So you're offering coaching for mapping? Name your price.
Lamb Choppy lemme join
me too thanks
Lamb Choppy yes it's gonna be like the coaching system from tf2 but actually useful
Jeffery
there is the osu! mentorship programm if you are interested in non-profit "coaching". Mentee apps should be open i think
Pishi: you suck
Me: well damn you're right but it's brutal honesty which I like
Epic Replays HONESTYYYYYYYYYY
brutal HONESTY? ft. GYZE
Akaku somatta
Let the Honesty meme begin.
try presenting your song to the public lobbies 0_0
Is it just me or does it seem like when he talks to the camera he's super energetic but when he talks to people he goes completely dead?
Pishifat : mapping changes how you listen to music
Me : so true
Omg I have to agree that mapping has forever changed the way I listen to music
i cant believe you made your sister play with your skin!
no
I want ks
Exactly!! That must've been so annoying
Oh, I see how it is. So it's really better to start simple and get a grasp of it and then slowly go on to map slightly more complex songs so you don't have to focus on what became natural to you. Seems like the most efficient way to learn to map.

Yeah, the main advantage is that some aspects of mapping don't really exist in lower difficulties, meaning there's less stuff to fuck up and you can focus on the basics. Otherwise it's easy to just do everything wrong. That being said, it's very possible to learn both ways, it'll just likely take a bit longer.
Interesting, I have a background in electronic music production so I generally don't have a trouble spoting important sounds, rhythm changes, various rhythms in the song itself... I have a good understanding of music to say the least, but creating an interesting map is a whole different story. I only made my first map public, which is now graveyarded as it's just fundamentaly wrong. I have started another project that I sometimes open to do something with, but I am just not happy with how it looks as of now, seems uninteresting and boring just like your last example in the video, despite picking a genre I am most experienced with.
Your videos help a ton tho, thanks for taking the time!
Kujar3Player good luck on your map!
i have the same issue, music production is a breeze to me but mapping is just insanely hard to get right
7:29 "my third victim" lmfaoo
nacht 100 new runners
Never give up
The way i started mapping is through finding random songs that I found nice and tried mapping them, I eventually stop midway because I found another song. Although this was useful because I got a ton of experience from that. I used like 10 hours for 1 minute of a map, now probably 1 hour and it’s actually playable and looks nice. God my first map is so horrible
Bruh me too (sort of)
I map some songs that I find cool or find funny. Basically anything, besides those ones that have already been ranked.. Maybe...
However it mostly takes multiple days for me to complete a map, maybe even weeks, because I still suck at mapping and I don't even know anything of advertising my maps or gaining feedback and fixing things and very few people play my maps.. The most successful one having almost 200 plays and a love heart..
It could be worse though.. Getting a love heart is nice.. XP
11:37 Secret Society Blanket spreads its influence.
7:27 what is that skin?
also why is it on 727?
Seki AHAHAHAHA LE EPIC 727 LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
did u ever figure out what it was?
no lmao
im late but im pretty sure the skin is hhjkl, theres a version with numbers and without numbers tho
me: registers on osu -> new mapper
*How Low Hello There*
Zoni hmm, Charlotte
Don't forget to thank mappers because without them, we wouldn't be able to rack up some FC and pp maps uwu
yeah if i remember something i had remembered a long time ago, was that i always recommended people to start off with a hard diff.
no rhythm simplification needed, and no spacing concepts
I wish the editor had an audio visualizer though. The spikes that beats make can help maybe.
After watching this video, I realized I'm not cut out for mapping.
