A coworker redid a mistake a loctician did on my "locs". She used a crochet needle and bam! 6 hours later instant locs. I'm very happy!! Now the journey continues
When I had dreads my daughter put them in and I crocheted them weekly myself. You don’t have to pay for it. Mine were to my waist when I combed them out. They were 4 years old and they were beautiful. Yes they will comb out. Expect a huge pile of hair and that’s from natural shedding.
Keep in mind, don't crochet too often. Once a month max, hair can be damaged by using it.
@@Stophatingalready it’s only hair. It’s not a big deal at the end of the day
Please can I have a picture of your dreadlock?
@@franciswisdom7748 I’m not sure how to even send one
Okay..can I have your WhatsApp number..so I can text you..and u send the pictures
I believe this is like the 38th vid on how to get instant dreadlocks so far.
ong
Yeah the truth is dreads is not a hard like you can only make so many vid on Knotting your hair
There are other, newer viewers who come across this channel besides you my g
@@EviEhvee im aware of that. Doesnt change the fact that he makes one of these every month and does not change anything in them. Theres nothing more to say about how to get dreadlocks.
@@HalfAryanHunterGatherer then stop watching
He's helping others not just you.
You're right, getting dreads & doing maintenance is super pricey, also where I live, it's super hard finding locticians. I initially got dreads in January 2021, had to drive out 2hrs & paid $450 to get it done, & it was just a person doing it from their house. Then I spent forever trying to find a place for maintenance, since I was trying to find something closer & wanted to find like an actual salon. I finally found a place about an hour away from me, so I've been getting maintenance like every other month paying $120 each time. The money adds up a lot & lots of traveling too. I've tried multiple times doing maintenance on myself, but I just can't get the locs in the back, & the ones that I can get, it never ends up looking as good as when my loctician does it. Loc journeys are tough. Will there ever come a time where you won't need maintenance anymore? Lol
If your having a problem retwisting with precision try this. I’ve been doing my brothers hair and mines for over 3 years. So basically you need a metal rat tooth comb, some type of gel or oil a spray bottle and lastly two mirrors. Set one of the mirrors up in front of the other with yourself right in the middle. It is important that your able to move the mirror in front of your face as you will have to adjust the angle throughout the process. Then all you gotta do from their is have a steady hand with the comb. Spray with oil and water and get to separating and retwisting I hope this helps🤙🏽
My fiancé dreaded my Mohawk and it came out pretty good for it being her first time ever doing it and me having strait hair. Thanks to you bro. Now only thing is is keeping up with it and keeping it tight at the roots. It’s kinda hard maintenance for strait hair in my opinion. But again thank you. Hopefully your future and past videos will help us keep and maintain my dreadhawk..
use interlocking at the root, also palm rolling and regular crochet
Ur most likely white and shouldn’t have dreads to begin with tbh
GREAT VIDEO! I have the same texture hair. Loctician tried coils that unraveled and now I have 2 strand twists...will definitely be trying this!!!! 💯💯💯💯
Yo bro I'm omw to get my first pair of locs u got any advice on how to maintain them?
I have the same texture as well. A beautician told me that I couldn’t have locs. I thought she was nuts! Now time to figure this out.

Best video I’ve seen yet on this method. Lovely explanation job, very thorough
So glad I found your channel for real. I’ve been trying so hard and failing with my straight a$$ hair. Merry Meet and Blessed Be Brother 💫
Crazy! When I first started mine I did the braid method, this is cool for other textures
That is what we are looking for the braid method because the braid method last longer and it’s much faster but son keeps getting his hair twisted every two weeks and it’s costly and it hasn’t locked yet
amount of dreadlock videos this man made
Bro, thank you for this video. I learned overnight and was able to crochet all my locs..my arms and hands hurt but..i did it..
Hi, I received my crochet tool for my locs. This is a game-changer, I am going to save so much money. My question is why are these hairstylists not using this??????? Thanks for your video
Also when using the crotchet hook idk how many times youve done and still cant do it right. You cant crotchet a strand of hair and expect it to lock up. Youre essentially grabbing hair and folding onto itself creating a "dreadlock" looking strand of hair. You have to crotchet hook knots that are in your hair to tighten them into a cylindrical "dreadlock". That is why ppl with straight hair back comb or twist and rip. Cause that process makes the hair clump up into knots that you can then tighten with a crotchet needle to make a pretty solid knotted strand of hair giving you a "dreadlock" appearance. I put quotations around "dreadlock" because my pov on dreads means that the hair has been locked for atleast a year in its knotted form. I would personally call year old knotted strands of hair dreadlocks. Thats why ppl say baby locks or starter locks because theyre not completely mature dreads. Mature isnt something you can achieve with a crotchet hook. Maturation comes from time. There is a difference in appearance between fresh crotchet hooked "dreads" to year old + dreads. Just my opinion rlly doesnt matter i still watch your videos and all cause i love looking at hair and different styles. Just thought id spread some knowledge i learned from doing my own dreads. (Dont have them anymore but ive had about 5 sets) you give out great info all the time just thought id put a note in for others that might get confused while watching like i have.
