I expected not much and I’m blown away how good it already is. Sound is the best of all sims, physics and athmosphere very enjoyable aswell
Go watch comaprison video of the sound with the other sims. I thought it was amazing aswell n it is good. The other sims r better sounding tho, u wont know untill u see the comparison I think overtake did a video on it 2 days ago. LMU cockpit sounds tiny compared to other sims.

@@zachdoran10 thats not the issue. The cabin sound is too tiny. If any game was simulating sound with helmet on it would sound super dogshit n terrible.
worst take I've seen, this is a quick reskin of rfactor 2 designed to farm players and trash the project.
Useful tip: right mouse button on the menu options, ie. fuel, etc and they go down by 10 every click instead of left mouse click that only reduces by one.

For AI, it’s important to do at least 4-5 laps in qualifying for them to learn. They really should make people aware of that as it was the same with rf2.

Same here, that is a real strength. iRacing netcode is terrible & AC / ACC has a fair amount of rubber banding a lot of the time.
Looks kickass, miles ahead of ACC's first early-access build. Granted, LM Ultimate is built off an existing platform, but still - Motorsport Games is under new management, this looks like it could have potential with some optimisation and bug-ironing, so I wish them well and I'm looking forward to trying this once I have my rig back 🤙🏻

Two things. Firstly, I happened to see James' channel and thought I would give it a go. I was pleasantly surprised by the good content plus a couple of laughs. Secondly, I really enjoyed the review of LMU, and I was not entertaining purchasing it, but now I'm a lot more interested. I also became a subscriber. Nice one, James.

If you're wondering why you'd want less regen, it can help with brake balance but it's also to keep battery temperature lower.

Personally I don’t mind the user interface only because Motorsport games are usually not great at the UI but definitely fix the performance and then dam we have a very good sim. I mean I’m completely blown away by the AI, I’ve never experienced that sort of racing against something that isn’t human. I’ll give it a 6/10 atm only because the performance issues but when they are fixed I can give it a solid 8 or 9

Agree on the performance, needs optimizing. The UI wasn't too bad for me, it just needs to be less buggy.

The way this sim portrays elevation changes is top notch, best of any sim out there.
A well done early access is always a good thing. The community has the oportunity to shape the game the way they like and the studio gets quick and paid feedback. It's a win-win situation and it's much better than a bunch of executives deciding about game features when the last game they tried was tetris in 1989.

Racing standards suck because there isnt much on the line but otherwise its really really good. I enjoy how much it feels like actual driving with how the tires come in and how you can go closer to the edge of the tires.

For me LMU is a good surprise, for an EA it already has a solid base, the ffb physics, sound and graphics are really convincing, no bugs, lag online and the netcode looks solid unlike who you know. 😁 There's a lot of work to be done on features and optimisation, but it'll come. Watch out for your GPU, I have a feeling it's getting tired!😂 A superb battle with Michi, you're so fast and beautiful to watch, it's almost like watching a TV broadcast! 👍

pretty solid starting point for the game, hopefully they're using the early access as a way to get a larger amount of feedback on how to move forward with the game. A radar is desperately needed and it would be nice to have some more camera adjustments as well.

Idk how ppl are surprised .. rf2 has the best ffb and physics (in my opinion) must have never played rf2… the issue is all the other bs you have to deal with rf2 that hopefully they will fix in this game which I’m pretty confident they will..
I agree that the RF2 tyre model is probably the best out there.
LMU in my opinion the true successor of gtr 2...return of the king and the best answer to iracing ;-)

They will. It will come probably around the summer in waves. I mean not all at once. It’s a small team that’s basically struggling to survive right now.

just tried this again and its made a huge leap forward , they need to fix the weird feeling on the rear tire a bit, if they do that this will be a great sim to run! Im already liking it a bit more than ACC, its already running better on my machine then ACC does. Truly impressed with what they have fixed thus far!
£25 plus its early in development, beta. This has to be getting better and better after the updates arrive. Also more tracks and cars down the line.

Just you mentioning using your Rfactor2 settings, would you mind making a video about them and explaining why you are using them on RFactor2? to give us an insight on your decisions? Racing sims especially RFactor are actually quite complicated to setup for us beginners. If you do I would really appreciate it!
Will definitely consider this, I agree this sim wasn't the easiest to setup. Not as bad as RF2 but it wasn't far off tbh.

