I literally thought about making a video about this a month ago too! I kept getting comments in some of my videos about using AI which to support a joke an broll, and was recieving lots of flack about it. Awesome video man!
Hey Pete, have you considered shooting digital infrared? There is a conversion which removes certain filters thereby allowing your camera to capture in infrared. Also there is a full spectrum conversion which gives more versatility with infrared.
I noticed now when working in Photoshop, there is metadata that automatically gets inserted into your exported file, under "Content Credentials (Beta) which will apply AI credentials to your file, even if you used it for the smallest little edit.
It really depends on how you export the photo too. If you use generative fill in photoshop and then bring it into Lightroom to make your edits and then upload, IG won't tag it as "Made with AI".
It's probably making use of the meta data that photoshop adds to the image file once you use generative fill on it. I'm sure there are ways to remove that, at the most basic level you can just screenshot your edited pictures and save them in paint or whatever.
I love this! Editing is not photography. Complete noob here, I hardly even look at my photos when I've taken them. Seeing them through the viewfinder after they are taken is about as much magic as I can take
Richard Mosse is incredible! When I first learned about him I converted the only DLSR I had (a Canon T6) to a modified 590 nm infrared camera. I eventually got a new visible light camera but I was shooting infrared for a while! I still do! It’s pretty incredible. A video on Richard Mosse would be EPIC!
I've been shooting digital infrared photography since 2015 and I don't think I've ever seen anyone with legit Aerochrome before. Very cool. A company called Kolarivision, which began as an IR-conversion company for digital cameras, created an "IR Chrome" filter to use with full-spectrum conversions that gives you the Aerochrome look right out of the camera. Normally, there'd be a lot of editing and channel swapping to get the sky blue, leaves pink/red, etc. Their filter is the easiest way to do it, but you can get close using a regular filter (I think yellow worked best on my camera, but I'd have to check), then doing some light editing.
I'm so glad you posted this. It happened to me for a shot that used ZERO generative fill. ZERO AI. AND I still got that tag. I posted but I was upset, I was so proud of the photo I took and IG told me jokes on you
I got a “Made With AI” tag on one of my posts recently and it threw me off as well. Interestingly, my Instagram post didn’t even have any Generative Fill in it, but I was using the same Photoshop File for a landscape version which did, and my photo still got tagged. Really weird.

I wonder if it would be able to tell if you used a windows 98 vintage image editing program.
I really enjoy this! Felt like I was having a conversation with you rather than just watching a video.
Pete...... you're awesome. I can't wait to see the video from Jason.
When I used to shoot infrared film. I didn't shoot color, only bl and wht it made the greenery glow. I loved it!! I miss film and working in thelab..
Awewhhhhh, you sent the roll to your friend, that's sweet. And I just can't stop learning from you.
We can't remove a ketchup stain off a table - But fashion photos or magazine covers of models who have been edited to the typical unrealistic version of perfection will never have a disclaimer. When is it art and when should it be labeled... When is it enhancement and when is it too much? As we navigate this new AI realm, I suppose time will tell. AS ALWAYS Thank you for your insight and talent and leading by example. You are sincerely the best of the best on YT.
I've got two rolls of unopened Kodak Kodachrome II, colour slide film, BB Feb. 1971. Can't do anything with them since the chemicals are gone as far as I know. I'll continue to hang onto them for the nostalgia value.
I have never watched a video and thought about purchasing something that was hawked during the video... Until today. The Ridge stuff was pretty cool. Got to get me some!
Great that you latched onto Infra. An incredible piece of work.
Very pleased to see that you’re sending a roll of Aerochrome to Jason. He deserves it. That was a very nice gesture Pete. ❤
I haven’t seen that film for a minute!!! Thanks for the memories.
It's amazing to see two of my fav youtubers in the same video ! what is this? A cross-over episode ?
Hey Pete, could you do a video on your photo books? I’ve always been wanting to get into them but never know here to start.
It’s about time you highlighted grainy days Peter. I knew it was only a matter of time.
I’m a big fan of Aerochrome and used it when I had the chance (an example is in a video of mine, and then I have a gallery on my blog) and I’m sooooooo feeling devastated whenever I see photos made with it because it’s so rare it’s unfair, but of course I’m also in utter awe. Plus you were in Italy, so ❤
But the whole Instagram AI thing… shocking.
That is some really cool shots. Only seen the infrared with digital cameras before. This is really nice ! Keep it up Peter.
We need something that says that this have been made by A.I.
Your'e not crazy, you drink to much coffee! I should know, I do too 🤣 Banger episode. Thanks Pete. (no "Pwhat's up!" ?)
