This is how British humour is. In a pub or family environments comedy can get very very dark, but I feel its a way of addressing the reality of a dark world. He really makes you think and also demonstrates these are just jokes, if it made you laugh it made you laugh. I say some crazy crap with my mum just to wind her up, I get a punch but she is giggling. If people believed the shit I said I would be the worse person on earth but its not the case. I can relate to this - lol
Here in the UK,the more abuse we give to someone, the more fond we are of them. We learn from an early age to “take the piss” and carry it through our lives. NOTHING is off limits as we see humour, sometimes savage,as our safety net to get through the shit in life.
Despite the 1st Amendment in the U.S., some people now want to outlaw what they feel is offensive on-stage speech by celebrity comics as though literal violence. But it's nothing like a random person yelling "fire" in a theater to cause a harmful human stampede. These are words in an act by an entertainer. People who don't like his words, prior acts or general vibe can stay home, not watch, detach to do what suits them. The speaker stands separate from the audience (or distant by film) and cannot reach them for actual violence of any type. And comics like Ricky Gervais make jokes, thank God, about this type of thing. For the overarching freedom of all.
I can only imagine, the Revolution (not great, didn’t work out) add WW1 & 2? Not great, hey but you have a King! We have a Biden sock puppet…kind of a crusty old sock but more attractive than Michelle…
It wouldn’t surprise me if these three North American men went home and fell on their knees asking god to forgive them for laughing at Ricky’s wonderful dark humour.
Chaps. Been reading the comments. If you are looking for proper edgy, don't give a fuck, comedy, then ignore all the plebs banging on about anyone other than a Brit. The British humour you see is like any Friday night in a pub, ruthless, savage and nobody gets offended.
Some of these aren't quite as outrageous as they may seem, when placed in the context of the whole joke, story, or even the whole show. For instance, the little girl joke was part of a much longer story about a social misunderstanding, leading to telling the wrong joke, at the wrong time, to the wrong people. :)
Since you asked for more Ricky he did a lighthearted comedy movie starring himself called The Invention of Lying it's not as well known as his other stuff but its still good the title is kinda self explanatory. He did do something more recently which is a bit darker that he actually produced and starred in and it was a tv show for netflix called After Life it's a very british somber show with some dark humour and inappropriate jokes and it's got other british comedians acting in it too that you might recognise. If you want an idea what after life is about i'll put it down here. Simply put, It's about a man who has lost his wife to cancer, he is struggling and fighting some battles it's basically following this guy and how he copes with everything. Ricky adds the humour and the heart to it, so it's not all sad and dark but it's a great show if anyone is interested.
My son and I watched The Invention of Lying the other night, his recommendation. I was already a huge fan and also from a very religious background, I found it at times side splitting hilarious. In these times I think he is an icon of sanity and free speech and a breath of fresh air. In the UK we have championed those who take the p#%s out of the conventional, from Monty Python onwards and I desperately hope it carries on despite the angry woke hordes!!
You need think twice his jokes. As an example, the little girl, the abuser is quite often inside the family or close circle, not a stranger. So, this is sublimely making you suspicious of close family. It's never that simple with Mr. Gervais, except when it is.
Love Ricky Gervais he is so funny ,the lad on the right his face isn't getting the British humour 😱🇬🇧 🇬🇧 Ricky does go a bit far thats why people like him .

British humour, can come from a very dark place. Its how we get through the dark times. We laugh at almost anything.
I can only imagine, the Revolution (not great, didn’t work out) add WW1 & 2? Not great, hey but you have a King! We have a Biden sock puppet…kind of a crusty old sock but more attractive than Michelle…

Watch extras ,what he gets the celebrities to do or say
This dude is so right spot on.
There’s a clip in Afterlife where he threatens a child bully with a hammer. I thought that was pretty savage.
there were some moments were a couple of you guys , the ones sitting on the right and left appeared a bit uncomfortable
Interesting seeing the lads react to religious humor…they didn’t like it 😂
I too noticed that their reactions to religious humour was decidedly muted.
He wrote and acted in Afterlife which is in Netflix
He wrote & directed & acted in Derek too. Not sure if that’s on Netflix

Come on guy’s you’ve been sleeping on Ricky you guy’s need to check out his new set.😂😂
The term 'politically correct' is interesting. Who defines what is politically correct and who gives them the right to do so?
Guys, do yourselves a favour and look up anything by Bill Hicks. Your minds will never be the same.

Try Jimmy Carr if you want dark
I like Jimmy....until he does his fake seal impression.
This is just an example of our British humour, we don’t give a shit.
You need to look at Jimmy Carr risky jokes, much darker than Ricky
