    For song suggestions, I suggest The Something Wicked Trilogy and Gettysburg, a 3 part 20+ minute epic of the telling of the Battle of Gettysburg in metal form.

    Yeah buddy! Iced Earth's rhythm guitarist and main songwriter, Jon Schaffer, is one of my main influences as a guitar player. I'm glad you got to experience one of the songs on the album that first graced my ears in 2000. It's interesting you bring up Iron Maiden. Jon was heavily influenced by Iron Maiden and lists their bass player, Steve Harris, as one of his biggest overall influences. So glad you enjoyed this!
