He called me to read The Book of Nahum last night. I do a daily devotional read in the morning which consists of one word and scriptures and preachings around that word. I got COMFORT! Its September 30, 2023 and I want to share this. the night before, I had a dream about a prophet appearing in a town that was filled with hurting people. I heard the name Nahum. Every time I would hear his name mentioned, the people rejoiced because he was here. Not saying that he was God but he was sent to bring relief. I wish I knew what this dream meant and why I dreamt it. This story is good and I pray that I get a clear understanding about it.
TMH didn’t forget about His chosen people who have been scattered and oppressed to this day by all these nations. Just like the prophecy that Nahum gave Nineveh so is TMH saying to these nations around the world. Destruction and judgement is coming. Repent and get your life right with TMH. Seek His truth and it shall set you free. Shalom ❤
As I was listening to this overview as I prepare to read the Book of Nahum I could not help but think about the many wars going on today where there are oppressive and arrogant countries killing innocent people. May the Lord have mercy on us!
Listening to this reminds me of all of the violence quickly escalating in the US right now, and in many other countries. It's so sad to see how quickly we are becoming like Sodom and Gomorrah: Violent, without self control, evil, hateful, etc.

These videos really help me know where to start when I read a new book of the Bible. Thank you Bible Project for enhancing understanding in other’s walk with Christ.
Your comment at 1:57 caught me off guard since the very first sentence of chapter 1 states that this is an “oracle of Nineveh” (I read the NASB translation). That aside, I have been using these overviews to help me gain a clearer understanding of the Old Testament and have found them extremely helpful! Thank you for these. As a visual learner, the animations are IMMENSELY helpful in putting it all together in my head. God bless!
Love the Bible Project! It gives a wonderful overview of the book before reading. When reading the chapters it gives you a greater in-depth study and understanding.
Dear Brother, May The LORD bless and keep you. You are presenting exquisite pearls of great Wisdom in your brief but pithy summaries/“redactionettes” of each Book of the Holy Bible. I am an elder of 75 years of age all of them hopefully being of Service to the Will of the Kingdom of Heaven. Your redactions with brilliant drawings are an EXCELLENT preview or a good review of each book. You waste no words nor do you loose time. Who can’t afford six mutes while waiting for a bus or waiting for a spouse to come out of the grocery store. Your voice indicates a man of less than 35 years, but your knowledge trebles that age. Are you just the narrator of a script-writing team, or is this all your own work. I myself have been called to open three different levels of Biblical exegesis for the world via RUclips, but every time I try to start something prevents me from proceeding. It is either the LORD or it is the adversary. But I have three to four thousand hours of talks all outlined and memorized in my head. I would ask you and all fellow true CHRISTians to pray for me that this attack will end and that HIS Will be done; on earth as it is in Heaven +brothermark+
Wow! It’s really amazing and maybe eye opening how we repeatedly make the same mistakes over and over and over. Even when we THINK we have done something good.
And now they've found more scrolls with the same message. NOTHING is coincidental with Holy Spirits timing. Really blessed by your labour. God's favour and Jesus blood on you and all pertaining to you.
The old testament is so hard to read. You and your team is a blessing yo people like me. This makes it easier to understand and “paint a picture” lol god bless brothers and sisters
Really you all are doing a great things for students who is learning God's word I also so much blessed with this videos . Please continue doing this for God's Glory. I pray for your team every day
Now that wrapped up my reading of Nahum so wonderfully! The first chapter as I read it sounded really hopeful for God's people and I said to myself "Man, to be on that other side of God's wrath 👀😬" And then came the rest of the chapter and how horrific it came to an end, and as expected of God's goodness, justice was served... but it was written in such a dark way... (?) especially the last verse "...all who hear news of you will clap their hands over you, for upon whom had not your wickedness passed continually?" sounded to me like a dramatic version of "serves you right! you got what you deserved!" haha Again, thank you BibleProject for this! I am hopeful and certain that God is working through our times right now ❤️
Hello. Which version do you use? At around the 2:00 mark you mentioned that the book does not mention Nineveh in chapter 1, but my NIV mentions it in v8, v11, v14. I think yout commentary is inaccurate?