Yeah, the concept of 'maturity ' is self explanatory. You can't get fully mature dreads in a day, cuz the new growth needs to adjust to them which takes time (unless your hair isn't curly cuz this wouldn't be possible with straight hair)
Can't agree more. I've had dreads since 2011. Time and patience creates the most beautiful dreads. I personally think this rushed manufactured process looks terrible. Nature and time. You can't rush the process, people are just impatient
@@labakrapscalio451 agreed. thats why i think gunthers current set of dreads looked better at the 6 month mark than now, cuz they actually looked natural and not rushed. now they just damaged
Yo bro, can you tell me if doing the instant locs method make it looks unnatural and stiffy forever? I really dont wanna let them loc naturally because it'll negatively impact in my self esteem and job hunting and all, can i do it instant method and get it to look more natural after idk 1 week or so?
@@gabrielhenrique1651 no they don’t look stiff after a while, when you crochet them leave a inch from the root, and you can get them palm rolled into two strand if you want, and they’ll look natural in about a week or two when take the two strand out.
Amazing thanks! I had this one loc that was playing games. Now it can mature with the rest!
I appreciate it frfr! Im about to lock in my own dreads so I been researching best ways and it seems easy enough..
I love your videos. you are my new favorite RUclipsR!!!

5 months in, how is it?
i actually used your 2020 video. and oh boy. some of my locks are big or thick and puffy even. but i’m cool with it😅😂i like how it looks. looks like i used the free form method
Gunthers Hair Grows So Fast😭
Thanks for the great video❤ But, is it really that easy to do it yourself? I'm thinking, what about in the back? How long does it take you think? My hair is about 25 cm and flat. Can I color dreadlocks? Ooooh😂😂😂 so many questions, sorry, but please help me🙏🙏😊
When he was showing the second technique it reminded me of the pain i went tru doing my dreadlocks i just started a few days ago that technique did work fast but the needle stabbed me multiple times in the same spot in my thumb
Instructions unclear, I now have a knitted blanket instead of dreads
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'm 1 month in with my high top locs and I can already put it in a little ponytail
My hair is like yours in terms of the freezy, brittle and dry. But mine crown area almost lost some hair and my front area.
To do dreadlock looks funny. Mine
i'm so glad there wasn't a RUclips 30+ years ago when i started my dreadlock journey...There's so many folks making misinformed videos for the sake of likes, shares and subscriptions for money...Growing dreadlocks are not this complicated and anything worth having won't happen overnight. It's all about having patience and letting them form naturally in time. Water is your friend and drinking it along with eating a healthy diet and exercise helps and you don't have to buy "tools" or products that never allow them to lock on their own, since you're manipulating the root by pulling the new growth. folks in Jamaica don't do this nonsense, so why are folks doing it in the states?
Any video on doing maintenance for the frizz
My dreadlocks are budding should I just wait and can I instant lock them?
I started my locs a month ago and now trying to figure out what can i for the frizz
People are so rude in these comments. Thabks for the video! Was very helpful!
Make a special video for me lol plz! I want dreads ok the natural way. so I do coils rights but Ima be wearing at 24/7 at work so like what do I do? Do I just fix when I get home, go to sleep fix it in the morning then I’ll be working all day and just fix it before I go to sleep wake up and fix it before I go back to work.. like that type of routine?
After I made them dreads with that tool can I wash my hair right away or not
Aigh aigh aigh i aint gonna lie this 11 mins were like a tbt of how to lock your hair in 2021 😂 save you some time
I spot some new grow this 2022 & some age on you bro keep on doing them videos ✌🏼😂😳👍🏼
Hey Gunther question can men get butterfly locs
I have curly hair , 3c. I've been doing this and it's not locking. What do you recommend?
Genial, ahora tengo que aprender Ingles
Thank you kindly for your videos!
I am struggling at this stage where I have used this method of the crochet. I feel that I'm struggling maintaining it and not sure what to do. I also feel that hair is coming out instead of actually staying locked.
I respect the grind and the hustle but i also enjoy learning and not just having a product "forced" on me😂 understandable just something to keep in mind
The top of my husband's hair does not lock bottom half does and I need to learn how to do the parting please tag video of parting
I still can’t do it 😊,it looks easy when you do it
I have a question I've been looking everywhere for. If I wet my two strand twist every day will it still loc up? Because when I sleep in my twist they always look bad in the morning
I got me some twists then crochet hooked em tbh. They look good to me
@@PoorSportMarq my hair ain't locking with the crochet hook I gave up
@@PoorSportMarq Bro, can you please tell me if yours look unnatural and stiffy? Im really wanting to skip the natural locking process but i want mine to look natural after some washes/days you know?
