As a fat fuck myself, i have never been offended by being called fat, heck my own mum calls me fat. Part of the reason Ricky is so funny is because what he is saying is spot on.

@@Isleofskye There have always been fat people. But there were far fewer in the 60s and 70s. We didn't have McDonalds, KFC, Burger King, pizza places and kebab shops in the UK back then though. Only fish and chip shops. Personally, I don't touch it, but fast food ads are constant on British TV. Another reason is food was more substantial back then. An orange in World War II had 8 times the nutritional value of one today. Also, people weren't tied to the TV or Internet back then, so were far more active.

He is from my hometown of Reading in the UK, and his style of humor is very common in our town, we do tend to take the piss out of ourselves and others with extreme sarcasm.
Having been to Reading, that doesn't surprise me.
The worst people are those who are always offended ON BEHALF of those who don't really care or have a good laugh about it
I watch the clips of Amanda`s viewings all the time. Not only is she really funny and gives me a real GENUINE laugh at some of her videos, but it is sheer pleasure to see her enjoying these clips without any inhibitions, and to top it all she is a truly beautiful lady, and I am NOT trying it on to try and get to know her. I am a guy aged almost 90, I just appreciate her sense of humour while I still can.

I've gained a lot of weight the last couple of years. Working long hours leave me drained with no energy to work out. It is a downward spiral. That's why I decided to change job and work on myself and change my life to a healtier one. I should have done that long ago, but it was a choise to ignore it for so long.

I love Amanda Rae's videos. It doesn't hurt that she's very pretty and has an infectious laugh, but she generally minimizes her comments and her screen window, leaving most to the subject - this was an exception. Her "competition" is the exact opposite. wide loads (see Rickey on that subject!) that take up most of the screen and chatter incessantly, pausing the subjects' windows to talk.
Saw him in concert a couple of months ago. One of the funniest, refreshing comedy performances, because not afraid of the PC brigade!

He doesn't just have one Hollywood roast, they kept inviting him back and he kept ripping new arseholes for all the Hollywood elite.
Some of the best moments are not necessarily his jokes, it is the looks on the faces of some of the actors (Tom Hanks for instance, his reaction is classic).

What makes Ricky so great is that his stand up is like a mate in the pub. My mates talk just like him (different accent, same cadence). That's what got me when he had small spots on The 11 o'clock Show back in the very early '90,s.

Now it`s a well known fact that America has been a good friend and ally of Britain for years, they have supplied lots of technology to us, and we have reciprocated by sharing our breakthroughs and expertise with The USA. But one of the most valued items they have given us this stunning young lady, Amanda, she is full of great humour, and her smile and the way that she chuckles in her video offerings, is sheer magic. She cheers me up every time I log on to one of her posts. Thank you so much Amanda, for cheering up this almost 90 year old guy.

I love Ricky. He's my favourite stand up. I say this as a fat bloke. To be fair i'm fat because of the large amount of beer i drink, and hate and refusal of exercise. Most of what i eat is healthy, but i'm still a fatty through choice lol.

Beer is just liquid bread, I mean I gained quite a lot of weight in last 3 years because of it. Or rather, being too inactive to burn it out but perpetual beer consumption is the fastest way of getting fat even though you eat healthily

Hypocrisy being a very prevalent trade of character in human beings and societies is what makes a comedian's job easy because all you have to do is tell the truth. From court jesters to Molier to modern comedians. I think most people laugh at Ricky Gervais's shows not because what he says is funny (I'm not saying it isn't), but because we laugh at the fact that he has the courage to say the truth whereas most of us would blush or run away from saying it. We know it's the truth but subconsciously we receive it as a joke because we are so used to the hypocrisy around us, so he wouldn't really be meaning what he's saying would he...
And of course he is quite genius in wording his truths and truly remarkable at delivering them.
BTW, have you seen his series "After life"? A more reflective sort of humor as a tool for dealing with loss. Brilliant and touching. Brave and smart, funny and moving . And it's got Diane Morgan and Joe Wilkinson to boot.

