    Dear Ben, THANK YOU so much for this review. I ordered the long wheelbase version with all available options in April, and am hoping delivery will be in September. My wife uses a mobility scooter, so will fit a hoist into the boot. Our first big trip will be six adults off to Croatia - so will need roof bars and roof box!
    GREAT REVIEW.

    I had reason to hire a van in November 2017 from Arnold Clark in my town.
    I had decided that a Renault Kangoo or Citroen Berlingo size was a bit too small for what I needed so I opted for what is dubbed a mid-range van which includes a VW Transporter and the Peugeot Expert.
    It was the new style Peugeot Expert that I was given, 5 speed manual diesel and very comfortable. Lovely vehicle to drive. As the man from Arnold Clark described it was just like driving a big car.
    Classy, well-built 17-reg.
    Would hire one again in a heartbeat.

    I have noticed in my new peugeot traveller that has a Hud fitted Is Because it lacks left right adjustment of the image projected on to the screen you have to move your head to see the full display when the sat Nav is active (the unit is not centred or aligned correctly in relation to the drivers seat/head position ,this is compounded by the fact like many other people have a weak left eye so the image is shifted to the right as i see it.obviously this is effect reversed if you have a weak right eye .ether the unit needs redesigned so that the HUD module or image can be adjusted for left and right orientation rather than just height .i have found it quite annoying. thanks for making your videos they where a great help.

    I've been saying this for years about the size of SUV's like the Audis, BMWs, Range Rovers being a total waste when you can have a mini-bus for almost the same wheel-base.
    These 'Tour' vans have been very popular on mainland Europe for decades with the Renault Trafic/Opel Vivaro still the leader on price-features and easiest to drive like a car.
    Brits tend to care more about image than practicality though, hence being a big buyer of the lux SUVs.
    The problem now if these become popular in Britain, is the small parking spaces and narrow streets, tiny garages compared to mainland Europe. Britain's housing policy is aimed at densly populating as cheap as possible using big corporates. Polar opposite of Mainland Europe where you rarely see housing estates and when you do they are spacious with 'side of house parking'.

      Most people who get SUV or MPV have 3 children. These larger MPVs are better suited to people with either more children or need more storage capacity.

    I finally got my Citroen Spacetourer equivalent this week after a nearly 9 month wait. Early indications are that it will be great for the job. Economy is slighty better than expected (its a 1.6 manual). The only criticisms so far are the low geared steering, the handbrake being slighty out of reach and the lack of dashboard storage space. I really like the reversing camera. The car would be difficult to park without it.

    This is brilliant, I have the same model etc on order to lease. I haven't been able to see one in a garage so have taken a gamble! It's reassuring to know you're happy with it and works for a large family. One thing I haven't been able to confirm is whether you are able to turn the second row seats around (so that the second and third face each other like the vw caravelle and Mercedes Vito). Would you mind advising? There's still no models local to me to go and have a look at. Many thanks, Laura

      @100benih  7 лет назад

      Laura Burgan I can check in the morning (camping at the moment) but from what I remember the seat belts are attached to the sides of the car so not sure how you'd strap yourself in, the belt clip is also fixed to the seat so probably not.

    Thx for the great review, which is by far the most comprehensive in the English language on RUclips. I have the Citroen equivalent on order, to a slightly lower spec and found your review answered many of the questions that I had. I particularly was impressed with the ease of use of the touch screen interface and the rear camera. I don't have a large family but want the car mainly for hobbies such as camping or carrying bikes inside which the removable seats will make so easy. Have you had a chance to use the radar cruise control or emergency autobrake yet? How effective are they ? The van versions have a reputation with larger drivers for feeling cramped because of the bulkhead behind the drivers seat, I presume that is not a problem in your version for 6 footer ? Finally there seems to have been some criticism of the vagueness of the steering by some testers, how do you find it?

