Amos interceded with God, and God listened and decided to not destroy Israel. The prayers of a righteous man seem to be effectual, a common theme in scripture. How much more effectual must be the prayers of those who have gone on to be in the presence of God (the saints 😊)!
Amen, brother. This is my go to channel whenever I finish an Old Testament book. I come here for explanation. I’m grateful to the Lord for your ministry. I pray it’s reaching souls for Christ.
Thank you sir. What a blessing. I was about to start Amos. Wanted to get a quick background. I was already subscribed and knew you were responsible and thorough. Thank you sir
@Brenda Sullivan He was a shepherd although the Hebrew word used suggests sheep breeder, possibly also a herdsman. He also took care of sycamore-fig trees.
Really? The personal application is God can use anyone? Nothing about helping the poor, which God hounds on Israel for 4 whole chapters and half of another (Amos 2:6-6:14) Listen, I'm not trying to push for communism or socialism, but the top 3 lessons learned from the book of Amos are: 1) Do not become cold to the poor and needy, 2) Help the poor and needy (again, doesn't need to be on a government scale), 3) Worship become meaningless if you do not love your neighbor as yourself
"Listen, I'm not trying to push for communism or socialism, ..." LOL! Wow, that came out of nowhere. The fact that you have immediately deny this me that's exactly your leaning. Amos does talk about the poor. But that's in no way the main point.
Just a shepperd, just a fisherman just a carpenter. Just a servant of God.
God will use even you! Ordinary people, got uses people who are willing to do what He says❤