Everytime I watch Ricky G, I laugh so hard, often to the point of choking, I fell off my chair once. Contemplating suing him for assault.... tee hee tee hee, He is not only outrageously funny, he is also a VERY smart man. Love your channel, and the fact that you are now using Brit slang ie "Doesn't give a toss" etc. I'm an ex Patriot Brit, living in Ontario Canada for the past 54 years. Emigrated 12 days after getting hitched.

Amanda, Thats hilarious, Ricky is a true comedian uses facts and he gives perspective.There is quite a lot of uncomfortable sections for some, but you cannot argue when its the truth. The " glandular" problem of some who are overweight is minuscule in the population, - most are their size due to life choice in their sedentary lives and eating habits. The "Oscar" roastings by Ricky are legendary, and more noteworthy as they were delivered in person to their faces and video recorded in front of billions 😂 He will go down in history as exposing Hollywood at its Awards to everyones joy 😂😂😂

When Amanda snort-laughs, you know it is funny.
3:10 the word “obese” is now derogatory because it implicates that it ruins your health. There is a scientific journal named (and I’m not making this up) “fat studies” where fat people publish their peer reviewed papers about how great it is to be obese. But they call it “being fat”. Because their health is not impaired by them being fat.

As a fat person I can still laugh at this, I will take 70% of the responsibility for being fat, but unfortunately, like many others I am on a butt load of medications, 3 of which cause weight gain and water retention, which sucks, they keep me alive but have a shitty side effect.
Yeah it's not quite as straigthforward as Ricky presents it...but it's comedy. I'm also fat and I can laugh at this just like any other person. It's just that my belly laughs are much bigger 😉

To be fair he has "matured" at bit over the last few years, now he only specifically "targets" rich, famous or close people...
He got humbled on twitter a few years back when making a few jokes/rants only for people to point out he is doing or done the same... he basically turned around and said "yeah fair enough", after that he went a bit quiet for a while and then became more careful with his joke or rants.
He is extremely funny, intelligent and caring, i do like the more "considerate" aim he has now, he still does not hold back and speaks facts, but just makes sure it's more towards "tougher" or more deserving people. At one of his later gigs he admitted this and stated he is going to make sure that the people with thicker skin get the flack.
I have never found him offensive and he has always been one of my favourite comedians, but i do love the extra consideration to make sure more people are laughing and happy, it just make him a much better and likeable comedian.

What he says does apply, but he needs to bear in mind that some people have eating disorders and these are mental conditions which will not be resolved by telling them to eat less because what they are actually lacking are emotional skills. If you try to force them to eat less, before they have learned the skills they need, it usually results in the cultivation of other habits, such as self-harming, gambling or drug addictions because the pain has to have an outlet somewhere. Much has been written about this, not least by Gabor Matte and the National Centre for Eating Disorders in the UK.
Ultimately eating disorders are about emotions and the regulation of emotions by eating food. These are people who have suffered inordinate amounts of trauma, and pointing out to them how fat they are, and how much they need to change that, does not help. It just crushes their esteem further. And yes, I was there. I had an eating disorder for over 30 years before I found out that that was why I was not losing weight. My treatment was the hardest thing I ever had to do and lasted two years. A Rickey Gervais would not have been helpful to me. I came from a highly abusive household and what I needed, was a loving person, to talk to, or as it is known, a counsellor who showed me 'unconditional personal regard' while I worked through my pain and learned new coping strategies. THAT worked.
@@ingridburling8731 Sorry to hear you went through all that but let's be honest, while your situation is relevant, it's far from typical. The vast majority of fatties (like me and Ricky) got that way because they were lazy and overate the wrong food types. They're the ones Ricky's having a pop at, not the genuine cases that need help medically or psychologically. I hope your situation is better now on all fronts and wish you well going forward.
