I absolutely must recommend the other Hellenic black metal band from Greece: Rotting Christ. Particularly Kata Ton Daimona Eyatoy and Elthe Kyrie

I am so grateful they uploaded the whole concert! The theatre, the orchestra, the audience and the fabulous performance of the band! Simply overwhelming.
I have been a loyal fan since Esoptron (and immediately got me the debut plus the demos back then) and it was easy to see that they have always been destined for evolving into the absolutely best band when it comes to Death/Doom/Black Metal combined with classical and symphonical elements.
Much respect to Chris for developing this into perfection.
So every aspect of this band, lyrics, artwork, music, appearance, is serving as a mindblowing piece of art for itself.
In combination... not of this world!

Fuck yeah! This is a classic! You absolutely gotta check out the entire Communion album, especially Sangreal and Anubis. There's just something about older Septicflesh that's got a unique feeling.
If you're a fan of the drum work in this, you should check out Decapitated - the band Krimh played drums in before Septicflesh. "Homo Sum" really shows off how much of a monster he is on the double bass kicks. Also worth noting, Decapitated's old material before Krimh joined is also excellent, if you like older style death metal.

Bloody Hell, not sure what that was but it got me hyped. Probably shouldn't have watched this just before my bedtime lol. Love the contrasts in this with the innocence of the choir and the dark brutality of it, and of course your genuine reaction. This is what music can do for us hey, great stuff.

I heavily recommend the song Therianthropy, from their album The Great Mass. Its a must listen. Brutally Powerful. I saw this band live in 2009 at the Gothic Theatre in Englewood Colorado, US when they were on tour with Cradle of Filth and Satyricon. I walked back to the restroom and then when I came out the band was standing at the front table meeting fans. This was when Fotus was still with Septicflesh. Each of these gentlemen are absolutely the nicest people you could ever meet. They introduced themselves, and I had a quick cordial conversation with them. I've been a supporter of these lads and the talent they bring to their music and the family atmosphere they give to their fans. If you have the chance to see them live, Go! Go! Go! You will not regret it! 😊

For more symphonic metal, check out Mors Principum Est - "Apprentice of Death" "Reclaim the Sun" "Death is the Beginning" "God Has Fallen" "We Are the Sleep" or "Monster in Me" are all great tracks. Also, have you checked out Carach Angren yet? I don't know them as much, but they seem very similar to Septicflesh - very theatrical and dark.

I just found out about your channel today and I am enjoying your videos very much. Count me in now! Septicflesh is one of the best death metal bands imo. the deep guteral is almost en par with Amorphis sound I think.
From the few videos I watched so far, I guess you also would like Draconian. I would love to know what you think of the band. Good starting point will be "Draconian - sorrow of sophia" or "pale tortured blue". Cheers brother!

I'll continue to say "Dark Art" needs to be done in the Septicflesh journey (it has a live performance from this same concert, but I slightly prefer the album version), as well as honestly a lot of the Communion album (Lovecraft's Death is a tribute to all things dark and horror, Babel's Gate is unbelievably heavy, Persepolis is a full story, etc)

That must have cost a fortune to put on. Classical symphony orchestras and choirs are not cheap and they need rehearsal and their parts writing out.
I assume this being in 2020 was their 30th anniversary concert and normally they have backing tapes of the symphonic elements.
That looked Mahler sized orchestra and choir.

I have never seen a band with an orchestra and choir
though I have seen many big choral works
including the Symphony of a Thousand by Mahler
With a huge orchestra, two full adult choirs
      and a children's choir.
They took over part of the auditorium
      to stage this.

love it. You should definitely do the whole live show, I have it on bluray, it's great! When you want to take a break from Septicflesh in reactions, I suggest you try Triptykon, the follower band from Celtic Frost. If you really love that dark, heavy and twisted sound, you will not be disappointed.