Great video very easy to understand
gunther please locc my hair i don’t trust anyone but you 😂
is Full head easier than a Top fade for Locs?
Bro u saved my live I looked for vids like that but there were for 2016 now I know this method only works in the year 2022
thanks for the help
So like I’ve been Freeforming since Jan intill now I’ve been seeing a lot of build up and progress but I’m scared to wash it so what do I do
I can’t tell what my hair type is but I’m mixed my hair is tight and curly but the curls mess up easily and it’s not nappy or anything
Great vid but this is hard for me. Can’t quite get it right yet. And I don’t wanna rip my hair up
Any way I can turn my long dreads to free form? I just been sponging my hair honestly
For this process do I need to have my hair wet or it doesn’t matter
No do not have it wet bro I hope you didn’t lmao
It helped me
Hello I have really straight hair no type of texture every soft and not that long how can I start but my hair is really really straight and maybe 3 inches long on the top
Thanks.. yes you did help me,
That's crazy last year u just had waves now u already got dreads
Can you use this tool to section your hair too?
yes lmao
ofc you can, you could use it to crochet a blanket if you really wanted to 💀
How many inches does your hair have to be
can i use this method to thicken my skinny locs?
I mean you can combine two together but that’s bout it. The crochet makes the loc tighter
@@Yelijah17 so this will work on skinny dreads cause mine are as skinny as microlocs just wondering will the crochet hook would fit through
Bruh im trying to find tutorials and I find this video and 1st second in, all I see is dirty hair. Bruh. Bruh. Makes me NOT wanna get dreads BRUHHH.
first white guy who looks good with dreads
Wish there was a cheap place to go in New zealand!
For your hair type your tips might never get budded the way u want. I cut mines and got the look. And my hair is super fine I would say we almost have the same type so cut the ends once it buds up. You will thank me later and I mean cut the ends like you do split ends and bam the buds are right there lol😂
❤❤❤thanks new at this
Cut the tips or instan lock them its gonna show a big deference
once jan 1st hit he gonna upload how to get locs in 2023
Ur lucky bro😁
how do u get the white stuff out?
I got the item and I can’t get to do it I got curly hair
Can you do a video on how to get a taper lining with dreads?
You talking about the hair line or taper in general? He has a few in the older videos
Yeah both, thankyou
My hair goes past my chin now this is my first ever Afro used to have a high top my hairs come a long way from saying my hair looks like a box to guys jealous but I really wanna do dreads but I don’t wanna throw my hair away because when they lock I wouldn’t be able to take my hair out
If you want to, then definitely go for it. You can always comb them out, it just takes time. I'm pretty sure he even has videos on how.
How can I block this page
Hi- can you make a video with the crochet method but really slowed down? I’m trying so hard to do exactly what you’re doing but I’m failing and so frustrated. Please help.

i have straight thick white people hair, but if i get hair extensions and a perm maybe, will i be able to get two strand twist??? or what is the best way to get 2 strand twists with straight hair???
A perm will destroy your hair
Gunther dreads lowkey not lockin how they used too
Guys there is only so much information about dreads you can go over and he’s explain basically all of it so of course he’s gonna repeat content that’s fine he has new viewers daily 🤦🏾♂️

Is your natural hair straight or curly? Jw
Can this be done with straight hair, or do you still need to twist and rip?
U can get dreads/locs with any hair just won't lock the same but with str8 hair a crochet needle would probably be best
Do non hair related content bro. Do some vlogs w friends. Go on adventures. Open new content pathways. We’ve seen enough hair videos respectfully
I mean this IS his business bro. His goal is to get as many people buying from his store as possible, and while vlogs and stuff would be awesome, they aren't gonna do that.
Maybe you should make the videos you’re suggesting he makes. You can’t control someone’s content creation. His channel and business is hair…. he’s working. Let the man work.
Dude I don't understand. I mix so naturally have curly hair and I and I too strain twisted dreaded my hair. But now I want to maintain it myself so I bought crochet needles but now I'm not understanding what size is needed for my hair I only have dreads on top of my head but my head about 33 to 34. I got a 0.5 crochet needle but I think it might be too small what I'm asking is for some help or some guidance cause I'm not understanding.
Bro should I start my dreads by baby child or towel run
When I do this, my needle just goes in and out it does not lock anything up. I just want to cryyyyy. Lol
those look like natural dreads
yeah in 2022 make instant dreadlocks is a whole different thing 😂
Why yo locs boneless ?
Knotty Dreadlox evrytime.
how long does it have to be to even justify having a crochet tool?
Yo where you from
face length in 18 months... the mutant gene is real
Why would a Loctition tell you there secret. No matter how much you know how to do the technique A Loctition would make sure your locs are Locking from root to tip. Not tangle with a tool. It’s about the journey not a quick fix.