Thanks for pointing out that "Nineveh" and "Assyria" are not mentioned in ch. 1 (that is after the opening introductory statement 1:1) because the version I am reading has "Nineveh" in v. 8 and Assyria in v. 13. However, looking at the footnotes I see, "her" and "his". I would have completely missed your consideration from ch. 1.
Yes, we all are sinners BuT God always gave us a plan of redemption to get right with him. Redemption was always something of great value. A blood sacrifice. There is life in the blood. The Old Testament the redemption was a pure animal sacrifice. The New Testament Jesus became that blood sacrifice that cleanses us from our sin. He took our punishment upon himself. Maggie C , on youtube go to: how to humble yourself by derek prince. His teachings are awesome, you will really enjoy his teachings, true man of God, God bless.
Your Biblical and spiritual analysis are spot on. Just a thought about Assyrians as "one of the World's first great empires". That kinda ignores the Empires in China that predated this by up to a millennium, and other Empires in the Western Hemisphere such as the Olmec which also predated this by up to a millennium. Thanks for your great scriptural animation/analysis!
As a filmmaker, I truly appreciate the excellence of your work in all of your videos. This video leaves me with a question: You say at 1:59 that Nahum, “nowhere mentions Nineveh…in chapter 1” But when I read, ““The burden against Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.” Nahum 1:1 NKJV” Nineveh is mentioned right there. What am I missing?
For one of the minor prophets thats often overlooked, Nahum has a wonderful message of the LORDs stedfast love and care for those that trust in him! In fact, Nahum 1:7, the verse mentioned at the end, is my life verse and I have it tattooed on my chest as my only tat! Every time I look into the mirror I am reminded of Gods faithfulness and that in return I need to be faithful to him.
Thanks for all your hard work, I love them all but I especially enjoy the old testament overviews, as some of the old testament books confuse me in what is going on and who certain people are, these videos help tremendously.
What a blessing it is to watch these videos. Thanks a lot 'The Bible Project' for making these videos. Helped me a lot. May the Lord Bless you more for being a blessing to many. Love from India.
I love your videos, because I get a sense of the bigger picture. That said, I found 3-4 mentions of Nineveh in chapter 1, in different Bible translations (the video says there are none). That means that even if the hebrew words are not "Nineveh" literally, the allusion to Nineveh is strong enough to have convinced several translators to write "Nineveh". I understand a video like this can't go into this discussion, but I'm left with a sense that one of the big points of the video is made on a shaky ground.
All of the major translations that are known for their strict fidelity to the wording of the Hebrew text (NRSV, ESV, NASB, NKJV) do not mention Nineveh in chapter 1 outside of verse 1.
So, I just read further down the comments and came across one that stated that in footnotes, another translation used "him" and "her" where I read "Nineveh" in the NIV. Now I want to check the NASB and several other translations. It behooves us to be like the Bereans, examining scripture carefully.
Okay, I know this is such a stupid thing to get hung up on. But the images you guys drew of all the following nations after Rome; I know what all of them are (I think), except for the one right after Rome- the one with "etc." beneath it. I know the guy is holding a Dane axe and a kite shield, but I can't tell if that's a Frank, or a Visigoth, or a Byzantine Varangian guard, etc. If you guys see this, I'd like an answer, but it won't kill me if I don't get an answer- I promise. Lol love the channel, and keep up the good work!
I love ❤ 😍 your overviews of each story of the Biblical stories cause you do an excellent job explaining each story of the Bible Thank you 😀. The art 🎨 😀 work is fantastic too thanks. 😇 👼 😇 👼 🙏 🤲 ⛪ 💒 ☦ May everyone watching 👀 and listening 🎶 ♥ be blessed take care.
