      they are such lovely animals to add to the family! Creating enclosures are so much fun and so relaxing, I also recommend going with a bioactive setup, it makes cleaning much easier.

    Hi! I loved your video. I’m going to be getting my own dumpy frog for Christmas this year. So I’m really excited to take care of them soon 🥹💚🐸.. I really want to set up a bio active enclosure for them but I was just wondering what was that layer you put over the drainage beads? It kinda looked like mesh but i wanted to double check!

    • @LukeMcGuireoides
      @LukeMcGuireoides Год назад +1

      Yeah, you need a mesh or that garden liner weed blocker stuff. Cheers. Hope you already figured that out and got yours though :)

      @@LukeMcGuireoides Yes I got them as babies and they’re already getting so big!!! I have two of the most dumpiest babies 😭💚🐸.. I was lucky to have gotten both a boy and girl. Suki (Boy) and Mei (Girl). Suki is already croaking and it is so loud and cute 😭💚🐸

    What substrate dirt did you use for your tree frog? And do they need heat of any sort? How do Isopods clean up a bioactive enclosure? And why did u out rocks at the bottom and where did you get your frog. Oh and also what plant is that. Thanks sorry I really want a white tree frog that's why lol 🐸

    • @mehve728
      @mehve728  2 года назад +1

      1. I used reptisoil! You can also use coco fiber (something to maintain humidity)
      2. They do need a small heat source! I recommend a heat lamp that is 25w (recommend to get one with uvb). They do well at room temp but giving them a small basking spot doesn’t hurt at all!
      3. Isopods feed off of things like animal droppings so they keep the tank clean! Also they will eat any small insects that haven’t been eaten by the frog if there are any wondering in the tank that end up dying.
      4. The rocks act as a drainage layer! That way if I’m misting the tank/watering the plants water will not be sitting in the substrate and won’t cause mold or bacteria to build in the tank.
      5. It’s a pothos plant!

      @@mehve728 oh yeah I forgot to ask, do white tree frogs need any supplements? Like calcium/D3?

    • @mehve728
      @mehve728  2 года назад +2

      @@evelyngonzalez901 thank you so much! And yes! I supplement with D3 about every other feeding and regular calcium when i’m not supplementing with D3! For the diet I recommend crickets, dubia roaches, and super worms (these more for a treat)! Also I recommend gut loading your feeder insects with vegetables and fruits (any scraps you have works!)

    hello, bug is so cute!!!!!! me and my dad want to set up one of these tanks (including a frog lol), do you have any preferred brands/types for this stuff (like the substrate and plants and decomposers)?

    • @mehve728
      @mehve728  2 года назад

      hi! thank you so much :)
      Yes I highly recommend reptisoil or coco fiber (anything that holds humidity) as far as brands go, zoomed is always a safe option which you can find at any pet store.
      for plants i recommend something sturdy like pothos. you definitely don’t want to go with a plant that needs specific care that doesn’t mix well with the care for your animal. you can also go for a bromeliad plant!
      for a cleaning crew you can go with either isopods and springtails or both! i’d go to a local pet store maybe not a chain to try and find these or you can purchase them from online sellers. isopods can get fancy but i stick with the simple powder blue, it’s honestly your choice!
      if you have any other questions please let me know!

    Why do u wear gloves if i may ask ?

    • @mehve728
      @mehve728  2 года назад +3

      Thank you for asking! I prefer wearing gloves when I handle any frog simply because I do not want to risk transferring anything that may be on my hands to the frog. Frogs are fragile animals and absorb everything through their skin! I do it just as an extra safety measure.