    • @100benih
      @100benih  7 лет назад

      I don't have radar cruise (it's a £250 option), just normal cruise and speed limiter (very useful for road works with speed restrictions).
      I slammed by breaks on yesterday when some kid walked in front of the car, its stopped pretty quickly but i was only going a few miles an hour, the breaks are really smooth and light for such a big car.
      Its not cramped at all, there is lots of room for the driver, but later i will try and lower the seat as far as possible and see how much head room is left.
      The steering is bit different from my last cars but this is a van so don't expect it to be the same, its very easy to steer, not much feedback but really you don't notice. You feel like the king of the road because you're so high up..its great!

      Thanks for the extra info, excellent. Unfortunately there is a long wait for my car, but I am hopeful that it will be with me by the end of November. I just noticed that the Camera also allows for the tow bar in the composite aerial image, which is great as I will have a fixed tow bar and it will prevent me 'parking by ear' as rear sensors rarely allow for the extra 6 inches that the bar sticks out. Thanks again.

    • @100benih
      @100benih  7 лет назад

      I ordered mine mid Feb and it took 4 months and 1 week, I heard the Long version might take longer. I have a lease so opted for a Peugeot fit towbar, if you are fitting your own you will need vehicle specific wiring to ensure the parking sensors operate correctly.

    • @Pesmog
      @Pesmog 7 лет назад

      Thx Ben, I went for the factory fit bar as unlike some manufacturers Citroen charge a sensible price for it, so it was an easy decision to include it in the factory order.

    • @100benih
      @100benih  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Ogotuwa. It's was mainly down to spec, the Allure has more standard kit than any other van on the market and with the lease deals nothing could touch the Peugeot Traveller for price. Check out my blog for some updates in what I like and don't like about the Traveller, remember no van is perfect. peugeottraveller.wordpress.com/2017/08/16/peugeot-traveller-the-good-the-bad-and-the-wish-list/

    By far the best review ever on that car and a very, very informative blog. Thank you so much, Ben! Good job!
    I now have the exact same version (Allure L2) for a test-drive over the weekend. The registration date is April 2017, but it seems to have no Android Auto connectivity... Do you maybe know when this was implemented?
    When you extend the trunk by moving the last row max forward, it actually is not possible to use the car with 6 occupants in the rear in a comfortable way, right? It seems to be awfully narrow...
    Also, for all the guys thinking about ordering the rear-facing seats in the second row (as I do): if you choose the business VIP version, you can have a full bench of 3 seats in the third row and two single seats in the second (with an optional table in between, if needed or wanted). If you have more than three toddlers who need to be fastened, you can get them into the car simultaneously, without having to fasten the third row first, while the rest has to wait outside. Also I hope to get some extra space for the trunk by the fact, that row 2 and 3 face each other....
    Last question: Ben, you mentioned, that there was no place for the cell. Where do you use to keep it while driving?

    • @100benih
      @100benih  7 лет назад

      tomtomjohnify The car in the base Allure spec gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so it's probably your phone, are you running the correct OS?
      Moving the rear most seats forward a few clicks (and not the whole way) is a good compromise for space as my kids don't use the acres of legroom anyway. It's only at the weekend we're all together so for the most part is fully forward.
      The Business VIP spec seems different to the Allure, might want to go through it with a fine tooth comb, I don't think park 180 is standard on VIP where as it is on Allure.
      The phone I have (iPhone 7 Plus) hangs out quite a bit but the tension of the mini cable being plugged in keeps it in place, only about twice has it come out with some sharp up hill acceleration. Details of the brochure and cable on my blog.

    • @tomtomjohnify
      @tomtomjohnify 7 лет назад

      Thanks for the reply!
      I use a Sony Xperia XZ (Android 7.x). Should work with Android Auto.... But the menu doesn't even offer this, when pushing the button with the four squares on the right of the screen. It only says Apple CarPlay (grey) and MirrorLink. MirrorLink indeed isn't supported on my phone, only on older ones. I'll ask my dealer about this.
      I'm worried about the trunk/legroom-thing because we'll have to carry a pram AND four passangers most of the time. When I extend the trunk, to make the folded buggy fit in there, there is not too much space left for the rear seats. Besides I propably would have a hard time, getting something else (e.g. a beverage crate) in there. Still unsure. I actually don't want to get the L3-Version, since this would propably involve reduced suitability for daily use.