Yep, Fuji is a pretty mega track.
The thing is, we know its early access right. BUT for me the issue is how much they have promised, for them to announce late that it was going to be early access. However having said that they have been good on their discord, plus they have 3 hot fixes already, which for me has fixed a lot of issues I was having. This game has potential and I do hope this does help keep S397 and annoyingly MSG going.
I wouldn't be surprised if the late shift to early access and the stripped back features on release is down to the financial mess of Motorsport Games and them needing cash coming in and because of the cash flow issues missing features couldn't get the staff nor the time to be ready for release.
I was surprised originally when they said it was ea, but like you I'm willing to give it a chance, fingers crossed.
And the fact that you can run VR the same way rF2 does is a bonus, I guess I’ll buy it once I get the Quest 3.
Not quite as good as rf2. Just as a word of warning. No menu. No msaa. But hopefully vr in June.

Some other users were saying you launch the game on screen and use the screen to navigate the menu’s then when you’re on track you can use the headset.
No HUD, and no online racing for now.
But it looks very promising already.

I couldn’t care less for Motorsport Games but hopefully regardless of whoever ends up doing the job it’ll get fleshed out further and be the WEC focussed answer to ACC. I’ve played a little and it’s a good start.

What’s the issue with the shadows on the barriers? The draw distance looks really close. This happens in ACC as well.

Hi James thanks for this test. Despite my ambivalent feelings for rf2 in general, I decided to give LMU a chance. I have the tracks and a couple cars in rf2 already, but LMU will probably somewhat different oncf it's ready. And paying 30 EUR as an entrance fee is not such a big obstacle for me. It's downloading right now. We'll see later or tomortow how it works. Technically, I have had not really problems with rf2 so far. More so with it's whole setup and some of the content, which can be a bit of hit & miss. Aside from the online system which was quite disappointing in the past. Well, I hope LMU will be a new start for S397...😊

@@Jaaames Everything worked fine. After a re-calibration of my wheelbase and re-assignement of the pedals ( axis) I was able to drive. Feels in general as rf2, no surprises. After some fine-tuning , i.e. steering angle settings and some ingame ffb tweaks, I am quite happy with the product, aside from some of the glitches mentioned on the LMU forum. I like how quick Studio 397 reacts on those bug reports. Cars: for an EA product, the range of available cars is sufficient. They drive all differently , so I expect to be busy learning for quite some hours. AI: seems to be better then in some instances of rF2. Tracks : well I really hope there will be some more then those few in the future. Bottom line for me : for 30 € I got some new/revamped tracks, a bunch of new cars, an interesting online-option and some minor problems due to EA stage of the product ( worked on though ) Fair deal for me, I think.
Definitely isn’t bad for $35 and the first 2 days they already released patches so you can’t complain

I’m a big ACC person and oh my the amount of stuff to do with the cars is a change I will have to get used to and especially on a controller I have half my keyboard bound to menu buttons
How are you able to play ACC on a controller? I can't even play the F1 game properly with a controller

i think there is a tire temp bug, your tires instantly melt upon applying brakes, and go completely iced over within 100ft of acceleration. I'm let down by the game, its rfactor 2 with its bugs AND new ones.

All the issues are things that can be fixed in my eyes, early access is purely to make sure the groundwork’s are there and then make the changes necessary whilst having traffic on the game,
I just think at the start of the video it felt like you was hoping it would be bad, when in fact the AI we’re ten times better than any other sim and the the feeling is better than I’ve felt in any other sim, this could well be the saving grace

Only problem I really have woth the game is the UI. Everything else works pretty well
clever decision to build it rf2 based and its forgiving collision model, not getting killed by little contacts is key to have fun. Graphix are good enough, Sound is outstanding. Hope they get it rockstable for big onlineevents in the future
I really like the UI/HUD upgrade, it's just rfactor2 with a facelift. Does the grip feel extremely low to everyone else or is it just me?
It can do if you are running a very low grip realroad in-game. It felt pretty grippy once I turned the grip up tho.
For 30 bucks and knowing I was buying into an EA title I'm pretty satisfied! For what is there atm the driving, presentation and overall experience is addictive already.

It's really fun to play, but I'm asking myself if it's so realistic to use engine breaking that much to rotate the car, the brakes are the same, easy rotation by abusing the little brake in a long turn like in Fuji...I d'ont know. And it's totally a rF2 reskin, showing all the people that that game had so much quality.
That issues can be your graphics card has to high memory speed i know that other games do not do that but the processing power is maybe higher and thus hotter?

I enjoyed it (thumbs up) I did really enjoy it (already subbed though). my thoughts are like yours. They are probably doing a bit of both and the cynic in me also thinks they are needing to put it in early access to generate some revenue now to try and stay afloat and do more with the game. On top of that I feel like there might have been some time constraints and contract stuff where they needed to get a game out and they MAY HAVE negotiated to allow it to be Early Access. Just my opinion and, admittedly cynical thoughts about it given what has been happening with Motosport Games the past few months.

