      Majority of animals in captivity were rescued or born there, and the reason they are there is that the veterinarians believe they wouldn’t survive in the wild. So yeah you can look at it as cruel due to limited space etc, but with aquatic life it’s hard to give that space in such an enclosed environment. And at the end of the day they are doing what’s best for the animals.

      @@thatmummalife3264 It's not generic. 100 of males and some females fins flop. Only about 1 % happens the those in the wild. The fin flop is not a good sign for the orca.

      Their fins do that only in captivity. Scientists think that it might have something to do with the fact that they swim thousands of miles normally and therefore use their fins as a rudder. Google for the rest.

      @@BbDoodles unfortunately orcas born in captivity or that live in captivity for too long cannot be released back. Orcas must be taught behavioral skills to survive in the ocean currents meaning they die if they are released.

      It should be, but what if it can't? Ever heard of animal rescue? Compassion for animals that can't survive in the wild? Seems less compassionate to say they should all be in the wild regardless.

      Who CARES IF IT WAS SAVED IN THE WILD. It’s miserable in captivity, and you are just prolonging it’s miserable death by saving it and bringing it somewhere its going to HATE. Look at it’s fin, it’s flopped over. Look at how small that tank is, orcas need entire oceans to thrive. If it was rescued it shouldn’t have been, it would’ve been killed off quicker instead of having to endure years of torture in a confined space having to entertain people for a couple fish.

      @ConnorDoesGames2 it's sad, isn't it 😔 not sure how old you are to remember this. But the movie free Willey they used a real whale for part of it named keko. They had raised money to set him free but he was so dependent on humans he didn't know how to hunt for food. And he kept following the boats. He died not long after his release because he got pneumonia it was so heartbreaking 💔

      illegal to obtain new orcas via purchase/ trade/ breeding. This poor soul was already in captivity when the rules changed, and setting them free is complex and costly so seaworld chooses to keep making profits

      I did too. Supposedly Sea World shut down its Orca program when the trainer was killed and 2 separate whales died of what only was classified as depression. So sad.

      ​@@Neon0803 orcas are harmless to humans in the wild. They only attack in captivity because, those animals have such a large and emotional brain, they get depressed hard Mode style. There are orcas that k*lled themselves because they were misstreated for years as attractions.
      Their brains are so highly developed they form their own cultures, their own languages, they feel the same emotions as us but way more intense.
      People should be ashamed to treat them for show in themeparks

    There was a whale named Willy with the bent dorsal fin and it was because he wanted to be free and with his pod, whales are not solitary animals they live with their families. They should free that poor whale 😢

      Much much deeper than most people realize, it's not as deep as open ocean but they are actually able to move around

      Only the main preforming pool is deep 50 feet I think. The rest aren’t deep enough

      Was at sea world 2 weeks before the orca killed the trainer. He had refused to perform that day. Has Sea World learned nothing!!

      Some of the pools where they are stored between shows are so shallow their tails drag on the bottom. It’s awful.

    Killer whales produce whistles, echolocation clicks, pulsed calls, low-frequency pops, and jaw claps. A killer whale makes sounds by moving air between nasal sacs in the blowhole region. In contrast, a human makes sound by forcing air through the larynx.

    The fin isn't just slightly hanging,it is literally touching the side of this beautiful creature. It is in bad shape. Orcas in captivity only live 30-50 years,but in the wild they live to be 70-90.

      @@CoreyMillionaire2029 6 to 7 feet is incredibly tall that is even more horrific to know oh my goodness absolutely heart wrenching to know that these incredibly intelligent animals are being kept to slaves essentially and die having the worst quality life. I wish that people cared about the well-being of animals, especially as we learn to understand that they are smarter than we would like to believe:(

    This is heartbreaking. You know why Corey’s fin is down? The tank is to small, the orca is bored as frack and a crap diet. They need space to swim so that the muscles that aid the fin to stay up aren’t strong enough. These are majestic creatures and we humans are hurting them!

    they use their clicks and sonar etc to tell density. they know we are not we animals, they know we have different bones and that we have different “feedback”, it’s the same way they know a seal and a shark are different from miles away. they don’t hurt us on purpose

    I dont mind the fact at loro parque in tenerife they have orcas but they are treated and kept well and they are ones that wouldnt cope in the wild due to beign blind, echolocation not working and another that is disabled they rescued

    Remember when the trainer so tragically got killed by the killer whale, it will Disney World as he just freaked out.
    We must remember these animals were not meant for captivity, and it breaks my heart. Anyone gets hurt and we forget they are not here to entertain us.