    • @100benih
      @100benih  7 лет назад

      tomtomjohnify Our phil and ted's goes in sideways without having to move the seats forward. The mini parcel shelf is really useful for when the boot is full, and we put our cool box between the front seats. Have you checked the rear seats were not tilted back, it may have reduced the room a bit. L3 is bit too big, reduced mpg and higher lease prices compared to L2.

    It's taking them too much time to implement wireless charging pads in vehicles especially this size they should have no problem to find room to place it. i know some pickup trucks have it on recent models, but common wireless charging is about 5 years old and we still getting distracted in vehicles by plugin tiny cables in phones.

    • @100benih
      @100benih  6 лет назад

      tallll70 Wireless CarPlay has only been adopted by BMW which means regardless of your charge method you still need to plug in to use CarPlay and Android Auto (music, maps, calls etc). Understand some of that can run over BT but not all.

    • @tallll70
      @tallll70 6 лет назад

      ok, i hear you, for that case i'm interested more of Android OS module available for Uconnect i have, instead of phone mirroring. That will add Android OS to infotainment and phone is only used as hotspot. But i just hope they will start adopting wireless charging for cars fast, regardless phone mirroring or not. I mean they can have some sort of vertical boots if space is limited.

    Hello Ben,
    thanks a lot for this great review. We would like to ask you about the power rear doors. We are thinking about buying the Traveller for our family so my husband and I have borrowed the car for this weekend. However, we are a little bit disconcerted from the power rear doors. Firstly, we tried to open them in our garage way - and it's rather steep (about 18% angle). The doors were twitching during the opening and closing process. Secondly, we stopped on a slope with a smaller inclination (about 10% angle). The doors twitched only once at the beginning of the opening process and then move on smoothly. Could you please share your experience? Many thanks, Martin and Jana

    • @100benih
      @100benih  7 лет назад

      Hello Jana. I have not opened the doors whilst parked on a hill as it's mostly flat where I live but I will endeavour to find a hill and try this out, i'm hoping they lock into place when opened as I wouldn't want them accidentally closing. Will reply back when I know more...

      it's very nice of you. Thank you for your kind cooperation:) Please be careful and first read user's manual about this power rear opening/closing door. They write that it's dangerous and the door could close or open suddenly, but they refer to hill upwards 20%... Thanks again. Jana

      Hi Ben, hope you have a great time with your car;) We really have:) Just wondering about the rear doors again. Sometimes when I park at a slightly steep (definitely not so steep as before) road there is some crunching noise during the closing process... Have you got the same experience?

    I, personally don't really like leather seats.
    For me, they are overrated and to be quite frank I can't stand them as nobody really wants a burnt bottom.
    There was a review of the Peugeot 3008 by very well respected Motoring journalist Juliet McGuire down in South Africa and she loved the sort of denim like material used in the review she had done for a week.

    • @100benih
      @100benih  2 года назад

      From the family point of view it’s easier to clean spills and mess of leather than material. I unfortunately have first hand experience in doing both.
      I also carried a reflective foil windshield cover around so heat wasn’t that much of a problem in the summer months.

    I ordered my Traveller on 25th of May and I still haven’t got it. The salesman emailed me yesterday to say it will be January at the earliest now. I’m seriously thinking about cancelling my order and getting my deposit back. Terrible service from Peugeot all round.

    Hey Ben, could you explain your reasoning for buying an automatic with 180bhp?
    When I started looking into this car I also looked at this setup but lately I'm getting some doubts. I was comparing its specs with the 150bhp manual variant and they are almost identical, except for the torque and the fuel consumption. It got me wondering if buying the automatic really justifies spending 2500€ more.
    Don't get me wrong, I'm currently driving an automatic and it comes in handy in a number of ways but the price tag and the lack of performance difference with the two engine options in Traveller are really throwing me of.
    Kind regards

    • @100benih
      @100benih  7 лет назад

      Hi. I lease the Traveller and the cost of going auto was only a few pounds more, I do about 13,000 miles a year and cannot be bothered to pump a clutch for all that distance. It’s a great auto box, very smooth and easy going. If the cost was £50/month more I probably would have second thought. I’m in my 7th year of owning autos and love them but some people hate them, personal and financial choice really.