*"You have potential!"*
Just watched your old video this one is as great
this is like that video where the musician teaches a concept to 5 different skill levels
im eating oreos
Nice
Stop making me want oreos
Ew oreos

I have seen a few of your videos and I just wanted to comment:
My friends have all played osu for a few years and they finally got me to try it. Quickly I realized that I was garbage at osu, but I always had fun still playing all the cool beat maps. I am a big guitar hero fan so osu always seemed like a keyboard (albeit more weaboo) alternative. So, instead of actually playing osu, I just started watching all the maps on the "can't lose mode". Then my buddy Mike told me how we can make our own beat maps and that has been my current osu goal for a week or two. If I were to catagorize myself as a certain type of new player, it would be someone with very little osu experience and very little experiance when it comes to music and understanding it. Having watched some of yours (and many other videos) the biggest thing that I feel is to just keep watching other maps as well as keep mapping yourselves. I have learned to use the editor a bit and the best feeling is when you get a part to look and feel really cool. I haven't improved much, but I am sure that I will continue to learn, practice, and improve. Hopefully I can one day get to the level where I can understand half of the stuff you talk about in your videos. Nevertheless, your editor guide videos have been a great help to me and I will continue to watch your videos and try to glean some knowledge from them. I don't know how many people try to start mapping before they can reliably finish songs on EASY, but for me, mapping is cooler and more fun (so far). I just thought that me telling you this might, i dunno, help you understand the level, backing, and ability of some of your viewers. Thanks
You just gave me a vision for a fucking, maybe already too simple song to be mapped. Thank you. This video actually taught me way much more than all the others "you have to place streams like this" or "jumps like this" videos. I'm looking forward on more of this kind of videos!
I hardly even think of things, I just listen, then think "Hey this set of beats would be cool here" and the rest is just feeling
you should do more stuff like this because it was a really fun watch
I realise i'm so much better than new mappers, yet still very very ... very very shit :)
FatesOfDestiny im more shit haha
instantly recognized the HELLO, AND WELCOME TO OSU! voice from the tutorial.
As an example, the only thing I noticed during that build up was the spacing, rather than any of the other changes you made. As I'm also someone who has never mapped, but have hundreds of hours in standard.
My understanding of mapping is just visual music you think of the music and run it through your head with osu in mind
the slider reverse mechanic at the end..... oh god, i did the same exact thing so many times when i was just starting. "what is this??? how do i make the slider longer???????????? :angery:"
my respec for guilty gear music d
I made my sister play osu before. She is BEYOND bad. She can’t do sliders, she can’t click, she gets 100s on OD 0 and gets D on 1 star maps
Hello and welcome to oss!
Ringating still best mapper
Will you ever talk about mapping in other modes? Maybe with some guest mappers for every mode? I’m curious about osu!catch mapping and how it works, since it looks pretty hard to innovate rhythms and such into that game mode. Just a suggestion that I thought could be fun :)
due to the rhythmic nature of mapping, osu! has helped me drastically with rhythmic dictation in music theory and the editor helped me visualize rhythm when listening to music. (I am a music student)
Finding vocal and background beats and rhythms wasn’t really hard for me when i first started mapping because ive been in band and have played multiple instruments for 4+ years
What is that skin at 7:30? Please someone link it :c
it looks like clearback with different slider rim colours and a different cursor
i started mapping when i was like 2 months into the game.
pishi can you make a series where you review beatmaps and point out the good and the bad things about them sent by your viewers?
I actually make most of my repeat sliders through timeline scrolling while placing them, pls don't take that away it will take an entire minute to get used to having to drag the sliderend.
Actually didn't even know you could do that until well after my first serious map which was 7 minutes long.
5:43 since you said that, pls try map mania pishi
I like mapping extreme difficulties, normally the hardest difficulty, but I never really listened to the instruments much and I feel a lot worse about my mapping now but thanks for all the info :P
I assume this means you're applying to be a mentor in the upcoming mentorship cycle
what the last guys skin?
Is it bad that im trying to focus on vocals every map Or should i focus on different sounds when making higher or lower difficulties?
Im a experienced player but new to mapping.
That last part cracked me up!
hanairo biyori is still not linked in the description of the video about score v2 and the 9:00 map in ranking process as well
I wish I could get that help from you xD
But this vid was rly interesting n1
How did I get here? Why am I watching this? But it's interesting.
