Is Memory Overclocking worth it, or is it too much of a hassle? Let me know what you think in the comments below, and don't forget to CLAP THAT LIKE BUTTON! UPDATE: I achieved 3800MHz RAM with better RAM cooling. Be sure to keep your DDR4 under 45c when overclocking. WARNING! All overclocking can potentially degrade or even destroy your hardware. If you aren't comfortable with that than DON'T OVERCLOCK AT ALL! I hold no responsibility for any damages that may occur.

Great Video! Mine is running at 3800 cl 16 18 18 36 ..at 1.44 Volts (Maybe i can get lower Volts, have to try it) with all subtimings at calculate fast. Have Samsung B die. Got RAM pushed to 3400MHz (XMP was 3000), but could only SLIGHTLY lower timings. Did gain a 4-10FPS improvement in SoTR benchmark though, which isn't bad for free. 🙃

hey, modern motherboards all have overclock profiles, which can store your bios settings.
for asus it's under the Tools page.
you tweak 1 or 2 dram timing parameter, save one profile (name "dram tweaking" or "testing"). so you don't need to write down or take picture for your settings.
you fail to boot after tweaking 1 or 2 settings, just reload your previously saved profile.

When I go into the BIOS of my ASUS TUF Gaming Plus and enable "DOCP" there is only one option called #profile1 and if I select it shows: D.O.C.P DDR4-4132 18-18-18-38-1.40V which is WAY higher than the values in your video, so I cancel and back out in fear of devastation...

Do you need to run MemTest and a game at the same time or separately?
And when you're talking about changing 5 numbers at a time into the bios is all you do just start the pc after that to see if it starts or do you run a fast test after the 5 inputs and then continue?

Find your CPU and Motherboard's QVL. They'll say what they're rated compatible "up-to" for RAM speeds. Use that number.
TL/DR: RAM speeds don't mean much when you're limited by the other hardware involved and the penalties associated with FCLK.
(Cheat-sheet: "3800" is what you should put in)

I have a Gigabyte B550M Aorus elite (which was pretty cheap) and if I put in a too high ram speed value mine tries to boot a few times and after failing will boot with the ram at jedec frequencies/timings. But it does have a very annoying bug. If the computer crashes due to too aggressive undervolting/overclocking the chipset nvme drive won't be detected until you either take it out and put it back in or leave the pc disconnected from power (just turning it off isn't enough, has to be disconnected from power) for 10s of minutes to 12h (depends on how lucky you are). Sometimes this isn't enough on its own or on the first try and you have to try a few times/both methods and sometimes mess with the pcie bifurcation setting in the bios.

If your computer doesn't post, reset cmos. Also instead of aida64 ,run prime95. Aida just for memory latency and maybe read and write speed.Personally i owned a 3600 and was coupled at 3733mhz, now i own a 3700x and it's coupled and stable at 3800mhz cl15 at 1.42v , 63.8ms latency in aida64.

A SUUPER easy way to reset your CMOS on some motherboards is using a screw driver or something metallic on the two jumper pins(power off on PSU/unplugged), check on your mobo diagram if you have one. Contact the two pins ** for 10 seconds while your computer is unplugged from a power source**. I have a 4090 and removing the CMOS battery simply isn't an option every time as the titanic GPU covers it. That jumper point is very accessible on my AM4. Happy overclocking!

I turned both voltage back down after the test. I do have water cooling and active cooling on the ram but I still think 1.7 is insane and I don't know why MSI has that as a preset but I assume it's because it's because it's a Ford marketed for ln2. Don't bother with higher frequency on zen3. Stick with the highest stable FCLK you can get, which will probably be around 1866-2000mhz max. The higher binned BDie doesn't care about voltage, even 1.7 it tolerates just fine. It doesn't tolerate temps though. You will see errors once they get too hot. You've also got 4x8gb so you're running a dual rank setup, which means you're gonna be limited by your memory controller. Don't be surprised if it just can't handle even 4 sticks running at 3800mhz with tight timings. And there's no chance SoC voltage is 2.9v. the SoC breaks down around 1.5v. there's almost never a reason to even exceed 1.2v. so I'm guessing that's a typo.

Thanks for the video it would help so many people! Also, that's so funny. I just finished my ram literally a few hours lol. Had you got the video out earlier, I might have saved a few hours I spend today figuring it out. I have been tinkering with my Ram setting for many months without success then finally I just realized that I didn't adjusted the infinity fabric speed! Somehow the stupid bios menu put it in a different tabs and with lots of numbers to deal with I totally forgot about it! I decided to give it another go today and I just noticed it haha.
I would go with a very modest overclock of the Ram speed if you don't want to have to do a CMOS reset that many times, speed bump has less effects overall in my case. There's already that useful calculator for you to use. Sure, it's a lot of number but ram overclock is relatively safe, sure you might need to rest your CMOS but you can't really break your ram as they generated really little heat even when you bump up the voltage. I think it's not too much hassle and you can get a really good performance out of the Ryzen chip. The latency between the ccx is one of the main things that hold the ryzen back so, I also encourage everyone to try out at least the timing optimization if you don't want to waste a lot of time with the overclocking.

Tuning memory is fun but can cause a lot of blue screen issues doesn’t really help that much max FPS wise but it’s good to see the extra bandwidth via maxxmem! Think I peaked about 38mbs

      x570 Asus Crosshair VIII
I chose the Crosshair VIII because it has Safe Boot. The Crosshair VIII Impact and Formula both have safe boot as well. The feature could be an up and coming with RAM overclocking having greater positive effect than before.

I thought my initial 3800mhz and 1900fclk RAM was stable until I bought Modern Warfare. MemTest64 said did not detect any errors during the stress test sessions. I used the DRAM calculator presets for both 'fast' and 'safe' overclocking, but neither worked for me. Simply enabling XMP, changing my memory multiplier to 38, and then changing my fclk to 1900 has been stable all day so far. I have been able to increase my RAM speed and maintain a 1:1 ratio while using the default sub- timings.

you need to up your ram vdimm voltage to at around 1.45-1.475V or so if its cl16 and at least around 1.5V for 3800CL14. your soc voltage probably needs to be upped to 1.135V or so and then 50mV less than your SOC voltage for your VDDG voltages (try same for both). VDDP might need 900-950mV. the dram calculator sucks for speeds over 3600 looking at the google spreadsheets of amd ram overclocking.