Thank you SO much! I was reading the Book of Nahum, and really thought that it was only about Niniveh. But through that Bible study, I now understand the whole content of the book! Thank you so much for your videos and especially that they are for free!😭💖 One of the greatest gift that one can give, is the Word of God. And you are doing that, in making it easier to understand! So that we can get to know God better!😢❤❤ May the Lord bless the whole Bible Project TEAM!💎
I think in the video said that there was no mentioning of the name Nineveh in Nahum: Nahum 1:1 (KJV) The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite. Nahum 2:8 (KJV) But Nineveh [is] of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, [shall they cry]; but none shall look back. Nahum 3:7 (KJV) And it shall come to pass, [that] all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?
ISAIAH 34 - NAHUM “For the indignation of the Lord is against all nations, and His fury against all their armies; He has utterly destroyed them, He has given them over to the slaughter.” (Isaiah 34:2) WORDS BY: FATHER "My understanding of judgment is different to people’s understanding. Many think I bring judgment because I am angry and annoyed that people have not heeded Me. But they fail to see that My judgment is My final act of love for people when all other mercy has been rejected. Whatever I do is love but when My words are belittled I will not stop performing My final act of love for the benefit of the people. Was it love when I destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah? Was it love that Lot’s wife turned into a pillar of salt simply because she turned around? Was it love that I destroyed entire nations full of men, woman and children and wiped out the entire Earth with a flood? Was it love that I struck Uzzah dead while trying to save the ark? Was it love that I was pleased to bruise My own Son who did nothing wrong? It was love and this is the side of it which you must see because you will see how unrelenting, how uncompromised and how passionate it is for you. My indignation is not against people themselves but wickedness. When you accept wickedness in your heart and choose to live in sin, judgement will follow. Judgment must come unto all unrighteousness and it is your duty to heed the warnings beforehand less you be judged also. It didn’t take long for Nineveh to fall back into sin since the time of Jonah’s warning. But they were warned of the judgment beforehand and so are My people daily. Heed Me in the times of mercy and it shall be well with you. My judgments are coming to the Earth and I am seeking those who judge themselves before I have to move My hand. Such people are carriers of My presence."
Could Nahum also be for spiritual warfare in that the enemy comes to destroy. But well will be delivered from the enemy and we cheer as Christ destroys the enemy.
Always love the vivid videos and commentaries! Just wanted to make a correction: "Interestingly, Nahum doesn't mention Nineveh in Chapter 1 and Babylon is listed as God's enemy in Chapter 2" is incorrect.
Your summaries of the books of the Bible are GREAT! Thank you! I am confused on this one: In your summary of Nahum, it is stated that the city of Nineveh is not mentioned in chapter 1. In my NIV version of the Bible, I see Nineveh stated in 3 verses: 1:8 ("but with an overwhelming flood he will make an end of Nineveh...:"); 1:11 ("From you, Nineveh, has one come forth who plots evil against the Lord and devises wicked plans."); 1:14 ("The Lord has given a command concerning you, Nineveh:..."). Can you help me understand what is meant by "Nowhere in Chapter 1 is Nineveh or Assyria mentioned." Thank you!
Just a question for anyone out there, I just read Jonah and saw how Nineveh repented before God. Did they really go back to their violent, sinful ways within the 80 year time difference of these books being written? Or was their repentance not sincere? I honestly thought the repentance of Nineveh was how their story ended. This king who fell isn’t the same king who humbled himself and repented is it?
I noticed that in the video it says Nineveh is not mentioned. In some versions like NIV and NLT it adds Nineveh at least 3x that I counted. I'm glad I watched this video because otherwise I would not have known that KJV does not mention Nineveh by name. KJV is a more reliable translation and so I would have missed that God could be talking about the spirit of Nineveh (wherever it may be found) rather than just specifically the empire of Assyria. Thank you. I watch these videos before I read a book of the bible because I like to have an overview.