I was just mapping, then I stopped mapping because I finished a diff and saw this video. Thanks Pishi, you upload videos at just the right times.
Oh yeah, and regarding new mappers, when I started mapping in 2013, I sucked. Then in I guess 2015 or something, I stopped mapping for some reason. Then back in maybe December 2017, I started mapping again. I deleted my old maps because they were, well... Too bad to keep. Obviously, the first new map wasn't very good either. Looking back, it's kind of like a bland 2011 map. It had sort of a weird rhythm so it's probably not good for me to map even now. But still, it was an okay map. Not good, but okay for someone who just came back to mapping.
Now I've made 9 maps since 2017, but I don't think any of them are rankable (except the Taiko-only ones, maybe). Oh yeah, and I'm trying to map a whole album. Because that's smart. Luckily it's just Taiko, which I'm experienced in so I should know a lot about it. Plus it's really simple, pretty much anyone could map a rankable Taiko map.
(plzmodmymapsplzmodmymapsplzmodmymapsplzmodmymaps)
question! does it help if u know about music theory?
no, understanding the rhythm of the drum and intensity of the music are basic knowledge to make a map, not music theory
what skin do you use?
02:14 finally, a nose reveal!
low key worried one of my maps would be used as a bad example.
That was pretty fun to watch.
What song plays at 7:36?
as a mapper with a year of experience in the editor...
*struggles to shape sliders in a complex style*
I just started mapping... accidentally making it too hard is one problem that I am facing. Are there ways to prevent that?
less circles less spacing. watch videos ask questions in game
Make the ranking higher than you intended. It's fine then. xD Unless you expect a god to struggle then you're fine. :3
just try to set a 'target audience' just make sure that whatever youre making is suitable for them
What if you're a new mapper, but good at making maps like centipede or aspire or just idk maps overall
I'm trying to do my first beatmap and im having trouble in almost every single aspect of it(i think ive got the bpm atleast). The song is the megalobox theme by Mabanua. Can someone help me out?
is it me or is the *Hello There* louder than usual ?
I think beginner mapper should start with a harder difficulity rock based song because it tick a lot and and easier to follow rythm
blanket
12:50 holy shit so true
i actually preferred your friend's map of A Genesis lol
12:49 preach.
Why the fuck is mapping so fucking hard, i feel like i undestand the theory but just cant fucking put it into practice
Mind teaching me how to map? i want to map despacito 2 lol
JumpingJack22 so do I but i cant map lol.
how make sotarks pp map
I used to hate the repeating slider thing, it really is so unintuitive
Skin?
Anyone else hearing the voice from ``Yes Theory``?
My problem on mapping is timing the notes right ;-;
In this video: Pishi dunks on his sister
i would love to learn how to make a good osu map that maybe could go ranked. Your videos help a lot but i still need improvement. If you could teach me for a price i would love to give it a shot!
I'd pay money for you to make a class on mapping.
Did your sister ever watch this video?
You said 354 times any word with Map like Mapping, Mapper, Map, Mapped.
i just ate sushi
cant be as bad as new mania mappers
0:48 me in a nutshell
hi
bye
*Hello there!
Im just gonna say it. Why am I able to see everything but the bullshit exact timings of japanese syllables after playing for osu! for one week. And only playing !taiko mostly. Am i the chosen one?
thats me
The problem is when you are a music producer and start making osu maps... I'm so attached to rhythm and variation in instruments that my maps are basically unplayable for anyone who doesn't know the song completely. Ughhh
cya at the bng
This is actually really cute.
I want 9:47 skin pls
oh jesus
please rank escape
You have a sister!?!?!
From my experience, lots of people have sisters. Who would have thought pishi was an exception to this 🙃
No it's a fucking dog
HELLO THERE

Can you be my school teacher?