I can’t get the steering right on my dd. Tried a million different steering locks and settings. It’s decent other than that. They at least could’ve changed the guy that leads you out of the pit box

I wanna try this game but I can't even drive the LMDh in AMS2 right now without locking up every single corner so there's no way I could play this since nothing in the game has ABS right now. I wanna try out other hyper cars besides the Caddy, BMW, and Porsche but if I can't drive them properly in AMS2 I'd have no chance in this game. My tires would be destroyed after half a lap every time.
ABS is an option in game settings. It is independent of the car's real life ABS (or lack of). I suggest you buy it!
One trick is to setup the brake quite hard, so with normal pressure you maybe hit 80=90%. I'm also using tactile feedback since 2015.
@@Leynad778 I'm on a controller so getting any individual amount of pressure is next to impossible. I have yet to find the magic sauce in AMS2 that lets me brake without locking up those cars. They default to 90% pressure in the setup menu and I've tried anywhere from 80-100% pressure but I lock up everywhere. It's mostly skill issue but I can't overcome it. At the very least I think trying to cope with that has gotten me better at trail braking in ACC because I recently set a PB at Spa.

You wanna go lower break pressure if you have trouble with lockups no? That’s what helped me
There's plenty of things you can do to help with the locking up, lowering the 'max pedal force' in the car setup helps. If it's still a problem, run the in-game ABS assist.

Hi James, I don’t know your pc configuration, but on mine (i913900k, 64Gb, RTX3090)took 1m39s to load a full AI grid at Le Mans… iRacing gave me a 1m03s… yeah yeah I know… ACC would have probably taken seconds (UE4) 😂

Don't have it (too much ACC not enough time lol) but that screen in the RSR is just a heart-breaker. If that doesn't get addressed and the Cadillac GTP stays 'tricky' I will probably wait for a sale after it's well out of early-access.
Still a good concept and glad to see WEC getting something other than iRacing, but for now I'll just watch from the virtual stands.

This game looks really good, I think it has potential, but theres one thing I really want to know before I buy it. Does anyone know, or have an idea, on if Motorsport Games goes bankrupt and shuts down their servers, will we be able to refund their game(s), even though we have played it for longer than steams refund service allows? If its possible, then this is a 100% buy for me. Maybe someone with the game, can ask steam support, if no one knows atm.
If it stays in the air for 4 months, you already get more than in the other online SIM.
After that it's still drivable 😊
I'll give you a different answer, I think MSG may survive now that they changed CEO to Stephan Hood. The image the last CEO left is horrible and he basically ruined MSG, but hey, the new one is very much involved in the game and S397 are working as hard as they can to make the game a hit.
studio 397 is listed as the publisher so there's a chance it would survive msg going under

Rf2 has the most natural feeling tyres of any sim, but if GT3 and GT4 are your thing, you should get ACC because it was made specifically for those.
Lots of GT3 cars will be part of LMU as well once they add the 2024 season. IMO the physics are next level and I can't take any GT-cars in other games serious enough to deal with their quierks.
For GT3 & GT4's? ACC.

Its in the general options (I think) the one below toggle HUD option/button. Just map a key and it will change from section, full and off.

Besides the bugs it is awesome just a few question does anyone else think the brakes lock up really easy or am I just bad and also does anyone else not feel when the brakes lock and only realize after seeing the smoke in the mirror
No abs in these cars, try lowering brake pressure see if this helps also
A lot of people struggling with this. No ABS in these cars so it is tricky, try lowering the 'max pedal force' in the car setup, helps massively.
I have a problem freeling when the tires lock up. Is there something that helps or just a skill issue from my end.
I guess you need to adapt
Tactile transducers/bass shakers/ Buttkickers will help if you spare the cash. Otherwise, you shouldn't expect to feel lockups in FFB because that would be unrealistic.
Why would it be unrealistic? The steering wheel is connected to the front wheels. You can 100% feel lockups in your steering wheel in real life. Out of any other part of the car, it's where you feel it the most.
@@Gix321 I have locked up in real life 3 times (in 1 of them I was inexperienced and had the car fully locked up for about 50 meters) and the wheel went numb. All the vibrations I felt came from the pedalbox area. Hence I think it's unrealistic. Don't know if things are any different in stiff high downforce cars, but that's the only real life experience I have.
Could be your ffb settings. If you're locking up a lot tho, try lowering the 'max pedal force' in the car setup.