As usual, beautiful and thorough I just was that Tim you would just slow down. You talk so fast and the illustrator goes so fast. I have to play the video over at least five times to understand anything I don’t know if I’m cognitively impaired or not but it’s just so fast, but again grateful this is just a positive courage by all mean

Just started chapter one today. Praise the Most High.
The Bible videos are very good and informative makes Bible study a pleasure

Excellent overview to the book of Nahum. Thank you Bible Project! 🙏🙏🙏
Who else just saw Nope in theaters and is trying to figure out how the opening scripture related to the movie?
Ch 1:1 mentions that the whole prophecy is concerning Nineveh?
Unfortunately (and fortunately) a relevant book in every generation. To God be the glory as He is a refuge for His children ❤
Lord, please forgive all our enemies because no one can withstand your wrath. Show us all mercy.
Wow. These guys are pumping them out FAST!
Yes
Thank you SO much! I was reading the Book of Nahum, and really thought that it was only about Niniveh. But through that Bible study, I now understand the whole content of the book!
Thank you so much for your videos and especially that they are for free!😭💖
One of the greatest gift that one can give, is the Word of God. And you are doing that, in making it easier to understand! So that we can get to know God better!😢❤❤
May the Lord bless the whole Bible Project TEAM!💎
❤ thank you Bible project ! praise God for he is awesome!
I think in the video said that there was no mentioning of the name Nineveh in Nahum:
Nahum 1:1 (KJV)
The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.
Nahum 2:8 (KJV)
But Nineveh [is] of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, [shall they cry]; but none shall look back.
Nahum 3:7 (KJV)
And it shall come to pass, [that] all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?
ISAIAH 34 - NAHUM
“For the indignation of the Lord is against all nations, and His fury against all their armies; He has utterly destroyed them, He has given them over to the slaughter.” (Isaiah 34:2)
WORDS BY: FATHER
"My understanding of judgment is different to people’s understanding.
Thank you so much for this summery. It gave me a much better understanding after reading.
Absolutely LOVE your work! What an amazing and important ministry. God bless you and thank you! 🙏🏼
Could Nahum also be for spiritual warfare in that the enemy comes to destroy. But well will be delivered from the enemy and we cheer as Christ destroys the enemy.
This speaks loudly as my nation is going through war, God's sovereign justice and mercy is a great console
You all do such a wonderful job illustrating for us visual folks!!
Thank you so much. God bless you one and all.
Sooo good! Thank you guys so much! This helped me understand it so much better!
Brilliant little overviews, but enough content to know what it's all about!
I’m Assyrian… Nahum is buried in my village called “Alqosh”
i watch these after i read the book theyre so good keep us the good werk
I do the same!
Always love the vivid videos and commentaries! Just wanted to make a correction: "Interestingly, Nahum doesn't mention Nineveh in Chapter 1 and Babylon is listed as God's enemy in Chapter 2" is incorrect.
I come to Nahum at a very appropriate time; Russia just invaded Ukraine. God be with the innocent.
And All The Time God Is Good
Thank you brother for your content. Well put together.
So useful! Grateful for your work!!
Fantastic! You have a great gift for teaching the Bible!
Thanks bible project!
I love the way you put it together.
God has truly gifted you in teaching! I'm astounded at how deep this is.
1:07 God’s Coming Justice
3:02 Woe 4:22 Downfall of Evil
As usual, beautiful and thorough I just was that Tim you would just slow down. You talk so fast and the illustrator goes so fast. I have to play the video over at least five times to understand anything I don’t know if I’m cognitively impaired or not but it’s just so fast, but again grateful this is just a positive courage by all mean
Thank you Bible Project team
I hear this... I am here to humble myself before my Father in Heaven.
The Book of NAHUM DOES MENTION NINIVEH AT THE BEGINNING of the book, but it's true that the poem is a warning against all powerfull arrogant cities.
it's mentioned only in some versions of the bible actually. other versions its mentioned as 'her' and 'his'.
Awesome lesson, thank you so much and God bless
Excellent overview, thank you
Nineveh is mentioned a couple of times in chapter 1.