    Ben, thanks for a really useful review. I have been looking at a variety of ways to suit my smaller family but with a lot of camping equipment and a penchant for luxury :). The Traveller is a very promising option I hadn't considered. We test drove a Merc V class today and it was fab but, unsurprisingly, very very expensive. It also doesn't have some of the neat features your described in your review of the Traveller, at least not without being cost options. What annoys me is that my local dealers don't carry any demonstrators of the Traveller; I live in the West country and I've tried Barnstaple, Exeter, Plymouth, Salisbury and Taunton, so there is no way for me to get a feel for the car before taking the plunge. Can I ask did you demo the car before leasing? The Plymouth dealer also said it wasn't in production yet which seems impossible given your video and the fact that you have one!

    • @100benih
      @100benih  7 лет назад

      Peter Earnshaw Hi Peter. I test drove the 90bhp Traveller Active (Std), which was all I could get my hands on, it's was Ok but nothing like the Allure. The v class is amazing, one packed near me, I have van envy but is it work £50k+, probably not. I ordered in Feb and it's been in production since then, but that was for standard lengths. Other may be delayed, not sure. Check out my blog for more details and pictures... peugeottraveller.wordpress.com

      Ben, thanks, I appreciate your reply. I have located a demo one in Poole which is 2h away but possibly worth combining a trip with a visit to friends nearby. For me, as I have only two children ('only' two children is enough!) it's not so much about the extra seats as the extra capacity for camping gear, which we keep acquiring. Plus my kids are both

    • @peterearnshaw1017

    I received an email from Peugeot U.K yesterday to say that Peugeot France have now put “Severe Constraints” on manufacturing and they have put production back again so production would be January at the earliest for a delivery of March. I have cancelled my order and got my deposit back. I think it’s disgusting that anyone should have to wait at least ten months for a car and if I were you I’d contact Citroen to chase yours up because you might never get it.

    Did you consider the Citroen or Toyota versions at all and do you know if they're much the same?
    Also, I was interested to hear you used to have a Q7. I imagine big SUVs like that to have some other drivers not let them out of junctions etc. as much and wondered if this had been your experience and if it altered with the Traveller?
    Also, hats off for raising 5 kids! We have two and would struggle with a third!

    • @100benih
      @100benih  7 лет назад

      Will - Thanks for your comments, I looked at the Traveller, Toyota ProAce Verso and Spacetourer but found the best kit for the money on the Peugeot. I lease cars and Peugeot are still offering great deals on the Traveller (my blog has link to the top model Allure at only £250 a month, which is a steal for a £40k car). The Q7 was great and I didn't really think anyone treated me differently although I do feel I let more van drivers out now, probably because we now see eye to eye. Raising 3 kids isn't much different to 2 but 5 has its own unique challenges, my wife is great with the kids and handles it very well, she's from a big family so it's nothing new. More details on the traveller here... peugeottraveller.wordpress.com

    First off, it's a commercial vehicle that has windows, seats and electric seats added. My (range topping) Expert 180 8 sp auto has most of these features BUT... plastics are horrible, infotainment is really poor compared to my last van a Renault Trafic with R link, yes it does have guide me home lights...just like my wifes 11 year old Seat Altea.... .
    What is great about the Expert/Traveller/5008/3008 is the refinement in road noise and suspension feel. Paint is also much better than the Renault...the 180 reversing camera IS a disapointment compared to the Renault although pictures are sort of clearer in the Peugeot.
    WHEN will a manufacturer take owner driver commercial vehicles seriously? VW pretend to but still manufacture to a standard of a basic polo or UP then charge you £40-50K for the pleasure of owning it.
